I like the ring from the movie better. The stones from the one they're selling are too big. It seems to me the movie ring has a lot of little stones and it looks more elegant and delicate. The ring that is for sale just looks like something you use when you're 5 and you're playing princesses. But that's just my vision. I wouldn't wear the one they're selling.

It bothers me that it only looks semi like what the book described! I was a jeweler for 4 years and when i read the description of the ring this is not at all what i was thinking. I can deal with any ring which I'll glance at only briefly when Edward is out of the shot. As long as they get the wedding dress right, the way they described it as being graceful and elegant with a long train. And then the moment will be set when Alice says to Bella when she's so nervous: “Focus, Bella. Edward is waiting for you down there.” Yup, he's waiting for you, girl. Nothing is better than that.
they don't put attention to that detail at all… Edward's favorite color on her is blue, and only in Twilight Catherine uses that color on her prom dress. In New Moon, she most uses green… GREEN???? I didn't like it at all! I hope she uses more blue in her outfits for Eclipse and in Breaking Dawn I WISH she uses the blue color in the travel dress.

Yes, the Masen's were middle-class (Possibly upper-middle class). I believe that Edward's father was a lawyer, and in the 1900s, that would afforded him the luxury of being able to afford real diamonds and trinkets.
And I do believe that Elizabeth had told Carlisle when she was dying to make sure Edward received her jewels. And if she hadn't, I am sure Edward would have found a way to get his mother's most precious belongings.

I think that it's just the lighting in the movie shot that makes people not like it because you can't see the diamonds reflecting light.
I actually have the white gold version of this ring (got it probably over a year ago) and it is very pretty and delicate looking and it gets compliments all of the time

Maybe she will be one of those people that puts the engagment ring on the right hand and wear her wedding band on her left. There are people that does that cause it is impossible to match a wedding band to oval shapped rings flush against eachother. I have a marquee so i know the pain! I eventually had a custom made band to fit around my engagment ring.
I personally refused to read anything about the leaked script, but if I were you I wouldn't rely on it too much. From what I did hear it was a draft, not the final, and besides that, all the good scenes in NM were added because of input from Chris, Rob, and Kristen.
Of course, since the dress is really more a part of BD, I think they will leave that to the crew of BD to create and un-veil.

I emailed the maker of the ring and she said that the one you can buy was not used. the costume department made their own version of the ring for the movie. although Stephenie has approved the remake that is available for sale, it was not used in the movie. so there are DIFFERENCES in it. and also…the one that you can buy has turned people's fingers a green color, so be careful.

I agree with the others who said that as long as Edward was proposing, who cares what the ring looks like? Even if he used a piece of curled up foil to propose to me, trust and believe I would have said YES!
FINALLY, some sanity. Yes, the descriptions of clothing etc just had to be ignored. Khaki skirts on Bella (ewwwwww), creme turtleneck on Edward (double ewwwww). And yeah, the ring is hideous. It does match the description vaguely, which is also pretty bad. But seriously, they could have been much more delicate with it, and I would have preferred yellow gold. It does not look vintage at all.
For the most part, the costuming on the films has been much better than described, which is good (apart from the awful royal blue painters smock on Alice in New Moon, and the horrible too tight bleached jeans on Rosalie in Twilight).
So far everything that was in the script is word for word in the trailer. I hope you are right and that they changed some stuff because otherwise ALOT of people are going to be mad. There is alot that was not in the script that should have been.

I agree! I don't know why people are complaining about how ugly it looks….that's exactly the way how Stephenie described it to look like.
