Eclipse drew barrymore Drew Barrymore Happy Not to be Directing Eclipse eclipse news In an new interview over at Entertainment Wise Drew Barrymore talked about Eclipse, and how she was one of the contenders to make the third installment in the Twilight Saga -

However, in an interview with the Irish Times, Barrymore said she wasn’t upset because she had not fallen “in love with” the script.

“Timing-wise, I’m glad that it didn’t work out and everything I think happens for whatever reason it’s supposed to,” she said.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing that film. And there’s been two or three others that I’ve flirted with.”

She added: “The thing that’s really the most important for me is to be so in love with what I do that it’s what gets you out of bed and makes you work six to seven days a week, 18 hours a day.

“Unless you’re that invested, you won’t care about every single detail.”

No offense Drew, I like you and all, but we are glad too!

The great thing is that at least she was smart enough to realize that she couldn’t invest everything into the movie. I actually do really like Drew Barrymore! But she just wasn’t right for Eclipse.

Um, Just saying here that I love all her movies. Own them all. I just didn't think this was quit her style… I was not insulting her or her movies.

I like Drew and all but I think she is way too SUNSHINE and DAISIES for Eclipse, or for any of the Twilight Saga movies for that matter. Although it may be interesting to see her take on the first one if they were ever to do a remake…as long as they keep the same cast. Can't be any worse than CHardwicke, can it?!!! I am interested to see how DS pulls of the 3rd movie, but something tells me that Weitz would be a fantastic choice for Breaking Dawn. I heard mention of Tim Burton, but I think it would be too off the wall if it were left to his discretion. SO, for now, CW for BD!!!!!!!

But yes.. she certainly isn't right for this movie, glad she seemed to realize that. I think that dipwad MR needs harder directors, ones who are more invested, and who kick her in the a$$ when (not if) she leaves important stuff out. Drew just doesn't fit that bill!

I like Drew for her light-hearted movies.. but I don't know that I'm interested in her directorial debut movie.

… i watched the commentary of 30 days of nite, and its too funny, b/c they actually talk about her and that she was making a movie that involved the roller derby, that was 2 yrs ago…

what a kawinky dink, they would mention her on a david slade movie and then ask both of then to direct eclipse… * queues twilight zone music*…

She's cool, that would be so awesome if Tim Burton did it, but not quite his style. I don't think Barrymore would have made it how I envisioned. Thrilled to hear David Slade is set to direct Eclipse btw

That is what I was thinking! We need a new writer other then “Botox Queen”, to write the scripts for these movies. If it weren't for the amazing talent of Chris Weitz, I'm sure New Moon could have turned into another crapy adaptation of our favorite books. I want people to watch these movies and understand why we love the books sooo much!

I saw Whip It on Friday night, i laughed, I cried. It was a really great movie! It was more then just a “roller derby” movie, it had depth. And Ellen Page was fantastic in it as usual.

Yeah when I think of Drew I think of Charles Angels… Not a good movie. LOL I like her as a actress but no way is she ready for The Saga…. she does NOT have enough exp esciply with action parts. Why would Summit even consider her in the first place? Dont get that one.

Love Drew Barrymore as an actress, but I am sooo glad she isn't directing Eclipse. She isn't experienced enough and Eclipse is way out of her league with the CGI needed and what not.
As far as Slade goes. I'm trying to keep upbeat but I have a feeling he has a darker feel for Eclipse than nessesary. I'm worried he's going to get so caught up with the fight scenes and gore that the sexual tension between our favorite love triangle will be lost and that's what made Eclipse my favorite book!

Tim Burton would be horriible for Breaking Dawn! He is an amazing director, but he definitely has a “style”. His style which is very dark wouldn't translate well at all for Breaking Dawn. From what I've seen Chris W. would be amazing for BD as well.

I LOVE J. Depp too, but doubt they would bring that big a name on. There are a few vamps that will have bigger parts than others.

There are lots of big name people I would love to see come on as the side vamps, but don't think it would happen because most of them want big bucks and are use to being the big stars in the movie which won't happen here.

But I do like that they give actors who are not so well known a chance and then it's all over with after that because they're big stars.

I saw a baby the other day on the net. Her name is Easton August and she's 17 months old. Her mom is Elisabeth Röhm. My goodness she was perfect to play Renesmee. She has the same color hair as Rob and it's all curly and big brown eyes. She's a doll baby.

I know probably not many big names but one could hope I know since I read BD I wondered what baby would be good enough to play Renesmee. I have a 1 1/2 yr old with light brown curls that come down to her shoulders with big brown eyes and I thought hmm,.. maybe but then I thought my child is a beauty to me but I don't know if I would be able to handle the hate some ppl have you know so you know the thought quickly flew out of my head as fast as it flew in LOL but yeah I can't wait for all these movies I feel like they are going to be truly amazing

Team Chris W. for Breaking Dawn! Uh, Drew, love you but don't try to play down the fact that you didn't get the movie. You were campaigning like a champ to direct Eclipse. You didn't get it now you're trying to slam the script? Sorry Drew, I don't believe you. Melissa put together a good script. If you read the book, then you know what's in the script, it's that simple. Eclipse is going to be a good movie. The actors are into it and are enthused about it. I don't think you could handle the material due to the “special effects”. You don't have a big “special effect” background in directing films especially dealing w/CGI. So Drew, don't go there. Love you still but be honest.

PS. We're glad you didn't get the directing job as well. Nothing against you. Love you but this movie is too big for you as far as CGI.

I'm glad she did not direct it either but what makes me nervous is that she , she was not in love with the script. That implies that the script/was bad. Even Rob said that he had problems with it.

I def would not say it's a bad script just because she doesn't like it. It just means it's not the kind of script she looks for. In all honesty, Im very happy it's not her type. Drew barrymore is a great actress. But her person is too flaky/hippieish for my taste. And if that contributes anything to what she “falls in love with”, all i can say is THANK GOD Eclipse doesn't fall into that category. No disrespect though, she's a great actress.

All I remember MR saying when she was talking about both scripts is that when CW took over that she was glad becasue he went in and made revisions on NM and she did not have to bother with it anymore. With Eclipse she kept commenting on how tired she was and exausted after she wrote it. How these is so much action and that there will be alot of deleated scenes on the DVD she called “Easter Eggs”. That's what scares the hell out of me but I know they had a lot of revisions on the script so here's hoping that David fixed all the problems.

Yes poor Renesmee has a lot of haters just for being born. I personally love her, but others think she ruined everything for Bella and Edward and I don't see how having a child between two people that love each other does that. I know SM went all weird on how she came and stuff, but it went with the book. Then they hated that SM made Jacob imprint on her. Well that wasn't Renesmee's fault.

I think her character has it made the best. She has Edward and Bella as parents. She has Jacob's love. All the vampires spoil her to death she is a treasure to them a true gift. And all the wolves love her too and protect her as she is Jacob's imprint. None of them would ever let any harm come to her. They'd all die protecting her. Pretty good for one little baby.

You're right the child that plays that role will have a lot to endure with comments which is ashamed.

Tim Burton, has a great n unique way to do movies,but I doubt that he can show the environment and the feeling that reads Breaking Dawn.

I vote for Weitz too. We haven't seen it though (just most of it with all the sneak peeks lol), so we don't know for sure.
I think Tim Burton could bring some awesome visuals to the Twilight world, he'd have to keep the fans in mind though, and not change it TOO much!!
I think he could show the love though. I definitely feel love in Big FIsh and Edward Scissorhands…..

Im ALSO glad Drew didnt do it… I like her as well, BUT she said it herself… she didnt feel the love for the book/script and WE needed someone who was willing to give it their all to bring the best of it to screen and satisfy us =)
