Do Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning’s Parent’s Approve of Their ‘The Runaways’ Drug Abuse?

Ted Casablanca from E! recently sat down with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning and asked them what their parents thought of the characters they are portraying, and the drug abuse that those characters partake in -

With Dakota snorting drugs off the floor and spewing some foul language, it’s clear this film is a huge departure from the squeaky-clean New Moon, where everyone’s celibate and mopey.Not exactly family fare here, folks.

So what do Stewart and Fanning’s own parents think about their babies going at it onscreen? We asked:

How do your parents feel about watching you act out some of these sexual and drug-infested situations? Is it hard for them?
Dakota: “One of the first movies I ever did was a pretty intense subject matter, so my parents have kind of gotten used to it by now. They know it’s just acting. They know it doesn’t come home with me.”
Kristen: [To Dakota.] “Do you find that it’s gotten easier [for our parents]? Because I find that it has.”

Why?
Kristen: “I was more nervous about it when I was younger, and it was a slow wearing down of like, ‘OK, Kristen’s going to do what she’s going to do. She’s just going to do these movies.’ Not that they were against it; I just sort of took away that projection. I sort of didn’t care anymore, you know, ‘Are you guys cool with this?’ ”

Kristen and Dakota really grew up in the limelight, so we’re sure their parental units have to be OK with some of the raunchy stuff. If not, let’s hold hands and pray they get there ’cause The Runaways is gonna be a tough one to swallow.

But let’s not overshadow the fact that these two gals give amazing performances as Joan and Cherie Currie—and after you get past the shock factor that you’re watching Kristen and Dakota, you find yourself totally enthralled in the flick. Great stuff.

Still, as much as best buddies K and D loved portraying these rock stars, they aren’t quite ready to give up their day jobs.

Both women gave an emphatic “no” when we asked if they would like to sing on future projects.

I’m not shocked that both Kristen and Dakota’s parents are fine with their daughters playing the roles of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. They clearly realize they are actors, and in order to prove yourself as an actor you need to play diverse roles. And you also need broaden your horizons as an actor.

2nd? Yea I wondered what their parents thought. Yea, if I was playing a girl in the runaways I hoped my parents would be ok with it. I mean you're a teenager so you can't always be innocent in every scene. It's a great role.

It would be completely different if they were let's say Lindsay Lohan and were acting like this in their real lives. It is a role, acting. And Dakota and Kristen are very mature for their age and understand this. Both have squeaky clean images.

well said:) Kristen has been acting since she was a kid and Dakota since she was 6! so yes they are veteran actors most child actors don't make it this far especailly the ones from the 70's and 80's take Cory Haimes who died of a drug overdose the guy that was in Lost Boys? and Lindsay Lohan that woman is on her way to being very destructive she was a child star Kristen and Dakota havea awesome future! thank god they are happy healthy and love what they do:) and keep their beautiful heads above water thank god!

Of course their parents are ok with it. They did just as bad if not worse things when they were way younger. Anyone ever see Dakota in Houndog? She was only like 11! (she's probably done worse but I just watched that one a couple weeks ago so it's fresh in my mind. LoL!) And Kristen has Welcome to the Riley's coming out… um stripper! hello!

Hopefullt they will continue avoiding the Hollywood poison for as long as possible. It seems when they get into that rat race they go off the deep end. Just want them and Rob to stay themselves. Screw polically correct speech and actions.
