Eclipse Brings In $24.2 Million On Thursday!

Eclipse eclipseposter 280x408 Eclipse Brings In $24.2 Million On Thursday! eclipse news eclipse According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took in $24.2 million on it’s second day of release on Thursday bringing the total for the two days to $92.8 million!

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” continued to seduce plenty of moviegoers Thursday as it took in an estimated $24.2 million, but it isn’t exerting quite as strong a gravitational pull as its predecessor “New Moon,” which took in $42.3 million on its second day of release in November.

At the crowded multiplex, Thursday also saw the debut of Paramount’s mythic fantasy “The Last Airbender” in 3,169 locations, including 1,606 3D playdates. The PG-rated tale directed by M. Night Shyamalan took in $16.4 million, including the $3 million it scored at midnight screenings as it aims for number two status in the weekend listings.

Summit’s vampire- and werewolf-filled romance has collected about $92.8 million during its first two days of release in 4,416 theaters in North America, which compares to “Moon’s” first two-day gross of nearly $115 million.

But the two films are following slightly different release patterns. “Moon” opened on a Friday and pulled in $142.8 million over its first, three-day weekend.

“Eclipse” dawned with 12 a.m. screenings on Wednesday, establishing a new Wednesday opening boxoffice record of $68.5 million, including its monster $30 million midnight screenings. By the end of this holiday weekend, “Eclipse” is expected to have collected more than $150 million in its first six days.

Additionally, Summit reported that the movie attracted an estimated $16.2 million on its first day of release Wednesday in 21 foreign markets, including Italy, Brazil and Russia.

I’m a little surprised it didn’t do better than New Moon on the second day, even if it was a Thursday. Nonetheless, this is still wonderful news! I’m sure it will hit $150 million at the end of the weekend!

I freaken LOVED Eclipse!! The action was so great and Riley was to die for… YUM! All of the Cullen's really shined! Jackson was great and I loved that he had more lines! I also thought that Nikki's acting was really great this time around. I swear, Rosalie shows Leah that there is only ONE bad a$$ b!tch in this series!!! Rosalie > Leah

i really missed jacob saying “clouds i can handle…but i can't fight with an eclipse” or sth like that…i mean it's the line after which the book got it's title right??? and yes….i was waiting for sth all the time…and that something never happened….but still…i loved eclipse…of course it could be better…but let's be realistic…it could have turned out much worse….i actually went to see it with no expectations at all….i didn't wont to come out depressed…..

i think its important to note that the second day for NM was a saturday… so its not surprising more people went. what is a little upsetting is that the first day didnt make as much.. but then again, its more likely for people to go to the movies on a friday than a wednesday.

oh no. see where as we all had a huge Twilight love due to the books causing us to support the movie The last airbender has a following due to the Anime : Avatar The Last Airbender which went for 3 years and a movie so they have existing visual stories to compare with where as Twi hards had our imagination. A cartoon has a far wider range of visual treats than a movie due to the ease of effects. so they had a harder job creating an equal playing feild

OMG Just got home from the midnight showing in the UK and i have to say it was amazing, I loved it all of it I'm only sad that its over and I have to wait over a year to get this excited again but never mind i`ll be having sweet dreams tonight:-)

Just saw it today….awesome! The opening totally did not feel like a twilight movie. It was VERY different, and I really liked it. Wondering…now that we've had some distance from it, does anyone else feel like they really like Twilight a whole lot more than when it first came out? I busted out my Twilight/NM DVD's before seeing Eclipse and I felt like I enjoyed it a lot more. And….I can't believe I'm saying this, but while I loved NM when it came out….I kind of find it boring now OK, not really boring….but didn't feel the need to watch it over again like I did Twilight….I dunno….just thinking aloud.

apparantly the lines for the movie tonight are amazingly crazy long awesome for them! i'm just glad i went to the 5pm show (again) today rather than the 7 or 9pm show hehe phew!

I have always felt that way. Twilight was flawed, but had this compelling feeling about it, while NM did practically nothing for me. Digging Eclipse though!!

Yeah I wondered why they wanted to release it on a wednesday instead of a friday. Is it because its cheaper that way or what? I'm sure if they had released it last friday, or any friday, then it would have taken the first day record from new moon. I still have hope though that this weekend will be massive because fans will have more time to go to the movies and see it. I plan on going for the second time either Sunday or Monday.

BDH didn't show enough anger or expression to pull off Victoria in Eclipse. I also couldn't get past how bad BDH's wig was. Everytime she was on the screen I tried not to pay attention to the fact that they not only changed the actress, but also the hair. Couldn't they have at least given her a wig that resembled Victoria's curly hair in the first two movies? Otherwise they shouldn't have let Rachelle go because she was perfect for the part!

True! While Twilight missed scenes and changed things a bit, it has a strong emotion that runs through it. It's what made me read the saga. However, I felt NM was a joke! It made me very sad because they did nothing with the budget they were given- from directing, make-up, hair, and writing. It seems like the whole thing was in CGI and just very flat!! Was I the only one thinking when they were in the meadow in NM that they looked like cardboard cutouts on the ground?? lol

Eclipse just felt like a REAL movie!!! I am so happy with Eclipse!! It makes me excited and SUPER optimistic for Breaking Dawn!!!

I am right there with you.. I thought for sure this movie was going to be INSANE. I am a background investigator and 25 and had a countdown up on my whiteboard at work since they released that date of Eclipse. I was at the New Moon midnight premiere and I just thought this would bring in sooooo many more people. This movie to me so far was truest to the book (beside the whole crazy Riley side stuff) I can't believe New Moon got more than this especially with the showing that Twilight had. I thought for sure Eclipse would spring board off of New Moon. Although New moon released on a Wednesday and New Moon was on a Friday so we shall see.

I think maybe the movie isn't making that much as New Moon(and eclipse was like, 10x better than new moon) because it's summer. Lots of people are on vacation and might not be able to watch it

I am a bit surprised that New Moon did better than Eclipse, especially since Eclipse is waaaaaaaay better than New Moon. New Moon was a big disappointment for me. But I am sure Eclipse will make $150 million by the end of the week if not more!
and now I know it's a bit off topic but i just came back home 16 hours ago after watching Eclipse for the 1st time and I am just speechless! it was just the best and the greatest movie in the saga so far. Bill Condon will have to work VERY VERY hard in order to top David's work.
just watching every second of the movie gave me the most amazing feeling. especially while watching the proposal scene- it was the scene I was the most excited for and it really did top all of my expectations. I had to force myself not to cry. they all did a splendid job while bringing this book to life.
the tent scene was really great- the balance between the emotions and the comedy was excellent, in that scene in particular but i can say the same about the whole movie.
so I can't believe I am going to say that right now but I really think that MR did a good job adapting the book into a script because I was only disappointed in a few scenes.
some changes in the movie I can forgive (like-SPOILER- where was the Edward/Seth fist/nose bump? i really wanted to see it on screen) but some I think didn't match the book at all and also offended the characters a little bit (for example- SPOILER- the whole school parking lot scene with B/E/J, Bella would never have done this in the books).
all i can say right now is that I am really(!!!) happy that I stayed spoiler free for eclipse because every second of anticipation was totally worth it!!
I can't wait to see it again!! when does the DVD come out??????

I loved Eclipse so bad. I've never been so drawn and obsessed with this movie than I am with the other two. Going to watch Eclipse again on Monday for the fourth time!!! I HAVE NOT HAD ENOUGH. (Lol, that was a quote from BD) The 2nd time I watched it I got irritated at my buddy who keeps asking questions throughout the whole film!!! I was like, just read the freaking book already!

OK i just got back from seeing eclipse… AMAZING!
I'm not sure if this is right place to share my view but tbh, i dont really care i need to express my joy! lmao
DONT READ THIS IF YOU HAVNT SEEN IT!!! MAJOR SPOILERSSS
I thought it was really good, like reallllly good! Here are the things i especially loved:

1. THE MEADOW – it looked so real, i loved how it started and ended with the meadow too – nice touch
2. Bella and her mom – aw i was so touching, i loved the blanket present!
3. Riley – tbh gotta love everything about riley, i liked how he was wet on numerous occasions lmao and i loved the whole back story of being missing for a year – very clever. I liked how he was more involved than in the book – great actor!
4. Edward. I loved everything about edward, he was more of twilight edward in this and looked… well just BEA-utiful.
5. The wolves – i loved the little jokes between the wolves near the start, and the actual wolves looked so much better than in new moon
6. ENGAGEMENT – my favourite scene. Perfect
7. E&B Steamy action – Leg hitch galore, and bella getting through those buttons – yeah baby!
8. Tension between Jacob & Edward – it was brilliant
9. Tent Scene – soo good, i loved the expression on edwards face and jacobs little comments “Im hotter than you are” lmao!
10. The Emotion – the acting was brilliant, edwards face said it all on some occassions, like after bella and jacob kissed, i felt his pain LOL
11. CHARLIE – the sex chat, the resentment towards Edward and his proudness at the graduation, loved it all
12. Jasper – his little comments were witty during the training loved it.
13. THE BUILD UP – i liked how the whole film built up towards the big fight and i was just on edge waiting for it!
14. Edward kicking some ass – gotta love him beating the **** out of Victoria, pushing the tree was just ermm, wow
15. Jacobs comments – throughout the whole film, brilliant!
16. After Jacob and Bellas first kiss – Edwards anger was just so hot.
17. The back stories – i surprisingly enjoyed them especially Rosalies.
18. Edward & Bellas chemistry – it was all about them tbh, there were some hot kisses!
19. The third wife – i hate this part in the book, but i actually liked it in the movie, it was necessary to understand why Bella decided to take a sacrifice
20. The litte details – i liked how the cullens eyes were black to show they were hungry, i thought the little details made the whole so much better!

Gotta say i will be deffo paying another visit to the cinema very soon.

i think it is because even with low budget and changes in the story CH was a fan of twilight (remmenber her book in the director's note book) she understood and feel twilight the way we do and make us feel that CW and DS may have read the books but it was work for them they didn't fall in love the way we did so that's what i tink they make you feel the way they did with the story
