Peter Facinelli aka Carlisle Cullen of The Twilight Saga, has done so many different things with his celebrity from pleasing thousands of screaming fans at autograph signings, to helping out various charity organizations. In this interview with PFach, he talks about his home-life, charities and when Twilight had just begun.

Peter Facinelli had never heard of the “Twilight” books when his agent asked him to audition for a vampire movie.

“I said no. I was thinking it was some B or C slasher, horror kind of picture,” said Facinelli, whose agent quickly sent him a copy of Stephenie Meyer’s popular first novel.

“I couldn’t put it down,” said Facinelli, who read it in one night. “It was kind of a throwback to the origins of what vampire folklore was, the sensuousness and the love story that it used to be.

And Facinelli has been along for the ride as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the kindly head of a family of “vegetarian” vampires–they feed only on animals, not humans–and the adoptive father of Edward, played by mega-star Rob Pattinson.

‘FAN BASE EXPLODED’

It’s hard to imagine now, but the crowds weren’t always there. While filming the first movie in Oregon, Facinelli said he and fellow actors Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson could grab dinner in local restaurants and no one batted an eye.

“We could’ve been doing a cookie commercial. Nobody cared we were doing this movie,” he said. “We felt a responsibility to make a good movie for the fans of the books. But somewhere between the wrapping of filming and the premiere, that fan base exploded.”

Even after that, the dark-haired Facinelli said he often wasn’t recognized in public. In real life, he’s a young-looking 36 with a healthy glow about him. It takes up to two hours in a makeup chair to transform the actor into Carlisle Cullen, a 350-year-old vampire with bleach-blond hair and pale, shimmery skin.

Of course nowadays, admirers have no problem picking the L.A. resident out of a crowd. He’s happy to sign autographs and pose for photos, though he’d rather not pretend he’s biting someone. For the most part, he said, fans are friendly and supportive.

Hi! I found this site along time ago (not so long ago) and fell in love with it. Though i'd never comment here, this is my second. I just kept reading all the comments here and cracked up on some of them. Big twilight fan. And of course team edward!!! Though team edward I loooooooooooove rob! I love everything about him. I also love the rest of the cast of course!

to tell you guys the truth i haven't been a twilight fan for a long time. I fell in love with the saga i gotta say like at the begining of this year. I know right. you must be thinking Has she been hiding under a rock or what? Well no, when i first fell in love with this i read eclipse first and from that i couldnt stop reading and to tell you that i hated reading but know i love it thanks to the saga. Seen eclipse 2 times. The movie was great!!!!! If it were my decisions i could go watch it more times, i mean i have the money to go see it. but the problem is my mom. I am mexican, i am the only one who speaks english and spanish and a little french. my mon knows that i like it but she clearly does not understand my obsession for it. so if i would tell her to take me to the movies she would be like “again”. she gives me money every now and then to supposely buy clothes for the next school year which here is starting august 24. everytime i buy something related to twilght shes all like ” you should be saving that money to buy clothes” though i have all four books the first two movies and one soundtrack(eclipse). i havent spent money lately on twilight stuff lately, i m buying clothes.

im just really excited to share all my twilight madness here because i have no one to share it with. *kisses and hugs to everyone*

And yeah , i Know abt mom's not understanding the twilight craze.lol .And hey, even I got into this amazing twilight world only last year.! Twilight released only last year here in India Ofcourse I saw the movie before, totally loved it and bought the books and I was hooked to it for life!

I wanted to share how I fell in love with em.org. I've been following these sites loooonng ago. I remember that I found the nm.org searching some pictures of Twilight (of course).

At that time, it was just nm.org ! I found it when the first trailer was released I think… Yes, I found it when the Twilight cast was at the mtv movie awards, when it was released the FIRST New Moon trailer.
There wasn't even em.org!! I've never thought that I could comment too. “Me? Writing in english all the time? Can I do that?” Then I knew there was Disqus and etc.
And I just started commenting………. 1 month ago. And thinking that I could have been part of this sooner… makes me kind of sad. Still, it's good that I finally “have a say” and I can talk to everybody about Twilight here!!!

You sound very sweet and mature for your age. Made me tear up a little. I'm sure you'll like it here. I got hooked last year when my 11 year old daughter begged me to read New Moon with her while we waited for Eclipse to arrive via UPS. I just started commenting a couple of months ago but have been visiting every day for over a year. You'll love it I'm sure.

peter does a great job playing him, but please peter don't do the weird accent in breaking dawn that you did in eclipse. and makeup department don't make carlisle look like ken.

in 2008 when I first saw the book Twilight it was after I read the HP series and I was well desperate LOL and I wanted something to read so I just looked around Target at the books and Twilight caught my eye and I picked it up and looked at what it was about and thought okay I'm desperate I'll read it then I see New Moon and then Eclipse and I bought all 3 books at once(before BD came out) that was how desperate I was and look what sheer desperation does! LOL it gave me Rob and THE most talented cast ever! whom I love alot!

I know how you feel about the “living under a rock late start at the twilight obsession” i've been obsessed about a year, but before that while my whole grade was freaking over the twilight movie, I didn't even know twilight was about vampires. I haven't been commented on here very long either, but once you get into commented it's addicting None of my family realizes my obsession either, I told my mom I think my twilight must be annoying her and she said ” It's not an addiction, it doesn't interfere with most things in your life like playing with your friends or going to a movie.” lol she is sooooo wrong especially the going to a movie thing. I love the strong connection between Edward, Carlisle and Alice. I want to see this bond in the Films as well. But you know sometimes they cant get this Epic Edward and Bellas bond right. So I read my books when I need my therapy.

Did I tell you I finally got the autographed pic of him that my brother-in-law asked him for? My brother-n-law is principal of the school Peter went to in Queens growing up. My sister was supposed to have mailed it to me after Christmas….I was ready to slap her silly. I'll have to take a pic of it and put it up on fb. I need a frame for that!

well my mother does only speak spanish. believe me i've tried to get to read the twilight books cuz there also available in spanish but shes like “nah, i'll probably just go to sleep” she says it in spanish of course but i translate. i've told her many times that the books are really intersting but still she just doesn't. oh well. whatevz.got tired of telling her.

He's gonna be at the mall I was randomly visiting on my long drive home .. (4 hours away.. boooo) Spotsylvania Mall Fredericksburg, VA Saturday Aug 7th.. had to curse myself out for being their on Wednesday instead of Saturday.. BUT..
