Several designers were asked by Instyle to sketch a wedding dress for Bella Swan to wear during the pivotal scene in the Twilight Saga.

Thanks. I am a graphic designer and its are job to work within boundaries. We have to make the best of the limitations.. as it were.

I think designers get too full of themselves.. they cast aside the context and design what they would WANT.

That's part of good design.. What WORKS is not always what the client (or designer) WANTS….

Spot on! I REALLY REALLY hope that the costume designers do their homework and read the book!!! I hope Stephenie puts her foot down on this one and insists on book integrity!!!

the dress that is described in the book isn't for kristen's body type and on screen it would have looked horriable…
the blue dress was beautiful…and everyone that i talked to loved it.

Really I thought the closest of all of them was Max Azrias dress.. He focused on the vintage and lace like the book does. It even has the high neck and the shoulders like she dreams of…
Personally, I kept invisioning my best friends gown at her wedding. It was described just like the one in the book. OLD VINTAGE HIGH NECK, like anne of green gables lol

Honestly the dress is suppose to be old fashioned, so if you haven’t seen the other dresses, then you should. Personally, I prefer the one from Monique Lhuillier or from Erin Fetherston. They seem to fit the description in the book.

Okay, seriously, the Lela Rose wedding gown, is what I always picture when I read the book….. off white, lace, fitted but still loose at the bottom… gorgeous!!

Yes, Lela Rose was the best with Christian Siriano following very close behind. Lela Rose was just more of what I pictured and she seemed to have read the book if not the least read the wedding discription. I pictured it with the lace neck and sleeveless. Hers was the only one that made me go *ahh. that seems parfect*
Siriano's is stunning too and more modern while Rose's is elegant and more vintage and classy and not to show-offy.
I hope something similar to both of the designs appears in the movie.

The one by Monique Lhuillier is perfect!!!!! It’s exactly how I saw Bella’s Wedding Dress when I pictured what it might look like!!! Also the one by Lela Rose would work very, very well. Both of those Designers’ dresses look like they would have actually been worn around the early 1900′s. To me the Erin Fetherston’s looks a tad too childish. Max Azria’s is ok-ish and Badgley Mischka’s looks almost painful! Then the rest are just too impractical or modern, or just plain wrong (in my opinion). I can’t wait to see what they come up with for Bella’s gown!

cool….is there any way younger designers would be able to maybe enter their designs in order for it to be used in the movie? I want to be a fashion designer and it would be a great experience to design the dress that Kristen would wear at the wedding in the film! Please comment back!

I think Lela’s would be amazing! The others were so horridly off. Lela’s was the only one i thought would work beautifully for Bella’s dress, and she stayed pretty close to the book.
