are you guys seriously making a big deal of this? It's a movie based on a TRUE story, and this is what CHERIE wore. DId you expect them to alter their costumes to make them more “appropriate” for Dakota, or for younger Twilight fans who may stumble across the pics or see the movie?? She is an actress, for gods sake. I can see why this outfit would be shocking in the 70's maybe, when the Runaways were first breaking out, but now that Dakotas wearing it in a FILM, I don't understand why its a big deal at all.

PS I saw the movie already and maybe that's why I'm going on a rant. When watching it, you forget that it's acutally Dakota and believe it's Cherie. That's how good she is. Dakota really did an amazing job, and although there are some racy parts, its what's to be expected with a young actress who wants to branch out, or take on more challenging roles.

  • FTW – Bring on Remember Me!

I only have 2 things to say in response to the comments on this post.

    1. You guys have seen this very same corset in every Runaways trailer out there, and I never heard a peep about someone thinking it was inappropriate then. What's the difference?

    2. If you insist on crying child pornography on these photos (which is absolutely ridiculous imo), then you should say the same for Taylor's pre-18 pics that all of you were drooling over, and BooBoo's shirtless pics where I didn't see any complaints about him being too young to pose topless. If you're gonna take a stand on something, take it all the way. Don't make everything a double standard. Like I said in my first statement…what's the difference?

  • bella vita

I know its really pissing me off the way people keep casually throwing around “child pornography”. The more comments I see saying it the more angry it makes me. I feel like people have no right to talk about something that they clearly know absolutely nothing about because if they did they wouldn't dare to compare Dakota's pics as Cherrie to such a horrifying thing. REAL child pornography and the stories behind each one would make you physically sick as opposed to just offended and typing away on your keyboard.

“Life is hard and tough. Dakota is portraying that in this film” – I love that part of your comment because its a point that is clearly being missed by these people.

  • Breesmom~team Bel-Ami Rob

I am a mother. I am protective. My daughters would not have gone into acting as children or teenagers…because, if they had they would have been exposed to far too much, in my opinion.

As an actress, this is a milestone role for Dakota–between her and HER mother, this is just part of her career, their choices.

For me, if if were one of my daughter, yes, it would be a hard decision…one of the reasons I never put myself in any position such as this…but, I have made hard choices in my life before…just as her mother does every day…so I'm not going to judge what she and her mother decided.

This is a role…in a biography…about a 15 yr old girl…I think they approached it in that way.

    Just my thoughts.

  • Miami Coven Cherry Bomb

Okay I'm one of the most conversative folks on this site, but come on this is not child pornography Dakota is telling the story of a child who had been taken advantage of. The Miley Cyrus photo now that did scream of child porn, because Miss Cyrus was not promoting any role, she was being herself, now that was distrubing BIG TIME.

And quite frankly I too found women panting over Taylor and Boo Boo distrubing too, especially Boo Boo who is still a little boy.

  • bella vita

That's awful that anyone's feelings were hurt and they're upset. Poor JAYPAT. She did NOTHING wrong. She's a blogger and was doing her job. I'm sure she never expected the kind of response this post has received from some people. I certainly didn't and I'm still dumbstruck by it, but if people are making her feel bad about it then that's just not ok. That's completely unfair and needs to stop.

  • bella vita

LOL at Almost Famous as the “pretty, sanitized version” of the real life of rock n roll bands. Very true. The stories are typically pretty sad and gruesome which Almost Famous while a great movie just wasn't quite there. Still loved Kate Hudson's wardrobe as Penny.

  • Ahlrichs10

I think there is nothing really wrong here…granted i cringe a little when thinking of my little girl dressed like this at 15…but it is for a role after all! she is so talented and has proved her integrity over again.

All these ppl calling her look child pornography..r u serious? at least it's for a role…u would never see her walking down the street dressed in anything less than age appropriate.

Miley Cyrus, on the other hand…not so much! Cmon look at Britney spears, Xtina. all these girls made their name known flaunting their bodies…we all love them! (dont we?) LOL I do!

This girl is a classy, professional young lady and I would much rather my little girl look up to dakota than the Mileys of the world!

  • bella vita

NO! You mean she's doesn't look like this just because Dakota has a secret love of feathered hair, heavy makeup, stockings, and corsets that we never knew about?! Color me shocked! LOL

  • Miami Coven Cherry Bomb

The ball dropped on Miss Cyrus when those photos from her cell phone showing her bra, first pop out and oh did we forget Vanessa Hudgens underage topless photos? I mean you can safely say those parents are raising hookers, yes they are. Because one thing is a role another doing it for just doing it.

  • Breesmom~team Bel-Ami Rob

I do love “Almost Famous”. I really like all the performances in it. I know it Cameron Crowe's real life experiences–another 15 yr old kid on the road with a rock and roll band.

It does try for a realistic feel to life on the road but it also presents it in a “pretty, sanitized” version…probably so the movie would have mass appeal and get a PG-13 rating.

The movie and his story suffered for that, I'm afraid.

  • CF911 Flippofo

Yeah, it's fairly obvious that when people talk about issues like that in general conversation rhetorically and without the seriousness that it deserves, they have never had to deal with it personally.

Unfortunately, I have through my job. It is not something that I am bragging about. I wished that I could say that I haven't. Sometimes it's nice to be blissfully ignorant about things.

But also, people need to take responsibility for their comments. This is serious stuff that they are referring to. Think before you speak.

  • bella vita

I know I'm 23 and I've never been into Taylor at all (I don't dislike him, I'm just not attracted to him at all) because of his age, but even more so because he looks EXACTLY I mean identical like my 17 year old cousin which I never realized until my mom said something when we saw New Moon. Honestly what I find the most frightening is that people in this country are WAY more disturbed by sexuality or any nudity than they are violence. Violence when its part of telling a larger story doesn't bother me at all. Its all of these movies and games these days don't even bother with an actual story and are about nothing more than a nonstop blood and gore fest like the Saw or Hostel type movies.

  • EAD_TeamRobsTatteredTshirts

That was wht I was thinking. I heard about this one scene. It just looks really good, though. Thanks everyone for the good reviews.

  • bella vita

I love it too and its always been one of my favorite movies.

The performances really were brilliant, but its exactly like you said its almost like instead of going all the way with showing what Crowe's experience was really like in terms of the less glitzy uglier side they just stopped short and went only halfway.

I think you're right about the reason being them aiming for the mass appeal and PG-13 rating. Unfortunately we see this happen all the time with bio-pics and movies based on books and the movie/story really does always end up suffering for it.

That's why I'm so glad to see that it seems they definitely didn't try to put the glossy hollywood sugar coat on the Runaways and are going with what really happened. I just can't see Joan, Cherrie, or Lita going along with it, being on set, working with the actors, and contributing like they have otherwise. I can't wait for this movie!

  • Carter04~TeamLegHitch~*MC-VG*

    *skims through posts*

pfft. its amazing how people get so uptight over the most ridiculous things…..
wheres the fun in commenting on here if everyone just HAS to start something every time?

anyyyway! good job Dakota! you look amazing girl, and you show that you can be fifteen and fierce ALL at the same time ;D

  • TeamDelish-CarolinaCullenCoven

That's what a good actor does-makes people forget that it's all an act! Dakota must be doing something really right. Go girl! *clicks like*

  • TeamDelish-CarolinaCullenCoven

So true! It's colder than a witch's t#tty here when Halloween rolls around and girls still go out in less than what Dakota's wearing in that picture! You hit the nail on the head with your comment there. LOL

  • ♥Im_with_the_vampires♥ (Jenny)

    Clicks like… Preach on sister…. :)

  • Breesmom~team Bel-Ami Rob

True. I read the script for this and it seems they are really going to get being on the road with a rock band right with this one!

    I can't wait!

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

dakota brought cherie to tears. and said at sundance that dakota is her fave actress of all time.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

    1) i think its cos they didnt get to see the whole outfit in the trailer. but come on, on youtube there's a vid of cherie performing cherry bomb in that outfit and doing her tricks with the mic. and dakota in that pic i had already seen before so im not surprised.

as for 2) its cos she's a girl. /rolls eyes/ we haven't gotten passed that in this century yet.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

its cos she's a girl and the rest are guys. /rolls eyes/

were not in the 19th century! unless were in the twilight zone then my mistake. lol

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

seriously, they forget she's growing up and would've eventually someday taken on a more serious, riskier, adult role. its cos they've seen her on the screen since she was, practically, a baby. i get that. but don't they know this film is RATED R?? and BASED ON A TRUE STORY?? thats how it was in the 70s.

so their okay with kstew having no bra on in some scenes (i dont mind it though) and making out with a girl and playing a prostitute/stripper and wearing skimpier outfits in WTTR but with dakota its different? i don't get it.

and i dont see anything wrong with the outfit. i've seen worse and more provocative outfits that girls and women where EVERYDAY.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

its for a role hon. i don't think anyone pushed her into this. im sure she made a conscious decision to play her. she isnt the first and won't be the last. and i dont think shes nude in the movie or if she is, it might not show at all. but it is rated r for a reason so we should expect some things and its based on a true story. some people have lived like this back then or even now.

and eventually dakota would've done something like this or risky in her career. she won't be a little girl forever. cherie currie was 15 at the time too. but thats how it was back in the 70s. there was this sexual exploration/liberation movement going on. and i've seen skimpier outfits worn by everyday women on the street.

  • FTW – Bring on Remember Me!

You are so right. And it's sad if you think about it. Cherie faced this exact criticism when she wore it at 15, and years later it's clear nothing has changed. :/

The corset is a staple for Cherie….I don't get why people are in an uproar. I wonder what they'll say about the rest of the movie. :/

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

yes! and i love taylor although im only 21 i didnt lust after him that much if at all when he was under age. and when i read other women's comments who are in their older 20s, 30s, 40s, i always cringed for him. cos it felt wrong to me sometimes.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

i dont think they have actually seen any porn…LOL. not that i have, but ive heard stories of how it goes down. and porn = ACTUAL SEX with a person. not ACTING like your having sex. big difference.

  • Jess aka MoonDawg

My initial reaction: Grow the hale up, people. It's art, for pete's sake.
My secondary reaction: Our wonderful NMM and EM crew would not be so insensitive or unlawful to post child porn…give them some credit!
My final reaction: If you don't like it, don't look at it. I personally want to thank all the great crew and mods here for doing such a fine job day in and day out. You have put major fun into our lives and have helped feed our incessant Twi-addictions. I will be forever grateful. So, keep doing what you are doing and let the nay-sayers move on…Just sayin'.

Anyone else feel appreciative of our NMM and EM pals?! Tell 'em so! They don't get thanked enough!

  • tweeter76 IAMSWITZERLAND-1/09

What really sucks about people cowing over these pics is that they are overlooking her talent . . . how far she's come . . . what an awesome opportunity this has been for her. Sure, I wouldn't want my 15yr old parading around in something like that . . . but I also get that this IS INDEED A MOVIE not real life.

For some strange reason the Twi-Fandom has a very difficult time separating reality from fantasy . . . fact from fiction.

If you are insulted by the pics . . . don't go see the movie, but don't pass judgement on someone you don't even know.

  • Jess aka MoonDawg

P.S. — YOU WOULD SEE MORE OF HER IF SHE WERE IN A 2PC. SWIMSUIT AT THE BEACH, SO GIVE IT A REST!!! Yes, I am yelling!

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

    really?? i don;'t believe that. :O

well they should check the rating. its rated r for a reason. lol

  • Gelly

I am one of Dakotas biggest fans. It started when I saw I am Sam and then Taken and since I have not missed one movie this girl has been in. I've made my boyfriend watch all her films and now my boyfriend to thinks she is a great actress. He cried when he saw Taken and Man on Fire and then he said to me “Great now I am a Dakota addict too” hahahaahah Awww Im sorry but she was the cutest kid ever. Anyway just wanted to say that the only celebrity I would really want to meet in real life is Dakota Fanning. She strikes me as a great person, someone really special. Ofcourse she is also one of the best actresses I have ever seen and this is coming from a 33 year old who has seen a lot of movies. You are very very lucky to have met her. She rocks in all the films shes played in and I am sure she is going to rock in the Runaways no matter what she is wearing. Although I am a bit shocked to see little Dakota wearing such things I still realise that she is an actress and that like it or not the roles that are going to be coming her way from now on aren't like The cat in the Hat or Dreamer. Anyway Dakota may your star shine even brighter. Maybe one day Ill get lucky and finally meet you.

  • Shannonsparkles-Teambreakrecs!

I've been meaning to watch Hounddog. I'm a big fan of Dakota – just wasn't sure how graphic the scene was….. should I watch it?

  • Shannonsparkles-Teambreakrecs!

we are such a tight family around here and all very protective! I love that you check IP addresses!

  • yasjj

I know I just said that it wasn't so bad there ;)

  • http://www.robs-closet.blogspot.com/ RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)

    LMAO, you called it!

  • jenbojenbojeno

Come on, she is acting! You can't seen anything. I'm the same age as her and if it was a role I would probably wear this also as long as you couldn't see anything that you shouldn't be seeing and is professionally done.
It's not like she's going to wear this as an everyday outfit.

  • chicadelcaribe

I can't believe people on here are so prudish! Yes, her clothes are a tad bit racy but 1) it's for a MOVIE, portraying a character that was 15 and DID dress like that and 2) THIS IS NO WHERE NEAR CHILD PORN.
I seriously can't believe people are comparing this to child pornography; it's absurd. Yes, it's a little provocative, but it's not like she dresses like this in real life and it's not like her boobs are hanging out or anything. And really, I see 14 and 15 year olds at the mall who dress just as or more provocative… I feel like people on here are just looking for something to b**** and complain about.

  • ssnee

Lol i soo agree with you. Double standards galore (sp?) anyway if people are pissed out about this pic, what abput the sex scenes that will be in the movie?????

  • http://www.twitter.com/brooke_tastic Chaskes_Lover (HeKnowsMe)

IT'S FOR A F***ING MOVIE!!!! STOP BEING A BUNCH OF F***ING PRUDES!!!! IT'S NOT LIKE SHE GOES AROUND DRESSED LIKE THIS ALL THE F***ING TIME!!!

    *takes a deep breath*
    Ok….I'm done.
*drops the mic. Exits stage right*

  • belladonna101

Bravo kid Bravo!! I was 7yrs old when the Runaways hit it big and I loved them they made me believe that I could be whatever the hell I wanted to be and no man his going to inhibit that. The Runaways is about female impowerment of course they didn't know that they were pioneers back than, but they certainly were. When I first found out that Dakota was playing Cherie I thought to myself ” Is she going to wear the bustier or is she going to chicken out?” I am glad that Dakota had the b*lls to do so. I am glad that Dakota is trying to shed her goodie too shoes image as an actress. The worst thing you can do is get typecasted. Also on a personal note in regards to your writing you were very eloquent in your plea and its hard to believe that you are a teenager. Of course teenagers don't talk or dress like I did in my generation. All I wanted to say is thank you for being sane. I know alot of parents won't allow their children to see this. Truth be told kids today watch worse things on cable.

  • http://fanfiction.net/u/1676148 Alice Whitlock 111

Wow, awesome! I can totally see her as Cherie (spelling?)

  • Gray Silhouette

I don't think a generic picture of Rob or Kristen is going to help you identify anyone's individuality. Certainly no more so than “ILuvEdward4eva” would.

  • Breesmom~team Bel-Ami Rob

Having an “avatar” and a screen name on a site does help in identifying a commenter–not his “real life” identity, surely, but the face and name they go by on here, their “alternate” identity.

If everybody chose to remain a “gray silhouette” it would get very confusing, wouldn't you think? It's good that we can each choose our own “identities”. The generic “gray silhouette” is provided by the Disqus application as a sort of an anonymous starter picture until a replacement picture is procured. If you choose not to do this, it is fine.
