During the interview they discuss how Jack got the role as Royce, even though that was not the original part he auditioned for -

IESB: How did you get involved with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse? What is it like to become a part of that whole phenomenon?

Jack: I literally just got back last Saturday, from filming my last little bits on it. I went in for David Slade, who’s the director, for another part that was written as a 19-year-old freshman who’s blonde-haired and blue-eyed, which I knew I wasn’t. That couldn’t be less like me. But, I went in and took a very different spin on how the character was written, and went a little nuts in the room, and David and I really got along, so he said, “I wanna get you in this movie somewhere.” So, he called me up a couple weeks later and said, “There’s this other part. Would you like to do it?,” and he offered me that.

IESB: So, who are you playing in the film and how does he fit into the story?

Jack: I play this guy called Royce King, who is the fiancé of Rosalie (Nikki Reed), before Rosalie was a vampire. It’s her backstory. It’s in 1933, during the Great Depression, and he’s a wealthy son of a banker. He’s a blue blood who takes a shine to her, but she’s not as nice as she seems and he has his comeuppance.

IESB: When you play darker characters, do you like to keep the mood light on set, in between takes, to off-set that, or do you prefer to stay in character?

Jack: It depends on what the scene is, actually. If it’s a really dark scene, then one tends to go to a bit of a darker place. But, even if you’re playing a dark person, I don’t think you can be dark, all the time. It depends on where you are. If you’re in the middle of doing a scene and you’re in between takes, sometimes you need to keep a bit of a distance, just so that your head space is fresh and not diluted by anything else. Normally, in between scenes, I’m fine.

IESB: When you work on something like that and you see how crazy it’s become for the cast, does that make you hope you never have to deal with that, or is it just part of the job that you have to deal with?

Jack: There’s two sides to that. When these kids first signed on, they probably didn’t expect that, at all. They were doing what they thought was a little movie, and it turned into this huge franchise. The buzz behind it made it one of the biggest franchises ever. I think they were all very surprised by it, but they can all now go off and do any movie they ever wanted, and demand massive paychecks.

The flipside is that, for now, it must be very difficult walking down the street with everyone looking at you and paparazzi follow you. That’s not easy for anyone to deal with. It can’t be easy, and I wouldn’t expect it to be easy, but I guess that’s sometimes the price of fame. With this, no one expected it and it just all came so quickly and suddenly that it must be quite a shock, so I guess I’m sympathetic.

I don’t think I would personally love the idea of being followed, everywhere I go. I don’t want that type of fame. That’s not something I’m looking for. I just want to do some fun, cool work and get really good roles.

yeah. that time was soo lovely, spending my time talking to u like everywhere. twitter, DMs in twitter, and here in DQ. hehehe. u know if ur my fb friend too, im pretty sure we'll be having some fun exchanges over there too. marce, punch and carter are my fb friends and we've had some fb exchanges too. like when punchy commented on one of my photos and man! it's like DQ only shorter. not really twitter bcoz it has limited space. hehehe. and that was so much fun! told her i'd find a photo in one of her albums to comment on just so we could start another exchange there. i have yet to do that though. plenty of time. hehehe ^_^

ok, funny story. when i said goodbye to u last time we talked, my cousin told me something like, “so our grandma is looking for u. she said to me if she's the real reason u went here” and deep inside i was like “dang! she noticed that?” but then she told me it was a joked and i was like “phew! that was close!” but i still find it funny, bcoz it is true. i REALLY didnt go there just to visit my grandma. and that early too. hehehe. so i just made up some story that i didnt want leave in the afternoon bcoz of the traffic and stuff. hehehe.

and another one, when i logged on again earlier (last night, ur time) in twitter just to check the DM's and all, my nephew came up to me and said, “are u gonna take longer like u did yesterday?” and seriously, i burst out laughing at that! i was like “huh. even the little one noticed too huh?” hehehehe. ^_^

Quick response then I'll read and reply to what you just sent. I probably
won't be able to connect to Twitter until later, if even then. According to
its status, there are “widely scattered network locations” unable to
connect. Guess what?! I'm one of the lucky ones in those locations! Such
luch, huh? ;o)

So, who knows…there might be others having the same problem and that's why
it's a little quiet today. I think Punch is able to connect because I asked
her about it on a DQ response and it sounded like she wasn't having any
trouble at all. I told her for you two to take it easy on me since I can't

Okay..here's the deal. I am not being conceited, I am not fishing for “compliments,”–I just honestly don't get the whole “star” thing…HONESTLY! Is it because I'm talking to others more, or what? Pfft..if that's what it is, then EVERYONE is a star around here!!

LOL–it was pretty funny how we were back and forth and all over the place, and really not talking to a lot of people, just trying to keep tabs on every single response that we had coming in from someone else. I'm so glad we were able to be on at the same time then and that both of our connections were working well. You mention about your connection being slow, but really it doesn't seem like it on this end.

You are one sly little thing…trying to use reverse psychology on me to try and get me on FB. Here are RFM's thoughts, “Well..if I tell her who all is on FB, if I tell her how much fun we have, if I tell her about all the fun photos we can comment on and how it's actually better than Twitter in some ways, then that will be enough to plant the seed and then she'll start to think more about it and do it.” HA!!! Thank goodness your cousin said she was kidding or you may have really beat yourself up over that, huh? You were quick on your feet to cover for a reason. LOL. Did you have a good time there…nice to be around lots of family again? It was probably good to visit but nothing like getting back home. I love going to visit my grandma, about a 5 1/2 hr. drive by car, and stay for a few days, but there's nothing like just getting back home. How is your back doing? I'm sure, once again, being in that bus for so long didn't help.

yeah. i had fun there. seeing them again and all. but the fun part happened when we're about to leave. we're just having fun with my nephew and all. lovely kid. should remind myself to give her something next time bcoz i always forget that part when i visit them. hehehe. but man! i was soo tired! after our dinner, im just trying to listen to music and all but my eyes we're like all droopy and it was like around 7pm at that time. weird for me to feel that way. then i lie down and eventually fell asleep. i had like 2 hours of nap i guess bcoz when i woke up, the grown ups are like talking and all. sadly my back was tortured once again. i slept beside my grandma and just when i thought i'd have a good sleep, i didnt. my grandma was like having dreams during the entire night, and well along with that dreams was some hand action. totally slapping me and stuff. so instead of resting my back in a straight form, i had to like sleep on one side. and she did that like twice an hour so i was awaken like every freaking hour. even saw the the light coming our from the window. what i did, i curled up in the lower part of the bed which didnt really helped with the back situation bcoz i had to lie down on my back. so yeah. eventually she got up and i was still trying to get my sleep back. got it eventually but they we're all awake by then. i heard from my grandma though that she had a good and long sleep which is unusual for her bcoz she usually wakes up around 6am or something, so that made the torture worth it, i guess. at least one us got a good sleep right? i didnt even get to sleep on the bus again. so yeah. i feel oh so tired when we got here. *sigh*

You're right. You did go there, and that was the point of the whole thing..to spend time with family, which you did. You just happened to go earlier than some. *wink* Oh well. Didn't you say she was napping anyway and wouldn't think a thing about it? You spent yesterday with all of them and didn't get on, so that's good. Goes to show that you are able to spend time away from here..and still live to tell about it. LOL

Wow…when I was reading about your eventful night's sleep, I felt so bad for you! How horrible! Thing is too, you know you'd never say anything because you wouldn't want to make her feel bad, but it is something that later you two would be able to laugh at and have a humorous bonding moment over. Those times are always rough. I'm that way with my grandma, or I call her “Mamaw.” She does things sometimes that I know I would call my friends out on, making a joke about it, but because I wouldn't want to make her feel bad then I don't say anything at all. I usually just tell my parents, cousin, or aunts…they always enjoy a funny story.

It's too bad that your back had to suffer even more from that night. *sigh* I wish there was something I could do. Do you take any type of pain medication or anti-inflammatory for it at all? I do hope that you're able to get to a doctor soon and get it looked at that way you can start to experience some relief with it.

well she was taking her nap, but after being on here for hours, i guess she woke up and i didnt know. i was in my aunt's house so i didnt know what was happening over at my grandma's house. though im pretty sure the grown ups were talking including my grandma bcoz they're not in their house with me. hehehe. oh well.. i'll just redeem myself next week. ^_^

oh yeah. horrible indeed. not a proper sleep there though i was greatful that i took a nap earlier. i guess thats just my payback for that though. too bad. hehehe. well i did tell about it when i woke up. she just laughed at it which im glad she did. told that to her as a joke. hehehe. yeah. i wouldnt want her to feel about that since she had a good sleep and all. dont want to ruin it for her. ^_^ awww.. really? but do u get along with her well?

So your aunt and grandma live pretty close to each other? That's good, that way she has someone close to her since you and your family are further away and aren't able to visit as much as you probably wish you could do.

I'm glad you were able to tell her about that and that she got a chuckle out of it. It's a tough call sometimes, not wanting to hurt their feelings by making them feel bad and all. We treat them like they're so fragile and don't want to do anything to upset them, don't we. I get along WONDERFULLY well with my Mamaw. I just hate that we live so far apart from each other. The last time I saw her was when she was up here for a memorial service for my uncle that passed away. My cousin and I actually had plans this weekend to go down and visit her since I was off on Friday, but things got messed up on her end and it didn't work out. We'll have to go soon, though. She is 84 but you would never know by the looks of her or by how much she loves to get out and run around. She knows her limits, but she definitely likes to get out and about.

Thing is RFM, there's going to come that day where you CAN'T manage the pain, and what will you do then? Are there any exercises or something that you can do to help relax the muscles, to give some relief to them? Yes…I am being mother hen here..so just deal with it! ;o) If it came down to doing therapy sessions with my mom or not being able to function properly….I'd choose the therapy. ;o) You know I won't let up on this, so get used to me bringing it back up every now and then until something is done about it. )

oh yes. pretty close indeed. it's like a whole compound of my relatives there. those who choose not to live in the city. well it's a bit industrialized, just not like where we live. ^_^

well thats bcoz my grandma and my other relatives are used to my sense of humor. actually even my none-humored statements, they find it funny. it's kinda ridiculous sometimes. hehehe.

aww.. im glad u have a great relationship with ur Mamaw. grandma's are such lovely arent they? it's like having a second mom. ^_^ good thing our grandma favors my sister and i a lot. not that she doesnt love my other cousins, it's just that we live with her before, especially during the summer where we spent our two months there when we were kids. my mother decided for that. she thought it was too hot during the summer here in the city so she wanted us to live there where it's not really that hot. we could play with our cousins and swim in the river and all. definitely had fun during my childhood years. hehehe. i hope u could visit ur grandma soon enough. thats too bad that ur cousin is having trouble finding a free time to do that with u. yeah. with her age right now, it would be nice if u could visit her often now. not that anything would happen to her *knocks wood* maybe in the holidays? that would be awesome right? ^_^

hehehe. yes mother. hehe. thanks for ur concern. i guess i could go to a massage parlor thingy and have my back massaged there. i've done that many times before when my back is hurting too much. it really does help with the pain. not for long though but it does helps so i guess i'd do that. i saw one near our hour and i told that to my mother and she said i have to do that so yeah, i will. maybe sometime this week. thing is, im very ticklish so that would be one interesting massage. again. *sigh* hehehehe. how's ur day? how everything with…? everything ok? did u get to talk to her long now? ^_^
