Gossip Cop Busts ‘Eclipse’ Reshoot Rumors!

As previously reported — Lainey Gossip blogged that there will be reshoots in Vancouver soon for Eclipse. She stated that they are redoing the meadow scene, fight scenes, and other key scenes. She also said that her sources told her there have been creative differences with David Slade and Summit Entertainment.

While she had the reshoot part correct, Gossip Cop has shot down most of Lainey’s statements -

A report widely disseminated earlier today made big waves by claiming that “key scenes” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse need to be reshot in Vancouver, and speculated that the development indicated production on the June release was troubled.

Gossip Cop looked into it, and we have the exclusive answers.

First, regarding the implication that these reshoots were unexpected, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “The reshoot was planned for months, like it is with the majority of films.”

Let Gossip Cop settle some other false rumors.

Contrary to today’s inaccurate speculation, “creative differences” have not led Summit to consider bringing in another director for the reshoots.

David Slade is 100% directing them, like he did the entire movie, and the studio is “very happy” with his direction of the film, which internally is believed to be the best of the series.

As for the timing, speculation that there will be three rushed days of 18-hour shoots is incorrect. The Summit rep tells Gossip Cop that it’s a two-and-a-half to three-day shoot, and that “very little” actually has to be reshot.

But the biggest misconception concerned the specific scenes alleged to be those in need of a reshoot. The rep confirms to Gossip Cop, “None of the meadow or action scenes are being reshot.”

Asked to comment on today’s alarmist rumors, the authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “Reports much like the one earlier today are ploys to drive traffic without any merit and without any support from the studio on what is actually going on or true.”

Gossip Cop will continue to bring accurate “Eclipse” production news before the film’s June theatrical release.

H2B, chin up. The material they're working with is great. The cast is great. All the incentive is for Summit to make a good movie and make more $$$. I watched NM again last night and even though I wasn't crazy about it, it was still good. Eclipse has lots more Edward (Rob) so it is bound to be better. Who knows, maybe all these changes will make it better! Anyway we'll always have the books. I know you know all this and were posting on this site when I had never heard of Edward Cullen, but I heard despair and had to chime in. Low expectations — good. Despair — bad. Although I have to say all the ?s surrounding these flicks is why I'm almost a bigger Rob fan than Twilight fan these days (almost).

I actually completely agree. New Moon was more true to the book, but it DID
feel completely rushed because they tried to fit so much into such a small
amount of time. So they need to either make the movies LONGER (which I
honestly think they should), or they need to keep MR from writing such
cheesy dialogue into it and making it so crap-tastic, lol. These movies can
be absolutley breathtakingly beautiful and amazing, if they would get a
different writer, make them longer, and really take the time to care enough
about them

ok re-shoots are not uncommon! We need to chil-lax! As long as Eclipse is made as perfect as they(summit) can before june 30th i don't care! If…IF…Eclipse is delayed then i'm going hunting…LOL

I will watch and read all posts with a pinch of salt.

GRRRR That is my pet peeve, that, and pulling out in front of me when no one is behind me.. I could squeeze my steering wheel into pieces when someone does that. Risk lives because they can't wait til you go past them. *rolls eyes* Go figure! I know, it's awful.

I don't know why some people here hate Catherine, but on other fan sites people really liked her. Guess it depends on the site. I know Chris stuck with the book a little more in NM, but totally lost the essence of the books and it felt more like he was working from a checklist. I didn't like the running thru the woods at all either, but I could have overlooked it if he had gotten the after-Italy part right. The whole ending was a rushed/chopped-up mess.

You know, this really worried me, because being in Vancouver, “Lamey” is right about Twilight shooting stuff almos ALL the time…

Thank God she was wrong this time! HAH!! Take that “Lamey”! You need to stop spreading rumors about Eclipse and also quit makin' snarky comments about Rob and Taylor! They are both gorgeous, and some of the guys you think are so gorgeous just don't compare. I am so glad you're wrong! So there!

haha no I am not teasing. I really do enjoy acting. Though it actually becoming my future career is very far off. I just like doing it because I enjoy it. I might try and find an acting class to do this summer but I don't know. I can't really do any big productions since I go to school in a different place then my hometown, but I would love to keep doing it. Even if I don't get anywhere with it.

honestly I just randomly went to an audition on campus because I had seen the play before and I liked it, so I thought “why the heck not”, not thinking I would get an actual part. I ended up being the one who did the spotlight piece that closed the show. I had never acted before in my life, not even in HS, I was terrified of preforming and I am quite shy. But acting is like being another person so I lose my shyness lol.
