how am i going to wait 7 months...seriously...i will say one thing...edward in the book had a tone about him...one that even bella mentions always seems like his patterns of speech are from a different time...so it bugs me when they have edward saying things lines that 1. arent in the book...as if what SM came up with wasnt good enough and 2. what he says isnt special enough to convey his constant need for bella...

MR the book said it best... seriously...the writing was pure poetry... u can take some artistic license...but keep the beautiful prose...thats what made me fall in love with the books...stop fixing what isnt broken...

I have the leaked New Moon script and Alice's vision is there but nothing suggesting the cheesiness... they was obviously added later by god knows who. So really is it worth completely degrading someone about?

Everything from the final film is not 100% MR... Directors frequently change scenes or change lines. If Chris disagreed with anything or if Stephenie did, they would have changed it. Everyone that matters is behind MR. The final result of a film is up to the director, good or bad

Except I think they're enrolling Rob and Kristen in some quickie "How to write a screenplay for dummies." Or at least they are in my dream.

i dunno if we should let rob write it...he seems to think edward is more depressed than he really is and i really hate seeing depressing edward. But i love ur name. I never realized until i saw new moon that i still have a problem with these movies and then i realized my problem was MR. Don't get me wrong, she seems to be improving somewhat and it seems that she was saying some good stuff that she included in her script in the interview, but still she should stick to doing tv. She helps write dexter and i love that show, but for something as big as twilight you just don't throw somebody in there that has never written a script for a movie. But hey, new moon could have been a lot worse. If CH was still around, she woulda helped MR write the script and then we would have a twilight movie disaster all over again. Oh god i almost forgot what the biggest part of my beef with MR is...i forgot that she said in an interview that she originally wanted the new moon proposal to be moved to the eclipse movie. Like how dumb is that...who does she think she is. Luckily, CW saved the day and gave us a very good cliffhanger with edward asking bella to marry him. Maybe thats why BD is yet to be announced...maybe they are secretly looking for somebody to write a better script. Ha i can only wish. I think you should have a couple people write a draft and then whoever's draft is better, they should be picked for BD.

Excellent point jaredmed. MR's style of writing is much better suited to television than to this. I think she might have gotten away with writing for something like Mall Cop, but the Twilight Saga in movie form seems to be too much for her.

That being said, I am not an MR fan, but she improved for New Moon and I was able to watch the movie without thinking "WTF" every 10 seconds... and for that, I'm grateful!

I like MR she isnt that bad and she has done a wonderful job converting the book to movie form. It isnt her fault they picked the wrong clothing for alice's vision. I am so ready for ECLIPSE!!!

What is wrong with MR is that she's horrible at adapting the books to the screen. She focuses on the wrong aspects, creates more of a love triangle than there had been originally, and has horrible dialogue.

She's okay about 20 percent of the time but that is not good enough.

I am such a sucker for old fashioned...would love to see Bella's vision of the proposal in Edward's time! Very romantic

Eclipse was the hardest book for me to read. I'm such a Team Edward girl that I literally threw my book when Bella kissed Jacob. And I actually like Jacob most of the time, but in this book, he was just vindictive and it seemed more about winning to him than when originally he was trying to save her life. Anyway... It will be difficult, but I know how it ultimately works out, so hopefully that will get me through. I don't like the idea of having to see Edward suffer when her devotion to him falters (just slightly). I'm really excited to see all the back stories though, that's going to be great!

she's talking about flashback scenes the peter guys is a vamp that starts the wolf transformation way back in the begining. she also talks about a proposal Bella had pictured in her head about Edward proposing to her back in his time so she added that scene to the movie. I had to listen to it 2 times cause the first time all I heard was bla bla bla bla bla.

According to Cara08, we've already seen that. Alice's vision was wrong in NM. That was one of Bella's dream but CW did a switcheroo. It's in the companion book.

Yeah the whole frolicking in the woods thing did not work at all for me in NM. I was expecting to see Bella looking pale and HOT with some newborn red eyes. I like the way MR talks about the one in Eclipse though. Sitting on the porch and Edward down on one knee.... *sigh* But I did not like the slow motion running through the trees....

Exactly. Bella should have been running faster than Edward. If I could pick just one scene to be re-done; it would be that one. The clothes are all wrong for that scene too.

C-Dub said that 20 scenes didnt make it into the movie. WHERE THE F WAS THE MOUNTING? I mean Kristens screaming was really powerful in the movie and she herself made moping attractive but there was ONE dream sequence. Rob said that she has awful nightmares about Edward, which is an interesting contradiction to see given that in the visions Edward is protective...no actually he is scolding and the nightmare Edward was supposed to be this frightening distant perfect individual. It would show more of the inner damage. But I get it...run time...
I find it quite interesting that they cut Rachelles part to the minimum especially close-ups of her face. clever. They tried to make her less memorable.
The DVD will def be worth buying. Think it will come out in Feb-March?

And how did you like NM overall? I know its sick but I liked the part after 'Huge hole punched in my chest' . Also LOVED the whole cinema thing. especially the conversation on the staircase. probably my fave J/B scene.

The album scene when she runs upstairs and sees how he emptied her album of all his pictures. That scene is harder to stomach than the breakup scene in the book cause it's when she officially realizes that he is not coming back.

Hmmm... If they did the scene where Edward takes the picture out of the album it both makes and doesnt make sense to do that scene.

I kept falling asleep, not because it was boring but because I haven't slept over the past three weeks. Thanks Robstenlor!

Acting.

Kristen did an amazing job. I'm in awe, especially of the break up scene where you feel literally everything she's feeling. I loved her throughout, but particularly when she's in Volterra and she tells Aro to kill her instead of Edward. I thought she had a great chemistry with Taylor. It's not going to be like Bellward's but it wasn't a brother and sister type of relationship either. The way she hugged him so tightly in her bedroom, with desperation, and how she'd lean into him like she did need him. There was chemistry. Kristen was just raw and real in this film. I literally want to go again to witness her talent. Yeah, I want to see it again because of her, not even because of Rob.

Rob was... depressing. He was beautiful. His eyes were hypnotic. But his performance wasn't dynamic enough for film. He stayed too level in this one lulling, melodramatic stupor. It varies a bit in Volterra, in the reunion scene, but not by much. He finds out she's alive and he's still depressed. Felix beats him up and he's depressed. Give me some variety, man. The doom and gloom was too much.

Taylor... Taylor, Taylor, Taylor. Taylor was a pleasant surprise. I loved him in the scene where he begs Bella to stay. I love him in the bedroom scene. I love him on the First Beach scene when he calls Bella a hypocrite. I loved him when he was a fun-loving teen who crushed hard on a girl. I loved him in the last scene demanding that Edward not speak for her. He was Jacob. There is no other Jacob. I'm so glad he's still here.

Supporting
Billy was great. I actually liked Ashley's performance in Twilight better than here. She seemed to be overacting. The Volturi were great. Aro was f'ing crazy. I loved that. Dakota was great. I wish there was more of Alex, I think he did a great job too. And Rachelle had no lines, which is a shame because she was definitely menacing enough. Loved Rachelle. I will miss her.

Onto my next review: script and direction

You see I always thought that Rob was a bit pissed off at Chaty Cathy for not letting him be suicidal all the time in Twilight.
So he decided: The crazy cougar is gone sooooooo I'm gonna be darker in NM. and as you said too little variation in the re-union scene. I know you can interpret it that Edward doesnt actually know wtf is going on.

I loved how Kristen showed the difference between J's Bella and E's Bella. You see that even in the parking lot scene. She tried to joke with Edward.
Then comes Jacob.
and its so easy to watch that banter. theres also more casual touching between them. some tender, some just playful.
she tried to do something alike in the corridor with hitting Edward with the box. But it was with a box.'Don't trust vampires. trust me' is one of the little Edward lines i liked.
Taylors and Kristens dynamic really surprised me. in some scenes you even though 'Damn why suddenly they had to bring up Sparkles?'. My second fave JB scene after the staircase is the bedroom scene. 'But I would runaway with YOU'. cheesy line. yes. delivered in a non-cheesy way. YOU BET.
Also loved '(warmth)its a Jacob thing. Youre like your own sun.'

Yeah, when I saw Rob strut, brooding so hard his brain might explode, I knew we were in for a majorly despondent performance. No crooked smile in this sequel. And when he recited Shakespeare as if he had suffered in Auschwitz for 10 years, I knew that the rest of his scenes would be brutal.

And so Enter Taylor Lautner. From the moment Taylor lifts Kristen for a hug, I felt like I could breathe again. I'm still floored by how my perception of this character altered so drastically from this film. I was annoyed by Jake's EXISTENCE when I read the books. He was a pesky fly that needed to be squatted immediately. He should not tamper with Bellward's love. But on film, I pitied him, I loved him, I wanted to be with him instead of with Edward. Everyone who had a hand in this, even MR should be applauded. Rob is EC but Taylor revitalized Jacob. And I feel the same way, whenever EC came up in conversation, I felt like I was about to fall into a black pit of despair.

Totally ITA with you!! Those cheesy lines worked for some reason, I don't know why. I loved when Jacob's like, "hey, 108 degrees over here" lol. And I loved watching all the wolfpack in the kitchen, watching Sam kiss Emily like that! I love the middle of the film so much. It really was warmer!

Hahaha. Nice. I wrote that the morning after I saw the film. I think the only difference between then and having watched it two more times now is that Rob wasn't as morose as I originally thought, especially in the beginning of the film. He actually was happy.

Lol. I've said a lot about it over the past few days in other posts but in a nutshell, I think that one, it's better than Twilight and two is worse than Twilight.

All of the elements were there to make it a fabulous film (except for the dialogue <see username>. And yet, it's hard to watch over and over again because it's so morose. Even though Twilight was bad, at least that sense of awe hooked you in. But here, the dread makes you want to turn away. I think if the reunion scene and bedroom scenes were longer, I'd feel differently; I'd feel more closure. But I literally feel like Rob looked 90% of the time in the movie, just crummy.

So CW did his job. He made me feel the essence of NM. And he and Taylor accomplished something I never thought I'd ever feel: pity and adoration for Jacob Black.

My favorite scenes are the parking lot scene when Rob does his diva entrance, the breakup scene and the garage scenes. I love those garage scenes to pieces.

i have a dif theory. Twilight was about discovery. It made you sit at the edge of the chair constantly thinking 'what's gonna happen next?'. but yeah. The reunion scene is anticlimatic

we saw that they kissed on the steps,i'm still trying to figure it out :did Rob and Kristen want the world to see them kissing on a movie set and so not have to kiss at the MMA's? or was it supposed to be this way:

'Bella'
*smooch*
Bella ends the kiss
'You have to move'
pushes him out

they carried their dialogue that ensues later but fck how cheesy were Robs lines? and a common thing happened in over 2 h movies happened:a rushed end. still I like the bedroom scene. What would make it better -notice that there is a wierd cutting after the kiss :first they are in each other faces,forehead resting on forehead then suddenly there is a big gap between them.

Hmm, I have no idea about that reunion scene but literally, after Bella jumps off the cliff, the film is rushed. Notice how just about all the scenes preceding the cliff dive take their time, even minor scenes like when Carlisle cleans Bella's wound. That scene seemed to be the same amount of time as the reunion scene which should not be the case at all. And why is the Laurent scene longer than the reunion scene??? That reunion scene must've been nearly 10 minutes long with meaty dialogue, as was the bedroom scene.

Hmm, I did not notice that. It's hard to notice minor things when I'm still trying to grasp the entire thing. My mind still can't gasp the film as itself rather than as the adaptation of the book.

What the hale is up with all the humans? Who wants to watch that crap? We want Bellward darn it! Oh man, I should've known better than to expect anything good from Summit like an album scene and an extended reunion and bedroom scene. Jesus H. Christ!

i actually loved the Carlisle Bella scene. And think it sets up perfectly the scene in front of Bellas house. its true the movie has a wierd pacing but I like it more every time I watch it. which is by now 4 times.

oh I know!.. the 1st time i didn't now what mode to be in.. my OME!i'm finally gonna see this mode, or if anyone p'd me off, they're getting it mode or movie critic mode, or concentrate mode, or comparing to book mode, or just take it for what it is mode..*facepalm* .. i was all lost!!.. lol..

It really wasn't fair how I went in it the first time expecting certain scenes and then leave pissed that they weren't included. It's an adaptation, with various people's interpretations of the book. I should only critique it for what it was not what it wasn't, ya know?

Dude, the second time I saw it, it was even worse than the first because all I saw were Rob, Kristen, Taylor, Rachelle who will be replaced by Bryce in Eclipse, Aro's wig that was better than Kristen's in Eclipse. I literally thought all of these things while watching. I could not suspend disbelief for a moment. In fact, during the breakup scene, I literally felt myself straining to suspend disbelief lol.

I think by the fourth viewing, I'll be submerged in Forks again. It was a bit easier the third time to lose myself but not enough.

Yeah I was thinking Feb/March too. That was about the timeline for Twilight. But I'm not sure. I would love if it was sooner but that's probably wishful thinking. Yeah I know really clever about Rachelle. I didn't even notice that. Man I apparently missed a lot the first time I saw it.

I also noticed how many guys surround Bella. And that effing everyone HAS to touch her face. Look for that the next time. Also I liked how the first and last kiss were differed. the position. kristen played at the beginning a very intuitive Bella, a Bella feeling that it wont last long, but living in the moment. in the first kiss its a towering Edward to lean in and end the kiss and Bella, simply said, WANTS MORE. the last kiss:Edward is on his knees, uncertain, beaten, pleading but also desperate. And Bella says 'come here'. And notice the hands, the hands make the kiss in my opinion. Bella holds Edwards chin, Edward has his hands first on her elbow then on her wrist. She ends the kiss he seems to not be quite done. And also the tone of the conversations.both ordering. parking lot E:'We have to go to class' , bedroom B: 'Once Alice changes me, you wont get rid of me'.
the whole movie surrounded by so many strong male figures ,at the end we see an emancipated Bella.
And then Edward trying to regain control asking THE question.
This sets up Eclipse perfectly cause Eclipse is about equality, or lack thereof, in a relationship.
