We’ve got another Chris Weitz on our hands! In a recent interview with E!Online – Eclipse jerk face human Jack Huston (aka Royce King II, Rosalie’s former fiancee) stated that he wouldn’t have a part in Eclipse if it wasn’t for Eclipse director David Slade writing his part in -
There’s a chance we may never have met Royce and the small but meaty part may not have even existed were it not for David Slade taking a meeting with Huston.
“I went in to the director and he very sweetly wrote this part up for me,” the actor admits. “It was kind of a nice compliment from him.”
Confidence totally building right now with Mr.Slade! Glad to know that he is thinking of the fans, and what we want! Remember – there were certain scenes not originally in New Moon that Chris Weitz added in (Bella getting stitched up by Carlisle, and the Theatre date – Bella, Jacob, and Mike). And now David Slade is doing the same thing. Awesome!

learn how to incorporate important back stories that are central not only to the storyline, but to the characters' past. (i.e. we need to understand why Rosalie is the way she is to Bella)
GOSH, have you not yet learned anything from the criticisms of Twilight?
I don't know that I would necessarily say the part was written for him. I think Jack's misstating. Royce is a character in the book, and I can't imagine Melissa leaving Rosalie's story out. It's possible the part was expanded, as I don't think that scene with Rosalie and Vera in the park is mentioned in the book when Rosalie is telling the story. I think Slade asked Melissa to expand the part, but don't think it was missing completely.
Royce is mighty hot……..wow.
Is is just me or has the screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg almost kept out some key parts to the storyline for all of the movies. I am so thankful to Chris Weitz and David Slade for adding these scenes into the movie. I believe that some of the scenes that the they have added back in are pivotal for the whole feel of the story.
I hope who ever Directs “Breaking Dawn” also fights to stay true to the story. I hate to even think of what Melissa will keep out.

Because you know, she didn't leave the Volturi, Alice's story, Jasper's power, or the Blood Testing out or anything. She really does not look into the details that much. I wouldn't be surprised to not find Jazz's story in Eclipse.
We already know DS shot Jaspers story, that was one of the first shoots they did.

Honestly, I don't think Slade did that for the fans. Ashley Greene had said that she foresees a fight coming on between the director and Summit because Slade's views are pretty gruesome. I think he wanted that part put in the movie purely for himself.

Uhhh…ok…let's all calm down. I'm not saying Jack is lying. I'm saying that I think the way it was written reads like he's saying the character was created for him. We know it was not, as it's a character that exists in the story. And it's possible that the scenes with Royce were just going to be non-spoken flashback scenes with Rosalie doing a voice over. It's possible the story wasn't going to be there at all. Since it is back story on Rosalie and a bonding point between her and Bella, I would hope Stephenie would object to it being left out.
Did Melissa leave some things out. Yes. Did Catherine leave out some things Melissa wrote. Yes. Regardless, all I was saying was that his comment reads like the character was created for him. That's all.
Thank goodness Summit has hired directors who don't think they are here to rewrite or completely leave out important part of SM's books!! If it was up to a certain somebody, someone with MR as her initials, what seemed like trivial to her, but in reality is important to fans would never be in the script! Thank you CW and DS! Anyways, YES, epic repeated fail on Melissa's part BUT in her defense (and in my opinion), some parts have to go to make the movies work (not saying Rosalie's story is one of them because I feel her story needs to be in there). Alice's background is not so in-depth that it needed to be in Twilight and the blood testing scene was fun but not necessary to make the story move forward.

I think she is a decent writer, because I have seen Dexter. Its just I think she could only fit as much as she could. Although I do agree that one of the most important things about the Twilight Saga is explain why the Cullen family became the way they are. She is getting advice a lot more from Stephenie than she did for Twilight.
It is important because it not only explains how she became a vampire, but why she is so against Bella becoming a vamp herself. I had some qualms against Slade in the beginning because in a way he is like Catherine Hardwicke in that he doesn't have a lot of experience doing movies. Believe it or not he used to do music videos. He did videos for System of a Down. I respect him so much more not only for keeping this scene in, but for him informing the fans of what's happening on set and sending us twitpics.
Rosenberg is now getting advice and tips from Meyer, and Meyer has been on set for all the films most pivotal scenes. You know that Stephenie wouldn't let her baby go down with the ship.

both CH and MR left out the big part about Alice being Jame's original intended Victim! and how Alice didn't remember anything about being human.
Lets not forget that if it wasn't for this bonding scene, Bella wouldn't know to run to Rosalie when she finds out she's preggers.
And I agree that some parts did have to go in Twilight, But I felt that it was all rushed. It didn't fell fight. I feel that the three major scenes they should have not touched, tweaked or left out of the movie were the part where JACOB tells Bella that the Cullens are Vampires, the Drive back to Forks, cause come on, its was one of, if not the best part of the book, and the Infamous MEADOW scene. I was so upset about that. That is Just MY opinion. They didn't even work it up to the Climactic KISS. Was it just me or did no one feel the connection?
Yep cause it made it seem like he just killed to kill. They didn't specify that James had a history with Alice and that he was getting revenge. I know that all in all he was killing to kill, but still *Blushes* I like the background story.

the movie was alright, but not one of the better movies, it is suceeding because of the fame of the book and catherine is using that unfairly, she is not being recognised because her movie was good, its cause the movie was an adaption of a fantastic book.
i am amazed that the 1st movie had catherine hardwicke as the dircector. compared to chris and david she was terrible!! as long as either david or chris come back for breaking dawn i'm perfectly fine. if catherine comes back i may just boycott the film. but seroiusly, how did catherine mess up such a great book??all she had to do was talk to the fans, we would have told her exactly what she was doing wrong!!

Thank u David Slade for making sure that Eclipse stays true to the book! How could MR be that STUPID to not have ROYCE in the script??? HELLO!!! THat is a VERY important part of Eclipse and why Rosalie is who she is!!!
So I guess us Twilight fans are lucky that we get directors for the second two movies that actually respect the story of Twilight. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND Melissa for not putting in the part of Rosalie's fiance. IT MAKES NO SENSE! Rosalie and Bella's rocky relationship is a huge part of the Twilight story, especially if they want to make Breaking Dawn into a movie. But yes, Melissa, just completely cut out Rosalie's back story. Who cares about that back story, it doesn't add anything to the story. WAKE UP! It is an integral part of the story.
I can't help thinking that without Chris and David, a lot of the best scenes in the book would be cut out.

i felt the same, it was too rushed. i wasn't just u, i didn't fell the connection in any relation, like no bella/edward, not even edward been jealous of mike(i found that funny in midnight sun). the kiss was so not romantic, it wasn't like the build up that kiss. and no “i love you” that just made it even less believable. and don't start me with the meadow, which was my fav scene in the whole book and my worse scene in the movie.
of course are the little thing that build the story, that's why i don't agree with the “twilight suck b/c of the budget”,that was so not the reason

So whenever Edward was mentioned, I automatically imagined Robert Pattinson as Edward, Taylor as Jake, Kristen as Bella, etc. SO whenever a new character was introduced I went with what I was given in the books and I imagined Royce as a blonde haired, blue eyed pretty boy…which is odd considering that the guy who plays Emmett is EXACTLY as I described and he plays Rosalie's vamp husband. Never thought about that lol anyway, yeah. Anyway, I read Twilight AFTER Breaking Dawn and Rob wasn't too far off from Edward…I mean, it must be hard to find the most beautiful man in the world lol Rob has the angular features and had the tossled that was in chaotic control. The guy who's playing Royce doesn't give off that pompous, arrogant, conceited, “pretty boy” look I saw when I invisioned Royce from the books. All I was saying is that maaaaaaaybe they could've found an actor who could've acted AND fit the part of Royce. I didn't say I hated the guy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it lol

ok i continued, i didn't like rob as edward at first, not hot enough for me, now things changes. but here is the thing, give him a chance, imagined what would had happen if you instead of watching the movie and then reading the book, you did the same as me, book first, movie later. believe me i didn't like most of the cast when i found out about then, now i can't imagine another different cast, you just have to get used to the idea, bright side, he just has a few lines, not a big deal

I used to read the comments a lot more but lately there are too many to read so I haven't made the time. Miss way back when this site was getting 40 to 70 comments per post.
Wow, ever since I have been here, about 4 or 5 months ago, there have always been 130-400 a post.

Holy Crap! Thank Gos for Chris & David!!! Melissa, if left writing on her own, would have produced another shity scriot just just the twilight movie. She left out so many small details but these details and character interactions make twilight a smashing hit. Why can't Stephanie just write the damn movie script!!!!! Seriously people. Imagine her writing the breaking dawn movie script aand Chris Weitz directing!!! That would be a gift from the gods!!!!
