“‘Vampires Suck’ is a spoof on ‘Twilight,’” Matt Lanter (best known for “90210”) explained to MTV News at last night’s Teen Choice Awards. “I play the Edward character. It was fun. It was great, man. We pretty much follow ‘The Twilight Saga’ and just poke fun at it and have fun.”

Though Matt’s having fun branching out from his regular zip code, the obvious next question is… will millions of “Twilight” fans worldwide have fun, too? According to Matt, Twilighters just might. If they decide to give “Vampires Suck” a chance when it hits theaters August 18, that is.

“Am I scared [of the Twi-hards]? Everybody’s been asking me that. Yeah, I’m scared!” the actor next seen as Edward Cullen — oh wait, I meant Edward Sullen — confessed. Noticeable differences about Matt’s Edward include a hair poof standing at least six inches above his head.

“You know, what’s actually cool, though, is that I’ve gotten a lot of really good responses, a couple of Twitter [responses], you know, stuff like that,” Matt explained. “A lot of people say they’re really excited for it. It’s adding to the story. I mean, let’s face it. They’re so huge and it’s such a successful franchise that we wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t for them.”

So just because you’re in love with the “Twilight” films, don’t rule out “Vampires Suck” completely. Maybe it’s your chance to finally have a few laughs over the ridiculous situations those characters get themselves into. Besides, as Matt reminded us yesterday, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!”

ANYWAY in one of Courtney Love’s most recently ramblings (also known as an interview), she drops the bomb that her daughter, Frances Bean (also the daughter of the late, and great, Kurt Cobain) was originally up for the role as Bella in the Twilight Saga -

Frances is so beautiful, but she doesn’t want to be famous. She was offered the part of Bella in the Twilight movies, and Tim Burton wanted her for Alice in Wonderland. But she wants to go to college: she’s very good at graphic novels

Courtney has also attempted to pimp out her daughter to Robert Pattinson. And she also spews out all of her family drama via Twitter. The likelihood of this being true is highly doubtful. I’m going with this being another one of Courtney tirades of nonsense.

TheBookSeller.com has reported that there will be limited edition white copies of Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn available to the UK this fall -

The four limited-edition titles: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, will be published by Atom on 14th October as £7.99 paperbacks, available only in the UK and Ireland, and Little, Brown’s territories including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India. The white editions will not be available in the US.

The white titles will only be published between October and Christmas 2010, replacing the usual black jackets. The titles will have crimson-edged pages and crimson back covers, with text confined to the spines.

A £75 hardback box-set of the Twilight Saga, plus the novella The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, is also being released on 12th October.

Fox News has a new interview with Vampires Suck star Jen Proske. Jen plays the part of Becca Crane, who is a parody of the Twilight Saga character Bella Swan.

In the interview Jen discuses how poking fun of Twilight is the highest form of flattery, and the fact that she is a fan of both the books and movies -

Were you a Twihard before being cast?

I had seen both the movies before I got cast. I was a fan of the books and the movies. I think “Twilight” is great. It’s such an amazing thing that everyone has created. Vampires are something exciting and sexy and fun to a lot of people, [including me.]

It features the Bella and Edward Barbies, and Sookie and Bill from True Blood. There is even a Barbie cameo at the end with Jacob Barbie and Sam Barbie (True Blood) that will make you laugh out loud!
