Eclipse drew barrymore Drew Barrymore Happy Not to be Directing Eclipse eclipse news In an new interview over at Entertainment Wise Drew Barrymore talked about Eclipse, and how she was one of the contenders to make the third installment in the Twilight Saga -

However, in an interview with the Irish Times, Barrymore said she wasn’t upset because she had not fallen “in love with” the script.

“Timing-wise, I’m glad that it didn’t work out and everything I think happens for whatever reason it’s supposed to,” she said.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing that film. And there’s been two or three others that I’ve flirted with.”

She added: “The thing that’s really the most important for me is to be so in love with what I do that it’s what gets you out of bed and makes you work six to seven days a week, 18 hours a day.

“Unless you’re that invested, you won’t care about every single detail.”

No offense Drew, I like you and all, but we are glad too!

The great thing is that at least she was smart enough to realize that she couldn’t invest everything into the movie. I actually do really like Drew Barrymore! But she just wasn’t right for Eclipse.

What do you think?

ohhhhhh im so freaking happy she didn't direct eclipse. That Whip It movie was her FIRST movie…we want our movies to get better…not to get worse! We already had to force ourselves to love the craptastic first Twilight movie. Oh, Praise God she's staying as far away from Twilight as she can. Phew.

  • abbyskrilla

HAHAHA was it really that bad?

  • abbyskrilla

I dont know…David Slade has really been involving us in the process.. I wouldn't write him off just yet… I think he gets my vote.

I agree but I don't know if he can pull off the darkside of it. I love Drew barrymore but she was definitely not right for eclipse. She has a reputation for showing up late to sets and procrastinating. Like she said I don't think she could devote all the time and attention that needs to be done with all the films in the Saga.. I do want to see Whip it though!!!!

I would have shot myself if DB got Eclipse.

I missed that, but when I saw the pic of rob in a robe,
well, lets just say my hert beat a little faster……
    sweating……
    swooning…..
I shall say no more or ill be moded!

I agree with Drew. Let me make it clear – she loves the books; she wasn't inlove with the script. Given the way Rosenberg adapted Twilight, I wouldn't be surprised. The stupid bitch obviously read Twilight as she wrote the script. I think that the New Moon and Eclipse scripts will be better; but that's becasue she was more invested after seeing Twilight's success. Someone else could do a better job than rosenberg. In Twilight, she totally omited the parts of the book that appealed to the readers most – Edward and Bella's exchanges and their conversations. Instead, we get Stewart and Patinson talking to each other inaudibly, while music played. Sad.

I think it's funny how she says she wasn't really “not in love” with the script after she didn't get the job. Umm I believe thats short for “I really don't know what I'm doing and no one would trust me to do an awesome movie like this so I'm gona pout and say I didn't like it!”

botox queen. ha, I love it!

If Drew is happy that she isn't directing Eclipse than I must be ecstatic!

    Team CW for BD!

Drew Berrymore was being considered for being the Director for Eclipse????

Alright I'm not slamming her or anything, but…….well…….okay I'm just gonna be blunt and say it. Dont be mad at me, please. I just don't think that she was right for the part of being the Director. Let me explain that. When an actor/actress decides to become a director and step out of the acting field temporairely or permanently, how they would fair as a director is often foreshadowed by what roles they played in the movies they stared in. In Drews case, I'm simply stating that based on the kinds of roles she's had in movies in the past, I don't think she would be able to bring justice to Eclipse on the big screen.

That is only my oppinion don't yell at me saying I'm wrong.

Unless I'm thinking of a different actress, though she's the only one I know of that I've heard of currently with any relation to directing a movie. I don't remember what movie it is, but I do know she has directed a movie this year.

And apparently she's happy to not be the director for Eclipse, so I'll stop talking now.

    *wow that's a lot*

HAHAHA oh my goodness. I'm enjoying the implication that Drew Barrymore's directing would have been what was wrong with “Eclipse”. Right.

    Good choice, Drew.

    Drew ? Nahhhh,
Drew is a mediocore director and needs to stick to romance comedys.

The Eclipse movie has the potential to be an outstanding Action/Romance film.

Saw the movie loved the books disliked Eclipse. Beginning was very choppy. No flow. Felt like we were rushing through… Makeup/hair were terrible. Holy wigs – and too much makeup on the vamps. I found it distracting. Victoria's role???? Why was it so large (because her last name is Howard?) The books were from Bella's point of view and when change that it becomes less interesting….So many scenes left out and new scenes enlarged or added. WHY? The third book was my favourite of the four but so far the second movie is my favourite.
