UPDATE THURSDAY, AUGUST 26:

Box office numbers are in for Wednesday, August 25. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took in another $71,270 from 557 locations for a per theater average of $128, representing a decrease of 5.5% from Tuesday. This adds up to a cumulative domestic total of $297,439,330 after 57 days in release. Adding in overseas returns of $380.6M gives Eclipse a current worldwide total of $678,039,330.

Theater counts for the week of Friday, August 27 – Thursday, September 2 reflect a decrease of 81 for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse to 476 locations, dropping it from #18 to #20.

For those comparing the films in The Twilight Saga, at this point in its release history (after 57 days) New Moon had taken in $291,550,109. Eclipse is now at $297,439,330. Both films hit the $250M mark on the 16th day. The total domestic gross for New Moon was $296,623,634 (after 132 days). Eclipse has now broken that total by $816,696 (after 57 days). The film is now within striking distance of the elusive $300M mark. It needs about $2.56M to get to that number. It took New Moon 22 more days to earn an additional $2.56M after its 57th day, and Eclipse is clearly doing better. On the other hand, New Moon was in 724 theaters after 57 days while Eclipse is dropping to 476 locations tomorrow. Still, even after New Moon’s theater count had dropped to 444 (after 63 days) it still went on to take in another $3.8M. Therefore, it should take no more than one more month for Eclipse to earn another $2.6M and pass $300M.

Now wouldn’t be a bad time to start planning for your DVD release parties. The street dates for Twilight and New Moon were both on day 121 of their theatrical runs (Saturdays). Following that line of thinking, Eclipse’s 121st day will be October 28th, a Thursday. The following Saturday would be October 30th — Halloween weekend. On the other hand, sources have told me that Summit is planning for a holiday season release — some say November while others say Christmas time.

I can’t wait to hear about all the juicy extras on the Eclipse DVD/Blu-Ray! I don’t know about you .. but I’m hoping for A LOT of deleted scenes!

oh my god my(former) company used to do costume contests every year for Halloween oh man some of the costumes were amazing someone dressed up as a “Wrigelys” SPEARMINT gum stick and oh my god so cool and get this as my sister and I were driving to work we saw a guy(or a woman) dressed in a ape costume! believe me I had seen everything I dressed as Madonna one year and the next I dressed as a football player wore my 49er football jersery and put black underneath my eyes it was cool LOL and a few years ago at another job I used to have I worked at a Community Center five minutes from my house and I dressed up as Professor McGonagal for halloween oh and one year I dressed up as a Gothic Queen LOL and my friend dressed up as a man she got one of her husbands old suites and and a hat that she got from Goodwill and some old shoes oh it was so cute! she even did the scruff look it was so funny

I know me too!! I am just imagining how many times I will see it in the next few weeks that it is at this theater for cheap!! I am going to be sad when they end it. I love seeing these movies on the big screen!!

well those ppl were stupid to think that Eclipse would not do well of course it did well half billion I would think it did amazing and nope it is not over yet BRING IT ON woo hoo life is good right now! SO many movies coming out of your cast Ashely has Apparation, Butter, Skateland, BD pt 1 and BD part 2 and LOL movie seriously that is the title and Kellen has a couple of movies coming out and Kristen has WTTR and OTR and Taylor has Abduction and Stretch Armstrong and our Rob has WFE. Bel Ami and Unbound Captives and many many more where that came from!

HOLY CROW, october 28th?? I swear that I had a dream where I went to a release party on the 28th, and I didn’t even know that’s when it is expected to be on dvd, freaky isn’t it, I had that dream a while ago, I even said something in an earlier comment.
There BETTER be Rob/Kristen/Tay for the commentary, I will join the riot if it doesn’t have them! I loved twilight’s commentary sooo much. I loved all the quotes from it you put. “Garden burger just sounds like something you dug up from the garden” lol and at the end “I hope you guys thought this was totally awesome!” XD I wish one of the deleted scenes would be Alice and Edward playing chess ( though that’s not happening lol.)

LOL Those are great costumes! I did the hockey player years ago with the Rangers jersey and black teeth and eyes. I have pretty much done creepy the last few years because noone else really does that and I have a better chance at winning. LOL I’ve done the receptionist from Beetjuice, creepy vampire little girl carrying a doll with a bloody scalp and no hair, Tippi Hedron from The Birds and last year I did the whole sexy space alien/warrior. It’s almost time again. I need to figure out another creepy costume. I was thinking Snow White being attacked by all of her fuzzy creatures! LOL

Awww.. *high five back* It’s so rare a movie can compare to the book. The closest for me has been the HP saga. With twilight, I don’t blame them for trying to lure in other viewers besides the fans of the books. It’s what they do. There really is not the action that HP or many other movies have, so they slick it up. I am just happy our characters have come to life.
