I agree. I wanted so much to love it, but I don't. It's like the designer couldn't decide what it should be, so it's a little bit of everything. Kristen has hit so many out of the park recently, it's disappointing that she missed on this one. I first logged on and thought hubba hubba, but then panned down to see the entire dress…whatever…she is still f*ckhawt, as always. I give her kudos for even attending this thing.
I was so excited and optimistic…and it is just disappointing. I commend her for taking a fashion risk- since it is the costume gala, but the hair is horrid, wet and greasy looking. And her make-up artist should have done a little bit darker lip. Her stylist should have had her practice how to stand in that dress, since it is cut up to her yoo-hoo, she needs to stand with one leg crossed over the other (a la Lauren Conrad in every picture she's ever taken). But Kristen, you are awesome and the fact that you are holding a little purse makes my heart melt- I <3 you!!!

She hit the nail in the head in Spain. She wore the leather mini dress with pockets there, too. PERFECTION.
I really think the hemline of the dress could've been taken down, the bodice fitted a bit more. The hair could have been a Veronica Lake sort of do, but dry (what were they thinking?) and the lip a nude gloss. Would've been epic.

I would actually love this dress if it didn't have the mesh beaded train thing hanging down. Yea – I don't think her ears are pierced. In fact, I was just wondering – does she have any piercings or tattoos? My thought is, no. I was afraid everyone here would say that it was a gorgeous dress. I hate the fringe and the dress itself is TOO short. It looks a little skanky to me. I love her hair though. She is going to have a hell of a time washing that out cause I have done my hair that way before and it was stiff as a board. I am also glad you agree about the Chanel she wore at the BAFTA's too. I think her dress is rebel and daring. It is like glamour meets edge with the high hip/thigh cut of the dress. Though it is a risk, come on, this is Kristen Stewart!! She will make that dress curve and love her too death.
This is a train-wreck. The bottom sheer makes her -usually killer- legs look weird, her hair looks flat and dirty. She even reminds me a bit of Rumor Willis in some pictures. Bizarre! I think the stylist responsible for this look hates her. The only thing that stands out is that Bella's va jay jay is almost showing. HOT MESS!!

And hello ladies and gents this is CHANEL black number. Coco Chanel is considered IMO rebel of fashion but very poise, feminine, and classy. She will have a certain cut to draw you more into the essentials and main area of the dress. The back of the dress is gorgeous and hugs the bare essentials. Then she has the clutch which is high fashion. I think she looks stunning. I would say if they gave her a little more waves or pin curls to smooth to her nape in a bun. It would be kisses.
Her stylist should have paid attention to give her a starry look for her hair as she has with her eyes and dress. Make her look like an authentic beauty. Some black amethyst or white diamond earrings would have made her bare earlobes impressionable.

It is bit disappointing but it is for a custome gala so it is meant to be kinda advant garde. But the hair….well you can see what look they are trying to get but it sorta doesnt quite work….

She looked gorgeous as usual and I love the make up and the hairstyle! The dress looks good from the top part until the part where it all starts to turn sparkly. Had they make the sparkly bit darker and thicker, it would have look nice but this is a fail.

I think that this dress looks better from the close shot like in the last picture, but overall it is awkward outfit, she pulls it up just because she's a beauty, on most women it would look like a total and hideous disaster.

She's a beautiful girl and everything– literally everything–looks good on her. She has a hell of a body and a gorgeous face. This dress, however…… just doesn't look right. It's not her. I don't think it would work for anyone, really. The hair doesn't work either. It doesn't look as bad in some shots as it does in other, but the overall look could've been better.
That being said, she's worn tons of incredible dresses. Dresses that have worked and made us all wish we were her. This is just a small mistake. One that fortunately she'll never have to remake.

Well, I've slept on it and I still don't like it. The whole thing is just wrong. Too much going on, the hair is a hot mess. Just wrong.
I am a fan of hers, but that doesn't mean that I have to love everything that she wears.
I will give her this. She at least didn't wear white like most of the others and she didn't look like a skank like some of the others.

The hair: fail- looks like she hasn't washed it since her very “active” weekend with Rob, and it makes her face look very wide.
The dress: Epic fail- far too short, and would have looked much, much better without the sheer bottom part.

I was gonna say the same thing (concentrating on the hair, which hardens her face features and transforms them completely almost beyond recognition) but then I saw your comment and decided to like it to prove my thoughts exactly. Am I really the only one who loves this dress? Its stunning, couture at it's finest. The Costume Institute Gala is all about taking risks, its not like an award show. And the hair is amazing and classic. I would have liked to seen her in a different colour, but this is a win for me!
