… I'm scared you guys. Why wouldn't there be enough Edward in the first place? I think my bunny slippers just ran for cover. I REALLY hope they don't ruin this movie. So, I've noticed a problem… (besides many others) there aren't enough funny moments in these movies. Rather, there aren't enough funny Edward moments in these movies. They're leaving out all of his good qualities and making people who haven't read the books go team Jacob!
And is anyone else depressed about all they left out in the Eclipse script? There's no Porsche bribery, there's no leg hitch scene, there's no talk about college. I'm going to miss the line, “Penguins, lovely.”
I absolutely hate the Edward and Jacob confrontation at the school, there's so much wrong with it.
And I miss when E & B are passing notes and are talking about what E would do if the plane was crashing. And then of course everyone's making bets on whether Edward or Jacob would win in a fight.
And I miss when Bella stomps her foot and Jake thought girls only did that in movies, or when he talks about the circle of life. And then there's Bella's, “I never had a dog…” And Jake's “A lifetime of servitude up for grabs, all you have to do is forgive me.” Remember? Bella had traded a lifetime of servitude for a box of conversation hearts. And it was great when Bella told Jacob she thought of his kiss as more of an assault. The way they would tease and play off each other was great! So many funny moments are amiss! And sweet moments too.
Why the heck is Wuthering Heights not mentioned in the Eclipse movie? It was so relevant. And it was somewhat humorous when E found he could relate to Heathcliff and the passage that made him realize that. It’s funny that B convinces herself that she dreamed that because the passage said, “I would have drank his blood.” And it’s stupid they don’t have Bella’s main reason for choosing Edward. “I know who I can’t live without.” And then Edward, “I cannot live without my life. I cannot live without my soul.” They should have had Wuthering Heights. They had Romeo and Juliet in New Moon. Sure they didn’t have a Pride and Prejudice reference in Twilight. But this was needed!
I also miss when E kept thinking B was awake when she wasn’t after the fight training. “Are you really awake this time?”
And I'm also sad they don't have the part when Edward is distraught that Bella “killed” her car stereo.
And they really don't show how hard it was for Edward to make some of the decisions he did. Like in the meadow when he's complying with Bella's wants. They don't have that all! That was major character development for Edward.
I also think some of the tent stuff is too short. And it's sad they don't have the part where Bella tells Edward to fight for her after she kisses Jake. And I miss Bella crying in Edward's arms when she says goodbye to Jake. *Sigh.*
LOL. Does anyone else miss when Edward tells Bella she looks “sexy” in her motorcycle gear. I swear that was the first time he'd ever said that word. And it was so heartbreaking when E bought the motorcycle to ride with B but he realized it was something only she and Jake did and he had to give it to Jasper.
And why do they never have the movie titles in them? Like, “The clouds I can handle but I can't fight with an Eclipse.” There's also a lot of missing Alice and Bella moments. Like when Alice convinces Bella to let her do the wedding, or when Alice is sympathizing with the decision that Bella will have to make. It's simply a crime that Edward doesn't give Bella her “hand-me-down” but she gets the bracelet from Jake.
And I think the movie's missing a lot of Bella's perceptiveness. The characters don't seem as intelligent…
Maybe if there was less Riley! Grrr! It's sad that Edward doesn't call Bella, “love” in the movie. I thought that was an important character trait too.
And anyone else notice that they don't have Jake's epilogue and Leah's saying things she shouldn't until Breaking Dawn? And I'm gonna miss Bella's Anne of Green Gable flashbacks. And they didn't explain the Quil/Claire thing well enough.
And they've never explained the vampire mating thing well enough either. It's FOREVER, like imprinting. People aren't gonna get that.
I miss Edward freaking out when Bella reveals that everything’s connected at the graduation.
They also left out how the wolves truly started out before they ran into a cold one. They also didn't explain enough why Bella doesn't want to marry Edward. Some of the lines in the Eclipse script… Ugh!
And it was so cute when Edward would sing Bella to sleep. Or when he reassured her when she was in danger that he'd be back as soon as Charlie was snoring. And it was so adorable when he'd play with her hair when she was on the phone.
And it was funny what all the Cullens said to reassure Bella when she says she should become a vampire. “I'm glad Edward didn't kill you. Everything's so much more fun with you around.” – Emmett “I'm offended. You're not actually worried about this are you?” – Alice “That's between you and Carlisle. But of course I'd be willing to make it between you and me anytime you want. You know my condition.” I loved how E smiled angelically after saying that. LOL.
I still can’t figure why they changed the locations in which some things happened. The leg hitch was funny! It was after Alice had kidnapped her and after Rose was supposed to tell her story. I miss the, “Angry grizzly bears will look tame compared to what you have waiting at home for you.” And Edward’s “I was prepared for the wrath that would but grizzlies to shame and this is what I get? I should infuriate you more often.” They were supposed to talk about his hunting trip then. And that E was gonna let B see J. And you know B was supposed to stay angry at J longer. And they don’t talk about the issues when E and B having sex enough…
And I liked when they skipped school to go talk to Jasper. When he originally was supposed to tell his story. I miss Emmett’s “Skipping school, Bella?” Edward then answered, “We both are.” And Emmett said “This is her first time through. She might miss something.” LOL.
They failed to say how human blood made the vampires stronger fractionally and they're missing some great kisses. LOL.
It's annoying the Cullens didn't contact Tanya's family. It’s stupid they’ve never mentioned them in the movies! Irina and Laurent’s connection is important in BD. And it’s strange that Bella's not freaking out that everyone’s in danger like she did in the books, wanting to become a vampire to help. And what about the concert tickets B was supposed to get E & A? Or when Edward was explaining how the pack's like a Soap Opera?
And as Edward never expressed that he wanted to get Bella a car in these movies… it’s strange when she says, “I’ll let you buy me a car.” You know, when she’s asking Edward to sleep with her. *Sigh.* “Technically, I can’t ever sleep with you.” “Real mature, Edward.” Once again, not enough funny.
I'm going to shut up now. But some of the stuff in Eclipse is so disappointing!
i usually want the directors and writers to go by the book, but sometimes i like to see new twists or more action added cuz ya gotta find a way to differentiate the movie from the book and make it your own. Well my one request, would be they kill jacob off cuz the character is just too boring. Not that he's not a good guy, but he's just boring.

That's been the problem all along. MR has NO romance in her system. This is supposed to be a love story between E & B,but MR is not capturing that. From the time they see each other in the lunchroom this saga has been leading up to one thing—E&B together at last. Come on,MR READ. Put some interaction and intensity between them that the book shows. Remember-read my lips—It's a love story.

I'm 100% with Vampie. You need to send this in to Summit. Really, really well said. You wrote about so many things that bother me too. I can't believe MR doesn't have Edward calling Bella love- it's throughout the whole series and one of the simplest but sweetest things between them. And Edward singing Bella her lullabies. All of these little things that would more effectively help show how completely in love they are, especially for those who haven't read the series.
I also LOVED the conversation hearts from Jake on Valentine's day and I'm bummed that wasn't in there.

I agree – the New Moon trailers revealed way too much. That's why I'm happy they haven't released one for Eclipse yet.
More Edward gives me a little hope for the movie. They always seem to forget that the whole Twilight series of books is about Edward & Bella's out of the ordinary love story. People in love share casual & serious kisses, they hold hands, hold each other and tell them how much they love each other. They do this in the books and it doesn't take any extra time to show these things in a movie. The biggest problems with New Moon were 1. It was basically composed of scenes from the book & didn't really tell the story. 2. They did a very poor job of showing the love between Edward & Bella, they didn't really seem to interact together even when they were together. You saw very little of the chemistry between the two. In Twilight & New Moon there was hardly any physical affection. I fear they will make these same mistakes in Eclipse.
I agree with your comments (going on a rant of my own):
In the first movie, in which the foundation is supposed to be laid, we didn't even get to see Edward and Bella's relationship progress and develop properly – it went way too fast and many things were left out and as a result I feel that their relationship isn't being done justice in the movies (I completely agree with your last sentences as well MSTG). It's a huge shame. I also, wholeheartedly, agree with your comment “They're leaving out all of his good qualities and making people who haven't read the books go team Jacob!” and your thoughts about them leaving out all the endearing and sweet moments of the Edward & Bella relationship. I miss those moments.
I do not like MR's scripts at all (too much changing, omitting, and lack of understanding of the Twilight series and its characters) and I can not understand why Summit didn't replace her immediately after the first movie. Perhaps they attributed some of the movie's success to her but I would very much disagree if they did. Summit, please don't let her ruin Breaking Dawn as well!
And yes, what is up with the Riley thing? I remember MR saying a while back something along the lines of him being more prominent in the film than in the book and I was like “What?!”. She doesn't seem to know that what the fans want is the film to be like the book and that we would take more Edward- (like Summit seems to want as well if they told DS to add more Edward after the first screening) , Bella- and even Jacob- (for you team Jacob-fans, not for me; go team Edward!) interactions any day.
And finally, I'm in complete agreement with the people here who think you should send this to Summit – they need to start listening to the fans. And yes, why would there not be enough Edward in the first place, DS+editing team?

I´m going to repeat myself I know but this is how it´s going to be until I see the actual film at the cinema, in Eclipse we find a very different Edward, one that has gone through a lot of things and finally has realised that he just can´t live without Bella soooo, he doesnt look at himself in such a negative position and that´s why he interacts so much with her, ( kissing, hugging, leg hitch) etc and that´s why he doesn´t hold back when facing Jacob…now he feels right about having her…
In the other hand, Bella never EVER, even when she realise that she also loves Jacob has the slightest thought of leaving Edward, and I´m not going to allow a film that presents a BElla choosing Edward just for pity…because that is not the case at all…
And finally the fighting…OH YESSS…all right with me about the fighting as long as they present Edward the VAMPIRE fighting with revenge and hatred not a peaceful and lonely guy that has to fight, no way he is willing to fight from the very beginning…other things are out of the spirit of the book and inside the spirit of the script writer….

This tweet confirms what a lot of us have been thinking all along. Slade is not Team Edward. (He doesn't have to be – he just has to tell the story as is). There is no coincidence that he showed the first cut to the studio and now he is adding more Edward. Summit have obviously told him he has to add more Edward. Hence, his caps on EDWARD. He did not have that much Edward in and has been made to re-edit. Studios always have the final say. I hope this adding of Edward scenes is not done in a spiteful way (No romance, all Jacob-facing sniping).
And I have an awful feeling that the lines “I love you. I want you. Right now” is not in the film. I just can't see them fitting it in somehow.. I think they will show Bella trying.. but they won't show Edward giving in.

I agree with everything you said. And t's not because you re team edward 100%. That is the way the books are. It's always Edward. New Moon is still about Edward. It's not about Jacob. jacob's and bella's friendship is secondary or evolves around the plot. SM did not write new moon to take the focus off Edward and put it on Jacob. New Moon is about the darkest time in bella's Life when she lost Edward. All her thoughs were on Edward. Her longing and her suffering for him. Thats the main focus of the book the reason behind new moon. Just because Edward is absent for most of the book does not take away from him. If anything his absence shows just how much he really means to bella. edward is there throughout the entire book whether it's physically present or in her thoughts he is always there. Jacob comes in after the first few chapters and after she says goddbye to him her every thought is not about him. It's EDWARD always. He is the only one who can make her whole again and the only one she wants to be with even if he does not want her. But enough because i can go on and not shut up.:)

And the way Bella think's she dreaming in New moon after Italy. THAT was a really big thing to miss. The way she thinks he'll leave just after he has droped her off, and the way he has to convince her that he is with her, and he's not just a dream., *sigh* I know they are New moon stuff, but still.. Just something I have thought about.
And for Eclipse.. year think you have covered most of the things I would have sayed, but there's probably a lot more if I think about it. But the major dissapointment in the script is that there is a proper tent scene. yes true but we need to remember that its summit who has final say on what goes to the public. they can change anything. and the last two films….not good. twilight didnt really follow the book really well but it had the emotions but no blood testing scene i like it in the book they could have put it in the movie. nm followed the book but miss so many important things like emotions and the return from italy and it looked chopped up. the way SM wrote it originally there was no eclipse and the story went on bella and edward still got there happy ever after. Eclipse is about bella's decision to become an immortal it's not about jacob. his character revolves around the story or the plot bella's decision to become a vampire.

The reason we have twilight is because of him not so much bella, he was the one who inspired SM to write in the first place. It's because of edward that she wrote twilight. Thats per SM herself.

I don't get the impression he likes cheesiness (thus why I have a feeling he's a Jake fan, like most guys) so hopefully the crap they'll edit out is the boring stuff. we all have favorite characters and we continued reading for different reasons. however twilight captured our attention because of this unique love story a vampire falling in love with an ordinary human girl. Jacob had a minor role and the werewolves were not in the first book. so i can t see how anyone read the first book because of him and the werewovles. So it was not jacob and the werewolves along with vampires that captured our attention in the first place. For some of us it did later on.
The point i was trying to make (And a long one at that) was that SM wrote twilight because of edward's character (vampire)had he been human she probably would not have bothered. this is what made this love story unique. he is falling in love with bella, and bella with him, and at the same time wants to kill her or is trying not to. She wanted to write that story because she wanted to kow what would happen next and she continued writing until she had written a book uintentionally. edward was the one who inspired her to write. She is a writer because of him. What would be the point of any of the characters if it were not for edward and bella's love story. that is why i said that they are the backbone because it is because of this unique love story that the book exists.
Yes, that line. Ugh. Or Edward saying something like “you're my only reason to stay alive, if that's what I am” Gag, come on! Hahaha…not that I don't like romance, but I think these lines are geared towards 12 year olds that have no concept of real relationships LOL

just stating that i personally read it after watching the 1st movie cos my curiosity got triggered and it seemed interesting. since im not into vampire anyways, never was. first time i like vampires, (the cullens) lol.
but i agree with your assessment, the story is what triggered my curiosity although it has been done before and i found edward to be weird and bella annoying. SM has good skills and creating suspense. but the main character is bella and then gradually it grows into revolving around them 3, followed by nessie.
yeah i really got into it during new moon, cos newer characters were introduced. i love the wolfpack and native american culture has always held interest for me. i love it.

Exactly, just let it be. The book was written a certain way for a reason. Like i said unless Slade is going to somehow add scenes that are 100x better, it would be wise to leave it as it is.
Exactly, therefore I'm not sure why everyone turned so rude with “'more Edward”. I just need eclipse what I read into movie form. No extra bella & Edward & sex scenes & no extra Jake. Just eclipse.

Im so dissapointed about the interpretation of books… Twilligt was made poorely, New moon ah well ok more like the story but still bad and I read the scritp of Eclipse and im so dissapointed…they left important things out and its really sad…I think MR shouldnt have been let writting the scripts cos she really has no romance or soul…And why the hell is she making up her own lines when books have great lines in them..I think Summint should have let SM help with the lines or just use the original lines from book why is that so hard…You should send that to Summit so that they dont ruin BD.
P.S. I love this site you guys are awesome
My fave is also eclipse.. and Twilight 'cause of the romance. those are the books where they spend most time together..

yes she said that this is bella's story how she overcame the obstacles in her path and fought her way to the place where she wanted to be.
But where is the place where bella wants to be? by Edwards side forever. So this is not a story about bella's life in general. The story revolves around Edward. Bella has one goal and that goal is all about edward and nothing else her whole life is about edward. So you need Edward for bella to have a story. He is just as important as bella. You can take any of the other characters out of the story and the story will exist. You take edward out and the story of Bella meeting a vampire falling in love and overcoming obstacles to be where she wants to be, by edwards side forever, went out the window. there is no story for bella to tell.

i saw the movie first never heard of the books. Actually my hubby made me watch it because i like vampires but scary movies not about love. so i gave in and barely watched it i was on my computer. at the end of the movie i was upset turned to him and said this is the piece of garbage that you made me watch. but the next day i saw it again and i fell in love with the cullens it wasn't edward and bella so much and i really liked jacob. then i saw in the credits that is based ona book. read the book and fell in love with E/B. Movie is so different from the book
