Eclipse chapter 10 Let’s Re Read Eclipse Together! Chapter 10 eclipse re read

Welcome to the ‘Eclipse’ Community Re-Read! Join us by reading a chapter every Monday & Friday.  I’ll post a thread for each chapter in the book, counting down the days until the official release of the film on June 30th. So, dig out your old or new copy of Eclipse, read the chapter and then come back here, and discuss anything you find of interest that you might have missed the first time around.

Chapter 10: Scent

Edward continued to look confused for one short moment, and then, abruptly he was rigid. “When did you notice your things were missing?”  “When I got back from the fake slumber party. Why?” “I don’t think Alice took anything. Not your clothes, or your pillow. The things that were taken, these were things you’d worn…and touched…and slept on?”  “Yes. What is it Edward?” His expression was strained. “Things with your scent.”  “Oh!” We stared into each other’s eyes for a long moment.  “My visitor.”  “He was gathering traces…evidence. To prove that he’d found you?”  “Why?” I whispered. “I don’t know. But, Bella, I swear I will find out.  I will.”

This chapter starts off with Edward and Bella preparing for Jacob’s arrival, to do his sniff test of Bella’s room. Bella tells Edward it’s not necessary for him to leave, just because Jacob will be present. Edward leaves anyway, and Jacob arrives, in natural Jacob Black fashion…half naked!

  • Pg. 215 “Come in Jake!”  “Should you really leave your door unlocked like that? Oh, sorry.” I slopped myself with dishwater when he’d startled me. “I’m not worried about anyone who would be deterred by a locked door.” “Good point,” he agreed.  I turned to look at him, eyeing him critically. “Is it really so impossible to wear clothes, Jacob?”  Once again, Jacob was bare-chested, wearing nothing but a pair of old cut-off jeans.  Secretly, I wondered if he was just so proud of his new muscles that he couldn’t stand to cover them up.  I had to admit, they were impressive.
  • Pg. 217  Jacob and his biceps, along with his 8-pack, comes back down to the Swan kitchen. After doing his check of Bella’s room, he has a few questions for her. “Whew!” “Yeesh, Jake cut that out!”  “Sorry.  Here-I’ll make it up to you. You wash, I’ll rinse and dry.”  “Fine.”  “Well the scent was easy enough to catch.  By the way, your room reeks.”  “I’ll buy some air freshener.”  He laughed. “Can I ask you something? I’m not trying to be a jerk or anything-I’m honestly curious.” Jacob assured me. “What’s it like-having a vampire for a boyfriend?” I rolled my eyes. “It’s the best.” “I’m serious. The idea doesn’t bother you-it never creeps you out?” “Never.”  He was silent as he reached for the bowl in my hands. I peeked up at his face-he was frowning, his lower lip jutting out. “Anything else?” “Well…I was wondering…do you…y’know, kiss him?” I laughed. “Yes.” He shuttered. “Ugh.”  “To each her own.” “You don’t worry about the fangs?” I smacked his arm, splashing him with dishwater. “Shut up Jacob! You know he doesn’t have fangs!” “Close enough. Can I ask another one?” he asked softly when I passed the knife to him. “Just curious, again.”
  • Pg. 219 After Jacob’s temper gets the best of him, and he accidentally cuts himself, we learn of Jacob’s super fast healing power! “You said a few weeks…When, exactly?” “Graduation.” “So soon,” he breathed, his eyes closing. It didn’t sound like a question. It sounded like a lament. The muscles in his arms tightened and his shoulders were stiff. “OW!” he shouted; it had gotten so still in the room that I jumped a foot in the air at his outburst. His right hand had curled into a tense fist around the blade of the knife-he unclenched his hand and the knife clattered onto the counter. Across his palm was a long, deep gash. The blood streamed down his fingers and dripped to the floor. “Damn it! Ouch!” he complained. My head spun and my stomach rolled. I clung to the countertop with one hand, took a deep breath through my mouth, and forced myself to get a grip so that I could take care of him. He ignored the dish towel I pushed at him. He put his hand under the faucet and let the water wash over the wound. The water ran red. My head whirled. “Bella,” he said. “What?” “You look like you’re going to pass out, and you’re biting your lip off. Stop it. Relax. Breath. I’m fine.”  Bella semi-recovers from her bout with Jacob’s blood, just enough to take him to the E.R. but it’s unnecessary.  He unwound the towel and, when I reached out to take the cloth, he laid his hand in mine. It took me a few seconds. I even flipped his hand over, though I was sure he’d cut his palm. I turned his hand back up, finally realizing that the angry pink, puckered line was all that was left of his wound. “But…you were bleeding…so much.” “I heal fast.”  He screwed his mouth up into half a smile and thumped his fist once against his chest. “Werewolf, remember?”
  • Pg. 222  Jacob says ‘Sure, sure’ again! Edward is waiting outside the Swan residence, and Jacob get’s his queue to go, but not without some last minute Jacob humor. “Can I ask you something, Bella? What’s it-like having a werewolf for a best friend?” The question caught me off guard. I laughed out loud. “Does it creep you out?” he pressed before I could answer. “No. When the werewolf is being nice, it’s the best.” He grinned widely, his teeth bright against his russet skin. “Thanks, Bella.” he said, and then he grabbed my hand and wrenched me into one of his bone-crushing hugs. “Ugh. Your hair stinks worse than your room.” “Sorry.” “One of the many hazards of socializing with vampires,” Jacob said. “It makes you smell bad. A minor hazard, comparatively.”
  • Pg. 223-232 Before leaving, Jacob invited Bella up to the Quileute reservation for a bonfire later on that evening. Of course Bella declines, but says she will clear it with Edward first. Jacob throws in the ‘add Charlie’ card for good measure, and insists that it’s a safe bet for both of them to be at La Push since things are a bit sketchy at the Swan house. Edward arrives with Bella’s mail, which consists of her Dartmouth college response letter. Bella had no idea Edward even sent in an application to the school in Bella’s name. Of course she declines to open it, and insists it’s a waste of money since she will be made immortal. Bella remembers to tell Edward to ask Alice if she moved any of Bella’s items around in her room on Thursday. Edward swears Alice didn’t take anything. The pair deduces that whoever was in Bella’s room took the items, to get a heavily concentrated whiff of her scent, and Edward goes bonkers! Carlisle calls Edward before he gets the chance to call him, but it’s about another situation. Dreary boring Forks, has become the happening place to be, with non-stop action apparently. Edward grabs the Seattle Times and notices the headline: Murder Epidemic Continues-Police Have No New Leads. Edward fears the Volturi will step in and clean house, similar to their cleaning spree a few years ago. Edward assumes the murders are being committed by a gang of newborns, and feels Jasper will be more than helpful if need be. Always eavesdropping, Edward insists that Bella go to the bonfire at La Push, while he and the others get down to business.
  • Pg. 233  While walking her bike into the Cullen garage, Bella notices a shiny object. Next to my little antique motorcycle, overshadowing it, was another vehicle. To call this vehicle a motorcycle hardly seemed fair, since it didn’t seem to belong to the same family as my suddenly shabby-looking bike. It was big and sleek and silver and-even totally motionless-it looked fast. “What’s that?” “Nothing,” Edward murmured. “It doesn’t look like nothing.” “Well, I didn’t know if you were going to forgive your friend, or he you, and I wondered if you would still want to ride your bike anyway. It sounded like it was something that you enjoyed. I thought I could go with you, if you wished.” I stared at the beautiful machine. Beside it, my bike looked like a broken tricycle. I felt a sudden wave of sadness when I realized that this was not a bad analogy for the way I probably looked next to Edward.  Sidebar- do you feel Bella has self esteem issues? “I wouldn’t be able to keep up with you,” I whispered. Edward put his hand under my chin and pulled my face around so that he could see it straight on. With one finger, he tried to push the corner of my mouth up. “I’d keep pace with you, Bella.”  This is where I just melted!!!
  • Pg. 234 Edward comes to the realization that riding bikes, is a sport that Bella and Jacob enjoy together and decides to give his new bike to Jasper, who has been eyeing it from day one. I kind of feel bad for Edward. I think she kind of hurt his feelings. Let’s be real, Bella has all the fun with Jacob, and with Edward it’s survival of the fittest. It’s such a loving gesture that he would even consider buying this bike even though Bella is soo prone to life threatening idiocy, lol!
  • This chapter ends with Edward being a bit turned on by Bella in her new hot gal riding jacket and helmet. “Be honest, how do I look?” He took another step back and pursed his lips. “That bad huh?” “No, no, Bella. Actually…you look…sexy.” I laughed out loud. “Right.” “Very sexy, really.”  Edward then escorts Bella to the boundary line of La Push to meet Jacob. There Edward must mark his territory and plant a big wet kiss on Bella in front of Jacob Black. Jacob in turn grabs Bella and gives her his signature vice-grip hug and this ticks Edward right off and he and his Volvo speed off into the sunset.

I must say, all this male testosterone is fabulous! I love how human Jacob and human- like Edward can be at times! So how do you feel about the little truce taking place? Do you prefer the fighting? I like the truce when both sides play fair. These darn newborns are getting on my last nerves!  On Monday its Quileute time! For all the wolf lovers, I’ll make sure to go into plenty of detail and make it worth your while. Eclipse icon wink Let’s Re Read Eclipse Together! Chapter 10 eclipse re read

Hey lovinggrandmother, thanks for all you are doing.  I have heard about all the “Bree” typing you are doing.  I have one question about the movie…… It seems that the vampires we see are down right beautiful expecially the Cullens.  I know Victoria and Laurent were good looking, James was a little rough on the edges.  Riley was just darling……Bree is pretty……….but the new borns, I didn’t think were that beautiful in the movie.  Is it me or are the Cullens beautiful because they are vegetarians.

  • EdwardsNana

There she is……theres our sweet DancingAlice.  I am good dear, and you?

Hi Edwards Nana-good morning and happy Memorial Day-Twiheart thank you for the beautiful email that pertained to today. I forwarded to my daughter hopefully she will forward on to her friends/that are presently serving this country….

EN- to your above question my answer is no…. I believe it is because they are much more civilizied and live within the human world when possible, out of the sun.  They seem to do all the normal things that a human does, shower, wash their hair, were nice clothes and always smell good, at least to us.

Yes I agree that the newborns were ruff around the edges, but that is probable due to the fact they were unkept and uncivilizied, due to being untrained, and very new.

Riley, Diego were the oldest of the newborns so they were in control,  Bree and Fred to me were well on there way to being civilizied as they were smart, Bree for being a 15-16 year old teenager was so similiar to Bella in ways I can see why there is an attachment to her story for Stephanie.

Reading something to me and see the words are to different things.  In many ways I think that the world is to fast and that is probable why we don’t comprehend the written word the way it is actually written. Todays society is so busy that we don’t sit and read and then read it again,(if you understand what I mean) we just keep going and not pondering the feeling or the thoughts that are inspired by that particular piece.  The Cullens are beautiful in and out because they savor the human life, and humanity.

DA I thought I had read all of Alyson Noel books except for the newest in the Immortal Series, Shimmer which one is that?
I have so many books that I want to read over the summer and I haved to purchase them, because they aren’t in our library here, which to me means censorship which is frustrating, that’s what happens when you live in the “bible belt”. But until we get threw with our re-read I have put some of my books on hold for now anyway.

No I understand that EN, but remember my theory a couple of chapters ago… About the pull between Jake and Bella…. its not…. love…. its the impending future child Nessie - the imprinting which is only 2 months away…. when Jake imprints on Nessie. I believe that is why they are not able to “lose each other”.   Jake continuously is not accepting of Bella’s decision he is a very stubborn wolf. Hard head, pushy DOG that imprints on Renessme and changes her name to Nessie. lol:))

Happy Memorial Day everyone, I can’t believe I get to stay in bed n not go to work! I hope you all have a wonderful day :)

  • EdwardsNana

Good Morning lovinggrandmother & Twi-family.  Thanks for your views lg. & your explanation of the difference between our beautiful Cullens and the newborns. I am so happy I have my audio of “Bree”, because now I know what you are talking about when you refer to Diego and Fred.  I tried countless times to get into this book…..SM offered it free on her web-site before July of 2010.  I think that was the cut off date.  Anyway, I would read, my mind would wander, and I couldn’t remember what I read.  Then I rented the audio from Cracker Barrel while I was traveling down to Baton Rouge with my sister, hoping to get a glimpse of one of the BD cast.  But alas, Kristen & Robert were far away on Isle Esmee filming……My sister and I were on our annual birthday trip together that we do each year, and we went to New Orleans.  We did see where Kristen filmed WTTR.  “Bree”  was such a “downer”  I tuned it off.  Took it back without finishing it.  Then I went to the library and got the book.  Still no luck with reading it.  I actually had the same problem with “Cosmopolis” Robert’s new movie that he is filming.  But I don’t think I really liked Eric.  I didn’t enjoy “Bel Ami” but once again I didn’t care for Georges.   Had no trouble with “Water for Elephants” but I love Jacob J.  I had no trouble with “Remember Me” but I love Tyler.  And we all know I can read every “Twilight Saga” book countless times (excluding  many pages in NM during Edwards absence)  So I have come to the conclusion either I have some dyslexia sypmtoms or I a stubborn and if a book has Edward or Robert involved, I will be drawn to it.  Its just the way it is with me.  Love Love Love Edward.  I even read fan written storys about him.  They are never like SM.  But some of these people have wonderful talents in writting and they also love twilight & Edward.  Hope you are having a great weekend.  I start my TLC job, tomorrow, I pray it will be good for all of us.  Hugs!!!!!

  • EdwardsNana

I never got into the imprinting thing.  It is a cool concept, but if a wolf imprints, what if the other party doesn’t feel the same????  Like when Jacob Black tried to imprint on Bella, there was no way.  But that didn’t stop him from bugging the hell out of her anyway.
With Bella & Edward…..they were both drawn to each other…….instantly……..At first he didn’t understand…..what was drawing him to her and why he wanted to kill her.  But she was never afraid of him and wanted him from day one.  With Jacob Black & Bella it was always a friendship, of course in the future there was Nessie……..but that is beyond me.  SM imagination is amazing.
I can understand the love Bella & Edward have.  But Jacob Black and Nessie…..wow, And as far as protecter, Her daddy Edward, is the best.  But Jacob Black becomes the ultimate protecter of that little girl.  Nothing will ever hurt her……..What would we do in BD without Jacob Black.  This is when I really appreciate him………when he finally excepts Edward & Bella together.  But I did have trouble with him when he thought Bella would hurt her baby.  After all Bella went through to have her baby and he thinks he should protect the baby from her mom.  Bella would never never hurt her baby…………never.  I think Alice is the one who speaks up for Bella.  Good ole Alice.  Of course Alice can see that Bella won’t hurt her baby.  OK I am off my “imprinting” soapbox.  Hugs!!!

I´m fine, thanks, it´s great you can come here again. How´s your baby – granddaughter?

Thank you DancingAlice,  All is good here.  She is wonderful. Hope all is well with you.

  • LaurelLeaf

Hello, my friends.  I haven’t been able to get back here in a while and took a stab at what chapter you were on and voila!  It’s so great to read what you’ve been discussing.  I have always said that Eclipse bothers me a lot.  I really didn’t like the situations that SM placed our stars in; everything felt ‘off’ to me.  Maybe like Jacob says in BD, that he finally can love Bella the right way when Nessie appears and that extremely awkward threesome is resolved.  Everyone is in their right place.  I believe it’s the future child, also, that pulls Jacob.  That half of Bella (those pesty chromosomes!) are calling him.  In Twilight-verse, anything can happen.  I often wonder when and if anything like this has happened in Wolf history??  What if one of the Wolf Brothers suddenly has a hankering for another bro’s mate?  Seth said a figtht happened once (mentioned in BD) and it hurt everyone in the pack.  Was it because of an unborn child was ‘calling’ to her imprint?  To be honest, I much prefer Bella being confused because of this wolfy imprinting stuff than that she was truly tempted by Jacob.  I don’t care that SM said that Bella did fall in love with him in New Moon.  It just didn’t make sense from all that I read of Bella and Edward’s relationship, that Bella could be swayed.

Also, could Jacob’s alpha status, even though he hasn’t accepted it yet, influence Bella?  The alpha can influence others of the pack, yes?  He often manipulates Bella with guilt (my dog does that, too!) but when he overwhelms her in that CHAPTER that I want to scream about, Bella resists for a long time, but gets overwhelmed by Jacob’s feelings.  Ole, Jake, is a little like Jazz with his emotional manipulations.  And after that first forced kiss, Bella says something about not letting Jacob make her feel guilty or something?  I can’t quite remember, but he tries to play word games and twist things.  For the life of me, I wish Bella would have hit him with Emmett’s baseball bat!

Hi Lovinggrandmother, Shimmer is connected with the Immortal series. I read all the 5 books and in July the last one will come out. The main character is 17-year-old Ever Bloom who lives with her aunt because her parents, 12-year-old sister Riley and her dog Buttercup died in a car crash. At the beginning Ever talks to her dead sister but later Riley moves on and her story starts there in Radiance and then Shimmer where she is with Buttercup and in summer the third book – Dreamworld will come out.

Hi,  DA yes they are the same books that I have read just titled differently, I forgot that in some countries then change titles on books.  I have already read 4 in the series and the 5th I just have not gotten yet. They are the immortal series, 1st being Evermore, 2nd, Blue moon, 3rd Shadowland, 4th is Dark flame, and the 5th is titled Night star which as I said have not read as yet.  Did you get my email I sent you the other day? She is very good writer I like her books and the concept.  But other than that nothing compared to some of the other reading material I read.  In the last book it was a slow read for me, didn’t hold my interest quite as much…

    Hi TeamEC1918, enjoy your holiday.

  • Anonymous

Lgm, it might have been Nessie’s pull on Jacob all along, even before Bella got pregnant.  I read somewhere that girls are born with all their eggs in their ovaries, and that they are released each month until they run out.  So Jacob could have been attracted to that little single cell egg (1/2 of future Nessie) in Bella’s ovary from the beginning of his werewolf transformation.  That may sound far fetched, but so is imprinting.  Wish we could ask Stephenie about that.

  • Anonymous

Hi EdwardsNana.  I’m stickin with the story (Bree) this time.  If Lgm typed it for me, bless her heart, I’m gonna finish it.   It’s the first read for me.  Like you, I tried to read it before, but lost interest.  I don’t care for gratuitous violence.

  • Anonymous

Twigrandma— that is my point exactly, but I just didn’t want to mention that… food for thought… But yes woman are born with eggs within the ovaries although they don’t really start to mature until sometime later. But that is a true fact.

  • EdwardsNana

Oh twigrandma, I am just about finished with the “Bree” audio.  Trust me.  I feel just as you do.  But it really does connect some things.  I really like the audio.  I got it from the library.  The girl who reads the audio has a perfect voice.  She sounds like the actress who did Bree in the movie.  I agree with you on the vampire gratuitous violence.  I really do.  But I ignore that part just like I ignore the “f” word.  SPOILER SPOILER  I will only say that Bree likes our Edward.  That will give you something to look forward to.

    Enjoy !:-)

I’m with you,we’ll all have to take turns though.

  • Anonymous

Yes, she wants it all, but as they say 3′s a crowd,so the mutt will have to go,Edward doesn’t have a problem kicking Jacob to the curb.LOL

  • Anonymous

Bella still makes me mad at times, because it hurts Edward, can’t help it.

  • Anonymous

I try to think of it that way too ,but it still was painful for Edward regardless of the circumstanes at the time it was happening.

  • Anonymous

So true EwardsNana,I know Bella truely loves Edward, but as I have said before Bella has a double standard when it comes to Edward & Jacob.Yes, Edward does still feel guilty about leaving Bella & everything she went through during his absence ,he can’t forgive himself for hurting her so much, even though Bella has forgiven hmi.

  • Anonymous

Lets hold her down & give her a good talking too,if that doesn’t help then the slap.LOL

  • Anonymous

    You bet he is :-)

  • Anonymous

I would love to wack him too but he would just brake my hand too.

  • LaurelLeaf

I really wish Edward was allowed to ‘kick Jacob to the curb’. LOL.  It would have satisified our E-man so much!!  I was getting sick of hearing Bella always sticking up for and protecting Jacob; like girlfriend, think about your main man, Edward, he comes first in all things.

  • LaurelLeaf

I don’t think she was ungrateful about the motorcycle.  Her ‘ungratefulness’ or thoughtlessness shows up painfully later in the book regarding the engagement ring, but here I think Bella is still suffering from inadequatecy (sp?).  Both Edward and Bella fumble through this moment and it’s hard to watch until the “You look sexy” moment.

Edward truly wants to participate with Bella in something she enjoys-and also get her to enjoy it with him rather than his doggie rival.  Go E-man!  Unfortunately, Edwards idea of a motorcycle is expensive and sleek and Bella being Bella, sees only how fancy it is compared to her little fixer upper.  It wasn’t Edward’s intent to remind her of the difference, but it happened.  Also, Bella knows that Edward will be anxiously protective and it kind of takes the fun out of the ride if someone is hovering around you…poor Edward can’t help it.  I feel bad for him here.

For Bella, she really identifies with her fixer upper motorcyle–found abandoned and unwanted by the road…it’s a painful reminder and the whole abandonment issues are not healed in either of them.

One of my fantasies, ladies, is that I really wish we could have seen a scene somewhere after Elipse where our lovers really talk and take steps to heal.  I’d love to see Bella wearing Edward’s heart pendant on a necklace around her neck where it belongs –not on Jake’s bracelet!  I’d love to see Bella with crimson red nails and toenails, snugly in her sexy leather motorcycle jacket and helmet, drive up to the Cullen’s and take her Edward for a ride .  That way they could experience this together, Bella has the controls, and Edward is sitting behind her with his arms protectively around her, and off they go.  I think Bella would enjoy this more than she would let on!  Much better having Edward cozy behind her than zooming around goofily in La Push with Jake.  MMMMmmmmm.

Hi LaurelLeaf ,your here, so glad you found us.How’s it going ? Hope you had a nice Memorial Day.Great post, I agree that Bella really did mean to come across as ungrateful, but it did come off that way,but we do know she has always felt unworthy of Edwards love,as she see’s him as this impossibly perfect creature.

Ooooooo, I’m with you on that fantasy, LaurelLeaf!

Hi EdwardsNana!  I remember “Dallas”, never missed an episode.  It was Krysten who shot JR!!  I did not like JR, but I loved everyone else in the show.   Did you ever watch ”Dynasty?”   It was on TV at about the same time period.  Another great show.   I have sweet memories of watching it on Friday nights while I was rocking my babies to sleep. LOL!

Hi Nana! Thanks for the spoiler. I am not surprised that Bree would like Edward. That helps hold my interest. :)

Yes, I woould love to see him kick Jacobs butt too! LOL

  • EdwardsNana

You know I agree with you TeamEdward_Bella4ever, I usually do.

  • EdwardsNana

Like said TeamEdward_Bella4ever, we both agree that Robert/Edward is better than a lottery prize.

  • EdwardsNana

Hi twigrandma………Oh yes, I watched “Dynasty”  loved it.  You and I remember.

  • EdwardsNana

Hi twigrandma.  I can’t believe I am saying this……I am so happy I read “Bree” as lovinggrandmothr said, it brings several  other pieces into the puzzle and explains some things…..

  • LaurelLeaf

Sigh, it’s a nice fantasy, isn’t it, Twigrandma?  I have to entertain myself somehow while waiting for BD or anything Twilight-y to come out.  You know, I wish they’ would have had more E & B banter/laughter in the movies.  It came off as if Bella was only having fun with puppy boy, Jake, and not her “Love of her existance” Edward.  I also wish that even in the books, besides a page or two of Edward & Bella discussing healing their relationship (including a hot motorcycle ride together), we could have seen/heard Bella say “Thank you” more.  Thank Sam and the wolves for their help, thank all the Cullen’s, and for Heaven sake, thank her beloved Edward for all that he has done for her.  The poor man needs a big lift to help restore him from all this mess.  Bella isn’t the only one who suffered from the separation.  Oh, well, maybe someday SM will write more books about our wonderful characters.

  • LaurelLeaf

Hi, dear.  Do you have the Eclipse Illustrated Companion book?  You know, the movie tie in?  Somewhere in the beginning the author says something about: in Eclipse, Bella no longer wonders if she is good enough for Edward but rather if Edward is good enough for her.  When I read that, my mouth fell open, because I never sensed that when I read Eclipse.  To me, Bella was still feeling unworthy.  Heck, later in the book, the poor girl felt embarressed when she tried her seduction moves in “Compromise” and doesn’t believe Edward that he and other males desire her.  For all Bella’s knowledge (she is pretty smart and quite a book reader) she is very innocent about other things….She has no clue about her desirablity and she is terrified to be rejected.  I think Jacob kind of took advantage of her with that; all that wolfy lust overwhelming her….

  • Anonymous

LaurelLeaf, I agree. Some gratitude from Bella would have been nice and definitely some smiles and laughter between E and B. Maybe we’ll get more of that in BD on the honeymoon and after the transformation. Meanwhile, I’m going to dream about E and B riding that motorcycle, E in the back. LOL!

  • Anonymous

In Eclipse, Bella no longer wonders if she is good enough for Edward, but rather if Edward is good enough for her?  Nope.   LaurelLeaf, I didn’t see it that way, either and for the same reasons you said. Funny how people can look at the same thing and see it differently.

  • Anonymous

Hi LaurelLeaf,I do have the illustrated companion book, but I don’t remember the author saying that, but it’s been awhile since I read it,but that would be very un-Bella like ,she always felt unworthy of Edwardeven though she knew Edward was totally committed to her after they came back from Italy. However at this point in Eclipse I do think Bella was confident in Edward’s love for her and that she believed him when he said he would never leave her again and with that knowledge it did give Bella a certain amount of power back in their relationship.

  • Anonymous

Hi EdwardsNana,Edward is so much better,he is the lottery prize of a life time,or of eternity.

  • LaurelLeaf

TeamEdward_Bella4ever & Twigrandma, I don’t know if you’ll get back to see this post but I checked my Illustrated Companion for the quote.  It is by Wyck Godfrey and is on page 31: “By Eclipse, Bella no longer questions whether she’s good enough for Edward, but rather whether Edward is right for her….Jacob forces her to ask herself this….”   Okay, we all know Jacob ‘forces’ Bella a lot in Eclipse but I still don’t see where Bella believes she is good enough for Edward!  She always has self doubts about her worth and she even wonders if she is more of a monster than Edward due to some of her behaviour.  Oh, well, like you say Twigrandma, people see things differently…
