I think there were a lot of changes that seemed very odd to us fans (Like Bella riding off with Jacob in front of Edward), I don't think there are any MAJOR changes that have truly affected the movies.

  • Kez_MLIT…team riley ftw :)

just remember deep breaths, in and out!
okays Im going out now but maybe think about sacrificing MR to the twi-gods…it might work to get our true love story!

  • Bree Cullen

“Also, although she constantly texts SM i thought she said it was to find out what other people are thinking/doing at the time, because obviously it doesn't mention it in the books.. not about whether the main stuff is right.”
No I don't think she does ask about the main stuff, but SM has to read and approve these scripts. If she thought that Bella shouldn't have rode off with Jacob in front of Edward, she would have made MR cut it..which brings me back to your other comment, “I personally think that should be what is happening but i think SM has lost her backbone.” Lol. Yes, I think she should stick up for the story a bit more.
But if MR doesn't get told what seems right and what seems wrong, how is she supposed to know? Maybe she doesn't understand the books and the characters' personalities as much as she thinks she does…lol

  • teamcoveredinfeathers

Okay does ignoring MR's video & just watching the other two make me a complete b*tch?

I just can't bring myself to click play!!

  • nomnomnom_rob

I am in no way saying this to offend or argue with anyone so please don't get upset with me…but why do so many people hate MR so much? You are very much entitled to your opinions, and I respect them, but I sincerely do not understand! Is there something specific that happened that I don't know about?

I know the movies could definitely be better and they are nowhere near as good as the books, but isn't that usually the case when someone tries to make a book into a movie? I still absolutely LOVE these movies and I watch them over and over and over again. They could be so much worse and I don't feel like anything has been ruined. At least I feel that nothing in the movies is so bad or disappointing that it would cause me to hate someone with such ferocity!

Also, I don't know much about making movies, but is it fair to blame her for everything that goes wrong in these? Aren't there a lot of decisions made that she has no control over (e.g. editing)?

Anyway, as Jacob and Bella say “I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, I'm honestly curious.” (so please don't hate me!!!)

  • 30yearoldtwifan

In few words.. basically she is a horrible screen writer and writes cheese and adds scenes that make NO sense at times. (like B leaving E at the parking lot and takes off with E) Thats just 1 instance in a hole lot of horrible writing. Her dialogue is horrendous at times. IMO for such a HUGE phenomenon as the Saga is, they need a VERY talented screen writer to bring these books accuracy to screen, and not be made fun of by critics. MR may be good in TV writing, but not for such a complicated and popular series as this. She writes cheese. The E script was armature, I read it, at times it red like it was for 13 year old. The only saving grace for E IS David Slade. He is so talented as a director hopefully the horrible dialogue wont be as noticed this time.

  • jasperismydestiny

I'm not hating you, but yeah, I guess people have….expectations, that are kinda squashed down in the saga's movies. I've been a fan before the movie was even announced and definitely have my own view on the chapters and characters.

I was one of those fans who completely hated the casts given to us.
But look, the casts pull themselves and act better in the next movie, so I've forgiven them for that. On the other hand, MR seems to be getting worse.

I don't know anything about making movies or scripts either but isn't she entitled to use proper, exact quotes from the book? Stephenie Meyer would allow that to happen. Hell, this is after all her 'baby'.

Look, I respect MR's views on things. Yes, she wants Bella to act this way and Edward or Jacob to say this. BUT, this is not a movie made for her and her only! It's a movie made for everyone. I know she can't satisfy everyone's wants (nobody can) but for all I know, the book did. We're all fans because this book satisfy our wants with its' quotes and story. The least MR can do is copy quotes or at least follow the scene properly.

I disagree with the girly make up they use on Edward in Twilight. I really do. It turn a lot of people away from the saga because they don't want to be associated with a girly-looking vampire book. So, in a way, I guess the make-up team can take some part of the blame.

Based on that notorious motorcycle car park scene in Eclipse, I don't think Bella from the book would be so rude towards either Jacob or Edward. That's all MR's quotes by the way. She made the script, she made the quote. And how they act. The whole saga's movies is made for her own personal enjoyment, and look, there have been an interview where she said her fans are very supportive. HER fans. No, not the Twilight fans. Her fans.

Editing and directing isn't really that big of an effect. It just show the sceneries and the character's faces. That is all. Quotes are more important for book-to-movie fan, because we read quotes first.

Sorry if I went on a complete rant here, I respect your opinion, but in my mind, it is fair to blame her.

I agree, that absolutely makes sense. I never understood the st. jude bracelet either.. I think Catherine Hardwicke said she found it at a flea market or something. LOL

Hmmm…. good idea. I think I'll start writing now and save it away for when that time comes. I've already written some really good scenes for BD that people thought couldn't be done PG-13 : )

I loved that st. jude bracelet, because I have one too, I’ve had it for ages, before Twilight even existed, it’s from my parents. So I liked that she had one and thought that maybe someone who cared about her had given it, maybe Renee. I’m so sorry she’s not having it anymore, I still wear mine, even if it’s old and the pictures are almost faded, it means a lot to me.

LOL! And times that by how many sh!tty screenplays she’s written….. *counts on fingers* D’oh! Ran out of fingers. And toes.

I guess the angels are the only ones rooting for both BD scripts to suck. LOL!

  • teamCharlieB=)

ok, while im not so quick as other people to hate on MR, i really do think they could do a lot better in their selection of screenwriters. I mean, they've gotten great directors to direct these movies, why go downhill with the screenwriter.
i mean, idk. i guess its not THAT bad…or at least not always as bad as people make it out to be. but it still could be so much better.
Anyways, I am confident from listening to David Slade that he will deliver these movies to the best of his ability.

  • YummyRobwardowski

THANK YOU!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed Bella being off during the kisses and sometimes she's the one who pulls away first!! WTF? Another Bella book trait out the window.

I guess I'm gonna have to learn to swallow my irritation cause there's nothing I can do about it. *GULP*

  • YummyRobwardowski

    Nope! :D

Don't worry. It's detrimental to the health of your computer b/c you'll want to take a bat to her duck lipped face. Better to leave the computer intact for further Rob viewing.

  • Bellacullen123

And er hur mm but hmm er and er what was i saying oh yer um i was er talking er about something i er know nothing hmm about………This is the bit they left out at the end of the MR interview

  • SC~3rd_Wife(TeamSM)

You make some good points, especially about what is out of her hands. When I watch the dvd special features I can't believe the wonderful scenes that are taken out that are so true to the book, and then look back on the ones left in that were out of place. Also, to this day many people fault her for “hang on tight, spider monkey” when she didn't even write that. CH wrote like five different phrases and let Rob pick the one he liked best. To Rob's credit, it was the best of the crap that was offered him.

I watch a lot of movie to book adaptions, although usually I watch a movie then read the book, so it's a little different. You love the book more, but you don't go back and hate the movie that made you want to read the book in the first place. This was TL for me. I loved the movie, although as I was watching it I thought they kinda fell in love too fast, with very little dialogue in between meeting and professing their love. Of course, I read the book the next day and the rest is history. Anyway, the point I was getting at is most TL fans have no idea how lucky we are. I have seen much worse, horrible adaptions where not just a few favorite scenes were left out, but the entire outcome of the story was changed. We've never had this injustice in the saga.

The one thing I can't forgive MR for is writing scenes and lines that don't make sense:
TL – Carlisle to E – “Remember who you are.” Uh, he's a vampire protecting the human he loves from another sadistic vampire. “The others can take care of James, Bella needs you right now” would have fit much better.
NM – OK, so I don't have much to say about things that don't make sense here, although I hated how rushed the ending was. I know it was for timing, but honestly, another five minutes couldn't hurt. Yeah, yeah – not up to her.
E – Haven't seen it yet, but obviously the big problem everyone has is the parking lot scene. Besides the fact that it is OOC for B to get on the bike with J and leave E standing there, it didn't make sense. One minute J tells B he had nothing to say to her and the next he's grinning when she gets on his bike. It would have made sense if he said something like “Maybe I was wrong, I think we can work out our friendship on my side of the border,” like he did in the book.

I don't hate you, I understand a lot of what you are saying. I think MR could do a better job if she cared about the saga a little more, and she has said in interview that teenage romances don't interest her (hmmm – was that a hint to us), and that's what really pisses fans off. I've heard she's a great writer for Dexter (I haven't seen it) which is also an adaption. She must like writing it, but I don't think she likes writing the TL saga, she just took the job and is loving the money.

  • CF Team Bibimbap-ski

    1. The dialogue in the movies suck.

    2. There are whole parts of the movies that do not make any sense and/or are not from the books.

    3. Things that she said in other interviews in the past about not citing the books purposely when doing the scripts and not listening to fans' feedback.

    4. The motorcycle scene in Eclipse: this is clearly symbolic of her not having the first understanding of the characters' personalites from the books.

    5. She leaves out some of the best dialogue and quotes from the books that she would have probably known were important if she stayed truer to the source material and listened to fans' feedback.

    6. Taylor and Kristen had to fight to have the Mike Newton/Facepunch scene in the NM, that she left out, which is a fan favorite.

    7. Rob and Kristen rewrote the break up scene because she basically effed it up.

    8. The deletion of the blood letting scene in Twilight.

    9. The greenhouse scene in Twilight.

    10. No “I love you.” in Twilight.

I could go on but do you see my point.

  • CF Team Bibimbap-ski

She thinks the entire Twilight audience are nine year olds.

  • Kez_MLIT…team riley ftw :)

I dunno, its weird because their twilight kiss was off the scales hot
and then the leg hitch and meadow kisses also look amazing so im wondering if it was just this one…hmmm.
I dont hate it, especially after watching it a few more times but it wasnt my favourite B&E kiss lets just put it that way… I have faith in kristen and rob!

  • jasperismydestiny

You also forgot the “Edward pretending to attack Bella/Alice thought she was dinner” scene in Twilight. :)

  • jasperismydestiny

More like 7 year olds. Even the 9 year olds readers of Twilight Saga are complaining from those that I know.

  • jasperismydestiny

Obviously Summit has really dumb people as their head directors who never read the Twilight Books and thought, “Wow, we hit it big this time! Then MR must be doing something right, therefore we must keep her.”

  • IdiL-TeamTreeBanger

But thats the thing! I would happily watch the movie with no sound. They know that were gonna watch the movies no matter what. Scummit dont care as long as they make money. The dont care one bit. Companies Wayne Bros and Paramount make sure their movies look good as well as role the money in. Moments like tthese I wish SM gave the rights to someone else :(

  • Eashley

twilight is my favorite movie.mom is gonna take me to see eclipse.

  • teamcoveredinfeathers

Ha ha – Very good point!!
Thanks for saving my laptop from an MR wrath beating. The second she opened her mouth I would have exploded!!

  • YummyRobwardowski

Anytime!! I wouldn't want any of my twisters to miss out on more Rob pix!! ;D Oh the tragedy!!

  • nomnomnom_rob

lol why don't you tell me how you really feel? :P you are totally right about how important it is to have a good screenwriter for such a huge phenomenon. i don't think they knew it was going to be so huge when they made the first movie. i wonder if they would have chosen differently if they had known that? and i also wonder if there is some reason that it would be inappropriate to change screenwriter from one move to the next? after all, it's ok to change directors.

  • aq♥ec~TEAM ME-BANGER!

I think MR has done a fantastic job bringing the magnificence of these books to the screen! I really think she nailed it!……….
PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA! i couldn't even keep at straight face through that bullsh*t!

Kill the b*tch like she's been killing the books and then turning them over to the amazing actors and directors to fix.

on a happier note….I ♥♥♥ Davis Slade! haha

  • jasperismydestiny

Hahaha! I tried saying that sentence and appreciate her, but it doesn't work either.

  • jasperismydestiny

    LMAO!!!!!!

  • nomnomnom_rob

no need to apologize for the “rant”. it helped me understand so i thank you for taking the time to write it! and for not hating me!! :)

when you said “expectations” you made me realize something. i didn't watch the movies when they first came out because i hadn't read the books and i knew i might want to read them one day. (i prefer book first, then movie). i read the books while new moon was still in theaters. immediately after i finished reading new moon (literally, the same day), i bought and watched twilight and then went to see new moon. because i read and watched them so close together, i didn't have time to develop a lot of expectations, and i had never read any reviews, etc. we'll see what happens with eclipse. it is my favorite of the books and i am just dying here waiting to watch it. i have tons of expectations! there are definitely things in the movies that bother me, but maybe i will be able to understand your point of view better after i see eclipse.

on a sidenote that i think is funny: when i watched twilight the first time i was instantly turned off by the opening where he is hunting the deer. i felt so sad and it made me nervous about the rest of the movie! but now i think it is really sexy and i love it!!! that was one addition that i am happy they threw in there.

  • jasperismydestiny

Yeah, true. Didn't she try to get it to someone, but in the end only Summit pick it? Guess the other studios were too “snobbish” and think a vampire movie won't give them money. They miss out on a good amount of $$$. We miss out on one hell of a great saga. :(

  • Hitchy – Mobward made me cry

    AGREE. Wholeheartedly.

Can we please add the omission of the meteor speech in New Moon?

  • CF Team Bibimbap-ski

That's a sore subject for me Hitchy. I don't like talking about it.

    :P

  • nomnomnom_rob

i like that you numbered this. it makes it easier to respond!

    1. I think that *parts* of the dialogue suck. If you think that it pretty much all sucks then it makes sense that you would hate MR more!

    2. Agreed. The part that sticks out in my mind the most is in Twilight, after Edward gets all mad and tells Bella that she doesn't know anything and then gets on the bus all angry-like (btw am i the only one who thinks it must be hard to look cool and angry with the collar popped on your peacoat while you climb into a big yellow school bus? but i digress…). It's the scene in the kitchen with Charlie when she stands at the sink and dumps out her water. What a freakin' waste of time! Nothing happened in that scene! The only good part was the end when Charlie said “Alright.” (love me some Charlie!) All I can think about through the whole scene is how I would like to see blood typing or eating lunch alone in the cafeteria or ANYTHING else with Edward in it.

    3. I didn't know she said that. That's totally bunk! I love the dialogue in the books. Although, I will admit there are some quotes that do not go well from book to movie…and SM did write some corny lines. One book quote that did make it in the movie and shouldn't have: “guess the wolf's outta the bag.” Lucky for me, I enjoy a little bit of corniness every now and then so it didn't bother me too much.

    4. I agree that this is something that would never happen in the book and I was furious at first. I am not pleased with it, but someone else pointed out that it helps us understand how much Edward is really hurting in this whole triangle situation. And I agree with that, too.

    5. No joke! This bothers me, too!!!

    6. That's great that they fought to have the scene! Makes me like them even more. :-) This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie too. The whole thing is funny. I usually don't watch it though because I tend to skip from Edward leaving straight to Edward removing his shirt. ;-) But yes, it would have been dumb to leave that out.

    7. I didn't know that they had to re-do this! I'm glad they did, and I felt they did a great job keeping this close to the book. It's really a beautiful scene. What had MR done to mess it up?

    8. Totally agree. See my #2 above.

    9. Agreed. Where the heck did they get this idea?! They should have stuck with the book here because it really makes no sense at all in the movie. But I would be lying if I said I didn't love the lines “I had an adenaline rush. It's very common. You can Google it” and “Will you at least try to watch where you walk?!”

    10. I DEFINITELY agree with this!!! What the crap?! At least they left in “you are my life now.”

Anyway, yes I see your point. :-) But I still love the movies! I wish they were closer to the books, but at the same time, I almost see them as separate entities. There are Twilight books and there are Twilight movies and I don't try to completely connect them in my mind…if that makes any sense. It makes it a little easier for me to accept changes/differences.

  • WrathChild

But it should be as true to the book as possible. I understand cutting out scenes like where Bella’s washing dishes (that’s all she does, practically, in the books!) But making up scenes with the main characters to make a story “more cinematic” and have the story flow better onscreen is still wrong. For instance, the scene in New Moon where Jacob gives Bella that lame dreamcatcher. Come on, Rosenberg! Its not her novel, and I don’t know how Stephenie Meyer can allow her to do stuff like that. It’s her book, though, but stuff like that just makes me mad when they go changing things to make it more “cinematic”. Bull. Hate Rosenberg.
