Gossip Cop Busts ‘Eclipse’ Reshoot Rumors!

As previously reported — Lainey Gossip blogged that there will be reshoots in Vancouver soon for Eclipse. She stated that they are redoing the meadow scene, fight scenes, and other key scenes. She also said that her sources told her there have been creative differences with David Slade and Summit Entertainment.

While she had the reshoot part correct, Gossip Cop has shot down most of Lainey’s statements -

A report widely disseminated earlier today made big waves by claiming that “key scenes” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse need to be reshot in Vancouver, and speculated that the development indicated production on the June release was troubled.

Gossip Cop looked into it, and we have the exclusive answers.

First, regarding the implication that these reshoots were unexpected, an authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “The reshoot was planned for months, like it is with the majority of films.”

Let Gossip Cop settle some other false rumors.

Contrary to today’s inaccurate speculation, “creative differences” have not led Summit to consider bringing in another director for the reshoots.

David Slade is 100% directing them, like he did the entire movie, and the studio is “very happy” with his direction of the film, which internally is believed to be the best of the series.

As for the timing, speculation that there will be three rushed days of 18-hour shoots is incorrect. The Summit rep tells Gossip Cop that it’s a two-and-a-half to three-day shoot, and that “very little” actually has to be reshot.

But the biggest misconception concerned the specific scenes alleged to be those in need of a reshoot. The rep confirms to Gossip Cop, “None of the meadow or action scenes are being reshot.”

Asked to comment on today’s alarmist rumors, the authorized rep for the studio tells Gossip Cop, “Reports much like the one earlier today are ploys to drive traffic without any merit and without any support from the studio on what is actually going on or true.”

Gossip Cop will continue to bring accurate “Eclipse” production news before the film’s June theatrical release.

If they are doing reshotts, maybe now Bella can have her real hair since Kristen's bangs and hair have grown alot and they could do extensions. Because in that trailer, that one scene with Jake, her hair was all kinds of frizzy. But maybe just maybe they've heard what we want and have to have in this movie and are going back to satisfy us on what they've missed out on. I think they've heard our cries over the missed Edward/Bella reunion. Wouldn't that be a first?. I better hear Edward say, I love you. I want you right now or I will protest. And the tent scene needs to really be word for word with Edward explaining his love for Bella and Jake finally listening.

A mind reader? I don't understand this comment…please elaborate. I mean, we all read the book. The bedroom scene was epic in the book…it explained so much of how Edward felt towards Bella…and the Meteor speech was the culmination of that. Seems so random that they left it out of the movie.

I know right?! It is, it isn't . . . Hey I love Gossip Cop but I feel like they are nibbling around the edges here. She reported correctly there IS a reshoot (who else has been waiting for that?). Like Summit will confirm they have creative diffs with DS — how about they fired his editor? And which scenes they are reshooting — questionable whether to believe summit.

Who'll give me 3-1 odds on moving back the release date? (ducks)

I'm in the minority, as usual. But I would have loved it if CH directed some of the reshoots. I dont' want to be controversial on this site, but I have to speak my mind. New Moon was absolutely terrible, in my opinnion. I do not like the direction the twi films have taken. Although I must say, eclipse seems like it might be alright. We will see in June. But honestly, a while ago, i stopped posting on this board because I was sooo unhappy with New Moon. But as a loyal fan to the saga, i thought i'd take a break, read some really good fanfiction and come back and see how I would feel…. Well, i don't know… it's going to take a lot of convincing for me to go into eclipse objective. But I'm trying… I come on this site and I love all the posts and the excitement and I'm starting to feel like I used to… But I really loved the dark edge and indie feel of Twilight. The saga seems, dare I say, too mainstream, and not in a good way… Just had to get this off of my chest. Now I can try to be more upbeat. Oh, and I really liked CH's directing. She is good with making you feel the authenticity of the actors. Maybe not get at creating a 'big blockbuster' but really good at telling a story.

I think Lainey knows more than Summit's PR machine will ever admit to. I wouldn't discount her info. Of course Summit's going to downplay it and put their spin on it. I couldn't care less if they have to do reshoots. As long as they get it right. I want a good movie with great love scenes and emotions.

You know what scene in New Moon was like “all helll no” for me? The scene when Edward and Bell were all running through the woods… The theatre was laughing hysterically. I was ashamed to be a twi-fan that day. People were laughing at things that were clearly not supposed to be funny.

I agree with you to a certain point. I like CH raw edge she put into twilight. I actually kinda like the blue-ish tint in it, because that is one of the first things that caught my eye. However, the one HUGE thing I don't like about Twilight is the fact that Twilight COMPLETELY left a TON of things out. Which really hacks me off, which that isn't the directors fault completely… more so MR.

New Moon was decent, it wasn't horrible, BUT it could of been better… of course all of them could use a little room for improvement. Let's hope Eclipse blows them all outta the water, and that BD does the same *fingers crossed*!!!

I doubt they will. I think they are too invested in that. But my feeling was always if reshooting were announced that would make it a lot more likely. Bottom line for me is how the movie is. If it will make it better to reshoot or even give them more time, it is worth it! I'm anxious to see it but the final product will be with us a long time.

My fingers are crossed really tight. I like how you pointed out the missing things from twilight and how it was more MR to blame for this than CH. That was my whole point everyone was hating CH. In terms of her directing, she was pretty good. But maybe she could have fought for the movie to remain true to the book. You know some directors don't have affinities to book when they direct all the time. Some like to translate the point of the book without having to show the the book in details. Not sure if i agree with this, but it is something some directors like to do. But I hear you. See, Chris had EVERTHING in the book in the movie (at least it felt that way). I really felt like things were rushed because they were trying to fit the whole book into the movie. What do you think?
