I just hope david covered the necessaries before doing these backstories that aren't fr the book, I don't really care that much about the newborns, I live for the main characters. The all important and necessary details fr Edward and Bella are totally MUSTs, and the sub-characters that are important like the wolf gang and rest of cullens. I want the stories on Jasper and Rose. I just wish S. Meyer wrote more on Alice, I so wanted to know more about her past, etc, and in the first movie, it was like cut out, even though, in the end, they could just add some more lines to that, of james telling bella about alice, god, i hated that it was cut off, damn why?!! Then won't it be weird if Alice told Bella about her going off to find more about her past in New Moon, if that was ever included!?!

I must be crazy... but I actually like this idea. I think that if the Preface was the beginning of the movie, then it just flashed backwards to Bella reading Jake's letter, it would confuse ppl who haven't read the book. so before now i've been fine with DS, but now im getting really afraid that the movie will be wayy to dark and way full of action. and that the love stuff is coming second in this movie.
i really couldnt care less about seeing victoria bite riley and now to begin the movie with it..

Alright, so since my post with the Preface of the book didn't REALLY count as one of my weekly excerpts.....seein' as though I was ranting and raving (more or less) on my soap box once again.......I decided to go ahead and have a little more fun b/f I take off & read some more fanfic!! That being said.......THIS ONE'S FOR THE WOLF GIRLS ;-P

A sudden howl ripped through the roar of the wind, and I covered my ears against the noise. Edward scowled. "That was hardly necessary," he muttered. "And that's the worst idea I've ever heard," he called more loudly.
"Better than anything you've come up with," Jacob answered, his human voice startling me. "Go fetch a space heater," he grumbled. "I'm not a St. Bernard."
I heard the sound of the zipper around the tent door pulled swiftly down.......................................
"I don't like this," Edward hissed as Jake zipped the tent door shut. "Just give her the coat and get out."
My eyes were adjusted enough to see shapes--Jacob was carrying the parka that had been hanging on a tree next to the tent. I tried to ask what they were talking about, but all that came out of my mouth was, "W-w-w-w-w-w," as the shivering made me stutter uncontrollably.
"The parka's for tomorrow--she's too cold to warm it up by herself. It's frozen." He dropped it by the door. "You said she needed a space heater, and here I am. Jacob held his arms as wide as the tent allowed. As usual, when he'd been running around as a wolf, he'd only thrown on the bare essentials-- just a pair of sweats, no shirt, no shoes.
"J-J-J-J-Jake, you'll f-f-f-freez-z-ze," I tried to complain.
"Not me," he said cheerfully. "I run at a toasty one-oh-eight point nine these days. I'll haveyou sweating in no time." Edward snarled, but Jacob didn't even look at him. Instead, he crawled to my side and started unzipping the sleeping bag. Edward's had was suddenly hard on his shoulder, restraining, now white against the dark skin. Jacob's jaw clenched, his nostrils flaring, his body recoiling from the cold touch. The long muscles in his arms flexed automatically.
"Get your hands off me," he growled through his teeth.
"Keep your hands off her," Edward answered blackly.
"D-d-d-don't f-f-f-f-fight," I pleaded. Another tremor rocked through me. It felt like my teeth were going to shatter, they were slammimg together so hard.
"I'm sure she'll thank you for this when her toes turn black and drop off," Jacob snapped.
Edward hesitated, then his hand fel away and he slid back to his position in the corner. His voice was flat and frightening. "Watch yourself." Jacob chuckled.
"Scoot over, Bella," he said, zipping the sleeping bag farther. I stared at him in outrage. No wonder Edward was reacting this way. "N-n-n-n-n," I tried to protest. "Don't be stupid," he said, exasperated. "Don't you LIKE having ten toes?" He crammed his body into the nonexistant space, forcing the zipper up behind himself.
And then I couldn't object--I didn't want to anymore. He was so warm. His arms constricted around me, holding me snugly againsthis bare chest. The heat was irresistible, like air after being underwater for too long. He cringed when I pressed my icy fingers eagerly against his skin.
"Jeez, you're freezing, Bella," he complained. "S-s-s-s-sorry," I stuttered.
"Try to relax," he suggested as another shiver rippled through me violently. "You'll be warm in a minute. Of course, you'd warm up faster if you took your clothes off." Edward growled sharply.
"That's just a simple fact," Jacob defended himself. "Survival one-oh-one."
"C-c-cut it out, Jake," I said angrily, though my body refused to even try to pull away from him. "N-n-n-nobody really n-n-n-n-needs all ten t-t-t-toes."
"Don't worry about the bloodsucker," Jacob suggested, and his tone was smug. "He's just jealous."
"Of course I am." Edwards voice was velvet again, under control, a musical murmur in the darkness. "You don't have the faintest idea how much I wish I could do what you're doing for her, mongrel."

WHEW! that was a long one! (but it's a long scene, so I'll pick one for us vamp girls later) Oh, yeah and........PUT. THE. TENT. SCENE. IN. THE. MOVIE.

But weirdly enough, I can see the scene playing in my head (well I didn't watch the video, ok?).
I see Riley getting bitten by Vicky and he passes out I guess from the attack.. And then fade to black... we see Bella reading Jacob's letter or something. And then the rest...

But honestly, that's the last scene I want to be as the opening scene.

I think this scene will be a similar length to the deer teaser in Twilight: it won't be that long (along with most of these scenes where Victoria is featured), and will set the "dark" tone that everyone's been claiming Eclipse has.

I really don't think adding these scenes will be an issue. As I said to big_combat elsewhere in this post, the problem will instead be the effectiveness of these additions. MR did a real crummy job fleshing out characters that Stephenie didn't flesh out herself in Twilight and I'm afraid she might be just as ineffective in Eclipse.

I "liked" your comment so much that I gave you a like! I really wish that silly excuse for a screenwriter would get it straight... WE LIKE THE WAY THE BOOKS ARE WRITTEN. Period.

I understand about editing for length and needing to re-work things so the whole story gets told. However, to simply edit what she took out of the meadow and the ballet studio in Twilight and remove the blood typing (my three favourite scenes) and then add crap (there is no other sufficient word) like a biology field trip, trips to the diner (SO not what Bella's character would have done for/with Charlie), Bella leaving Pheonix in the beginning, "bad" vampire hunting trips, ugh... need I go on. We don't need to SEE these to be aware of them. Have Bella narrate this stuff while we look at something that actually DID happen in the book.

Please MR, with all due respect, no one wants to see your version of Riley being transformed in lieu of scenes beautifully written by our beloved SM. She did all the hard work for you with these beautiful books. Now, do the right thing and stop messing with them! Re-touch a little here and there, and then sit back and enjoy the fame that would come from "your" brilliance.

I meant that I prefer to see things in the story that were actually written into the book... and that I would like to see those things over and above any other additions MR might have made. Xavier did some great acting there.... it's just not what I want to pay my $10 to see.

Thanks! I'm pretty passionate about my (oops I mean Stephanie's) books! I'm really passionate about Eclipse because it's my favourite one. I swear though, I can't be held responsible for my reactions if MR devotes precious movie minutes to this kind of stuff and then short changes us on the important stuff like hitching of legs, tent action, and Bella begging to hop on the good foot and do the bad thing!

i'm really worry about eclipse as much as everyone else, but i keep thinking that should we fully trust lainey for saying that this is will be the opening scene? i just doubt it.

i started to worry about everything in eclipse since Rob mentioned it at comic con. all of eclipse set pict and vid that already come out keep me worry that we will have an action movies with big portion of newborn vamp things and big fight instead of the edward/bella/jacob relationship, but i keep force my self to trust DS for making eclipse as great as we want.

Oh, I'm not all that worried about it. I'm thinkin' DS will definitely take care of things. I think he understands the fans soooo much more than the dumba** writer, I mean....HE TWEETS!! He' keeping us up to speed moreso than any director so far. No worries, girlie. Honestly you cant go by what Lainey a gossip columnist says is going to be in the beginning if Eclipse. Who is she? and Im sure as professionals DS and his team know what there doing, we honestly cant tell by some pap pics and a video how there doing the entro.. if it even is.

so true but she hasn't been wrong at other times i hear. i do like this beginning tho. movie wise, and for non-fans or non-readers it would really "reel them in" and make them stay and watch the whole movie. my problem is the recasting of victoria (i typed in rachelle at first. cos to me she IS victoria and vice versa. lol). i dont think i can ever shake that off. we'll see.

i dont think they'd put more riley and victoria in. i dont think DS would allow that. i hope not but this is good enough. what i would do is keep this scene in for the beginning then go to bella/jacob writing notes. or charlie reading the newspaper about these attacks in seattle. and then not show riley's face until closer to the end of the movie, to start the battle. or something like that. lol.

No, you're right, definitely! We can't tell. I'm hoping that it's not and with most of my comments, I try to be sarcastically dramatic and add some humor. I've said since almost the beginning when they announced that DS would direct it (I was worried at first but got over that pretty quick) that I thought he'd be awesome and I loved "30 Days of Night". I think he will make it amazing and I can't wait to see it. MR's comments are usually the ones that send me to orbit and make me spew emotional vomit on here! LOL! Yep .. the cast is definitely what saved her tail. Her direction and eye for detail is just awful.

The opening scene thing .. I could see how it would work because I could see them setting up the plot of the storyline that way. As long as it doesn't take up a big chunk of the film, cuz they have a lot of ground to cover. I can see them reeling in the crowd with an opening sequence like that.

I am not too picky, as long as they have all of our favorite scenes from the book in there. I am cool with making it more visual and action packed for the movie screen.

I am going to try to reserve judgment until I see a teaser trailer. I was harsh on CW when he first got the job, cuz The Golden Compass was awful. But I have had to seriously eat my words ont hat one. haha

i saw the golden compass. thought it was great, visually i mean. the same team helping him now with the FX and stuff for NM was with him on golden compass and the company won an oscar for that movie! cos of the fx.

it was visually beautiful and delicious to me. thats why i had no doubt my fave book NM was gonna be amazing and i have a lot of faith in him. and i was right. :) the reason why it GC sucked at the box office and CW has explained it many times was b/c the studio he worked with took out a lot of stuff and made many changes to his ideas and he was so pissed off. he mentioned it at comicon too with discussion panel of the cast. it made him bitter cos he worked on it so hard for 2 yrs, it was his baby and his dream project but he said Summit and new moon have redeemed him in away and reminded him that working for a studio, and with such a cast, and doing this film, has reminded him it can be fun and rewarding. :)

Ok, let me back peddle a little. I thought the movie as a whole was terrible, as far as it being pieced together. Visually, it was gorgeous, so I did get excited about that aspect of CW creativity. But yeah, I knew that about how the studio screwed CW over. But it seems that Summit let him have creative freedom with NM, which is great to know. I think we will all be very happy.

Yah, I mean.......plain & simple, stay as close to the book as possible.....can't really go wrong with that. Based on what I've seen & read, seems that CW figured that out pretty quick!
The cast was really the one thing that made the movie what it was. Sadly, they had no direction, you're right and now, I feel bad for criticizing Kristen's performance b/c I know she's a better actor thn that......especially after teh NM trailers. CH needed to bring the emotion from Bella and the humor and candor from Edward and she effed it up. I think out of all the scenes, the meadow scene and the fight scene (after Belle get's bitten) piss me off the most. grrrr LOL

B/c of the changes made by CW in nm, its going to be totally better than twi, its prob going to be like his baby, MR was just a pawn.... hopefully DS will just use her screenplay in the same way....

i have no idea if DS is going to pull any CW's (like this crap should be in here, and what the hell is this, and cut this out, like he did w/ MR's screenplay.)... he'll have to do alot of it, i think.....

.... In honesty, she is ok, but not great, I def do not think she should have wrote the screenplay's for this series... she's just too not right... I honestly saw some grunge, band/sci-fi shirt, sweat suit wearing, imagination beyond comprehension, just totally in love w/ the books screenplay writer for this....

... If I write a fan fic, thats what I'm going to do, just re write the twilight screenplay.. ah... so many things i want to do in life, so much time i do not have to do them in.....

if I had time, I'd be so into it.. but alas, keep ur fingers crossed, perhaps one day I may surpirse many...

lol I gave myself (a slow reader and post laser eye surgery) a week to read twilight. I didn't think I could do it. I was a week less an hour reading all the books! I read till my eyes burned, read in the drive through line, at ever break I could at work. when I wasn't reading I was talking about it! My friend wanted to stage an intervention! yes I'm obsessed but I'm not the only one; I got a whole family of TwiObsessed here and none of us want the movies F 'ed up! If only they would listen to our pleas

Well, I don't mind if DS adds some Riley's extra scenes or not. I really don't. As long as he keeps the E/B love scenes such as the leg hitch, the proposal, the best nights top ten, etccc, i'm okay with the Riley stuff. I confess I was a little bit "scared" when it was said this Eclipse is going to be darker. However, he knows what us fans wanna watch: romance, leg hitch, kiss scenes, romance, Edward and so then the fight.

DS probably is like under a lot of pression. It should be hard to please so many Twilight Fans like us. It should be difficult to manage such a great film and a even more greater saga. So, let's not jump to conclusion.

Besides this film gotta last more than 2h02m long, I suppose. The more Eclipse, the best.

I am not enthusiastic at all.

I know I must be the only one, but from what I've seen so far, Eclipse movie is focused on Jake and Bella, on Riley and Victoria, and I don't know, but it's not what I imagined. I mean, I know you can't always focus on Edward and Bella's love, but either DS keeps us from knowing too much about their scenes, or either he's totally Team Jacob and Team Victoria.

I know the book is focused on Victoria's army, but it is also focused on Edward and Bella's compromises, love. I don't know if you see what I mean, but they always say DS makes the movie darker than the book, but it seems to me that it's not always dark.

Plus, we don't know that much about Riley and Victoria's relationship. So, I think that if the movie focuses especially on them, and on everything they plan, it will change the atmosphere of the book, that is, in my opinion, focused on Bella's feelings and Edward/Jacob "fight" .

And I would be particularly annoyed if I saw that Edward was just a mere, second character, not really present.

Well, let's hope it's just an impression, and that the movie will be as good as New Moon seems to be.

Well, it's a long story. But bottom line, I have jumped to conclusions in the past on CW and DS. As we can all see, CW has done a fabulous job. And I have faith in DS. I think that he will be great too.

Twilight was truly awful in so many ways other than the best cast on the planet and the chemistry between Robsten.

Plus, I have faith in my actors that they know these books from front to back and will not let MR or DS screw it up.

I agree...I have my reservations about DS and the things we've been shown from the filming of Eclipse but I have to remind myself that they are in a unique situation here. They are trying to interest the "average" fan of the series with not just one movie but TWO at the same time. These fans have probably read all the books several times and can actually quote lines from it word for word.

They are most likely looking for things unique to each movie to differentuate them from each other. I'm hoping that they are saving the Bella/Edward moments to keep us in suspense for now while bringing our interest up in Victoria/Riley and their part of the story.

history u know how they feel about one another and it's just the 3
main characters but their families and how everyone is willing to
scarfice for love and loyality....it's more realstic than the previous
2 it's as though u strip away the supernatural world and these
characters are raw and vulnerable, fearful not just for bella's life
but love from all 3 and u see Bella struggle u finally see her admit
she loves someone else and she needs to make a decision to grow up.
It's just raw realstic I think that's what gets me.

I think Edward can be pretty annoying when he's trying to protect you, but as I can't stand Jake who is as unbearable sometimes when he's like "you love me, you love me, you love me".. it's like a disc that won't turn off you know.. I seriously see what you mean, as I am also independant, but I think that Jake can be very annoying when he wants.
But as you liked Edward better, I liked Jake more in the third part of BD.. so well ^^'

Jake and I know some ppl see him as trying to push himself onto Bella

one and I think he just wanted her to admit she had feelings that she
loved him clearly not as much as she did Edward but he wouldn't her to
stop denying her feelings and once she made his decision he would let

But I do agree with you cause, seriously, I felt really bad for Edward when he came back in the tent, and then he learned through the wolf packs' minds what happened, and he just apologized for what he did before, when he left here. He seems so powerless, and it's even more awful bc I'm sure, in a way, that Bella kissed Jake because she craved it and that she actually enjoyed it ...I sincerely got mad with my book in this passage. x)

Oh and I really hope that Eclipse will be over 2 hours. I don't understand them, they are persistant to make these movies 2 hours.
Eclipse should be at least 130-135 minutes.
I mentioned this earlier but I'm also glad that BD probably will not filmed in Vancouver...they need new, fresh place to go....paps and fans already know every spot in Vancouver where the cast goes out. At least they'll be safe in different town.
And it will be good because it will be far away from Laimey and her paps.

But we have seen it. We have seen what MR can do. Sure, it was tainted by the one who shall not be named but it was still MR's script in the end.

Xavier would be interesting if not for the fact that MR is NO BETTER at introducing characters. See: Waylon, Tay- I mean, Jacob's (GRRRR!!!!) friends at La Push (Sam- I'm guessing- and who exactly?), Laurent, James, Victoria, and even Jasper. Just about all of them were throw-away characters that didn't really add a flavor to the film.

If your analysis is correct, and Xavier was hired because MR intended to compare his relationship with Victoria to Edward's and Bella's, that would be great. I could see that as a possibility. But, from what we've seen MR do, she'll use him as a flat character with nothing to add except for some suspense, terror, and semi-pity over Victoria's machinations.

I do hope you are right, however.

I really blame the one who shall not be named. You see MR made it clear that she likes to write the screenplay with the director. Ca...ups the unnameable didnt nail it. The unnameable also downplayed Kristens acting skills. I never understood how important a good director is until I saw what Chris Weitz made (based on the snippets) comparing to the bat-sh*t lady. Slade is a good director, that wont make something that is flat.

I totally agree, see that is one the beefs I had with BD, even though I loved the book, I didn't like how Jake stole Edward's moment to be with his daugther, he created this person, he made this person, I mean all his vampire existence, he only thought he gave death and here he created life. I wondered what the hoopla was over Kristen after watching Twilight and felt utterly betrayed. It seems like the one who shall not be named told the actors to read the script and just read the lines back however they wanted to read them without ANY DIRECTION! She'd just play quasi-professional editor, considering some technical aspects like blue-tinted lenses. I did see Into The Wild, though, and wasn't overly-impressed anyway. But the one who shall not really f'ed her up.

She gave Into the Wild a sweet note and I honestly cant think how the role could be played differently.Still Into the Wild is overrated. Sean Penn is overrated. Emile is bad, I mean bad,bad.

the Best that Kristen has done was Adventureland and The Cake Eaters amd if you want to see a sweet role of Kristen watch a short movie called Cutlass directed by Kate Hudson on youtube. Kristen was fcuked up in Twilight, but think Rob was fcuked up too. The dialog is bad. The settings are bad, the editing is bad. They pretty much done everything spontaniously in a hectic, stressfull way.
But good times will come in 41 days.

I think you come across better than I do with my opinion on CH. Everybody wants to FEEL for her because she had a low budget. Screw that!!! The direction was AWFUL.

I consider myself a movie critic of sorts because I love watching movies in all different genres and grades and the direction in Twilight was some of the worst I have ever seen. First of all, WTF was up with the meadow slash "I know who you are" scene. Was she drunk or tripping on acid? Keep the damn camera still for crying out loud.

The material was there, the perfect cast was there. Sprinkle in some creativity and at the very least, mediocre direction and you have a decent film.

Twilight for me is a cult hit. I still enjoy watching because I love the cast, the storyline and Robsten. But other than that, I cringe at some many scenes.

And thanks for telling me about Cutlass, I will have to check that one out. Still waiting for The Yellow Handkerchief to come out on DVD.

Hey C-911 This is what I want from Breaking Dawn the movie, Edward bonding with his daughter, nothing can be cuter than seeing Rob playing the role of "daddy".

It will be cute momemt if they have instead of Renesme sleeping in her crib, she sleeps between her mom and dad.

That will be cute to see. I think I am more intrigued about BD being brought to screen then any of the other films, so it will definitely be interesting to see what MR and whoever the director is does with it.

Another major reason why I am looking forward to Remember Me. To see Rob and the little girl playing his little sister having their scenes together. Should be adorable.

I don't get some people distaste for Breaking Dawn, to me it was the perfect ending, too me it wasn't too happy because Bella's journey began in Twilight, all she gave up, all the crap she endored in New Moon and the dangers she faced and the choices she had to make in Eclipse, all wind down to Breaking Dawn.

Now why are some people upset that Edward and Bella had a baby? I think the majority (yes because the minority are the pain in the a$$es here) are thrilled that they had a baby, a symbol of their love, granted it was a bit extreme, and I knew why SM did what she had to do, and yes the imprinting bit throw me off at first but, I'm not so bothered my it.

Jacob accepted his role as Alpha, he finally stood up to what was right. We got to know more about the Clearwaters, hopefully Leah, gets her own book, she deserves her happiness, the vampire world seemed to have had enough of the Volturi.

And we may be getting new players in the form of the half human/half vampire clan.

I really would like if people stop calling Reneseme a mutant, is that what you call people who are different? who have a form of birth defect? would you call them a mutant. See SM maybe wrote this saga as a test even Bella said herself, being a different isn't a crime, so maybe you who call this kid a freak, should look inside yourself and ask, who are you to judge.

Like I have said before as long as they don't use another Waylon, I don't care, Riley is in the book, and he is also one of Victoria's victims, he had a life and she killed him. So I can see where DS is going with this, you want to cry for Riley and how Edward tried to save him. I think it's pure genius.

Twilight is a guilty pleasure. I have to set the record straight first I saw the movie then read the books. so something must have been done right after all.
BD...its such a delicate topic... the mutant seems just the clue to simultaneously fcuk everything up and make everyone happy... Kristen said something along the lines that everything is so heightened in the saga... she was right. Edward didnt just get her preggers- he knocked her down in the process of knocking her up, and she had the worst pregnancy ever.... what I found bad whas that Jacob imprinted on renesmee.... that was a wtf moment.

The problem with BD is that there were too many anticlimactic moments. Both Renesmee and the Volturi, had the same effect: all the focus, all the suspense building, all the terror and dread arising from their impending arrival.
Yet, when they do arrive, it's sheer boredom to the point of irritation.

Nessie/The Volturi are the equivalent of really bad sex with a guy you were crushing on for two years.

Or like being the biggest Beatle fan, having never seen any live shows, winning front-row tickets AND backstage passes AND VIP tickets to an after show for Paul McCartney's final concert EVER, arriving at the arena, and learning that REO Speedwagon were going to sing their biggest hits instead.

I think another problem with BD is that it doesn't have the same tight literary structure that the previous three had. There's no literary reason Stephenie shifted views to Jacob, as far as I can tell. She just did it because she wanted to and she likes Jacob. She also said in interviews that the other reason why she did it was because Bella would be dormant, on the Cullen couch while MFS infested her womb, and thus, away from all the action surrounding her. Well, that didn't stop her from keeping Bella's perspective when she and Edward went to Florida in Eclipse while the Cullens and the wolf-pack attempted to catch Victoria. Why didn't she shift to Jacob's perspective then?

Eclipse's structure, on the other hand, and NM as well, are so tightly wound, one decision, one action, one minute sets a whole set of occurrences into motion. I don't get that with BD at all. For example, Nessie's power didn't accentuate the Cullens, nor did it stem from anything like Bellward's love or signify anything but that brat's selfishness. Her existence should not have been the only catalyst to the rest of BD.

loved the Beatles annalogy. but on the other hand Stephenie did direct the plot through the first 3 books so that everything would be smooth sailing after Bella was changed and as a conclusion of this it seems that introducing a thing/character that is controversial and totally not considered during the whole time of Bellas and Edwards struggles seemed to be the only way to write BD. so it wasnt a bad thing for Bella and Edward to breed a child but it was a bad thing for SM to built the anticipation and at the peak point to do, as you said, something anticlimatic.she left too many loose ends and put characters in the plot that could be used differently, but at the end... in the movie they could make something happen to Alistar or Amun... the battle ...yeah the battle remids me of school when words where passed that X's gonna take Y down, the whole students body comes for a show...and... yeah and theres a moment where literaly sweat drops from your forehead and X tells Y that he didnt steal his lunchbox ,Y forgot it...

if we dont get a fight, save it with visualising the special powers. that movie will have so many CGI...

Exactly! Some newly introduced character should've been either injured or slain. The final battle seemed like a dream and that should not have been the case. It should've been the battle to end all battles, even if there was no bloodshed. It simply wasn't raw enough to end the saga.

My whole problem with the Volturi is that they never scared the ish outta me. Now, I've discussed with people in the past who've said that they were never intended to be the villains. I understand that opinion. But when you spend the entire third half of the book focused on protecting Renesmee's life from the "big bad" Volturi when the Volturi are neither big nor bad, then why should I, the reader, be afraid for her life? We all knew that Stephenie won't kill her, or any of the major characters, but all that preparation--building a veritable army, Alice going to SA for Nahuel for Christ's sakes-- for some X/Y schoolyard chat was like Stephenie pulling a rug from beneath us.

I honestly think that Eclipse should've been the last book. Defeating Victoria/ unhinging the E/B/J triangle/Bella reaching adulthood and becoming a part of the Cullen clan these were all overarching themes in the first three books, Eclipse tying them up nicely. I suppose Jacob was the only character who didn't have a happy ending but such is life sometimes and I wouldn't've been upset if he ran away from his tribe for eternal solitude.

BD introduced a whole other realm of themes and I think it should've been the first of a whole other series really broken down and thought through. You can't introduce this other world of vampires and just leave it at that.

And I can't believe Stephenie had it in mind while writing NM, that Jacob would imprint on Renesmee?!?!? WTF! Quil is not warning enough. NOTHING IS WARNING ENOUGH.

I loved the whole series, but you're right. The ending of BD was disappointing...I mean there was like a 250 page build up to the "NON FIGHT". I hope if they make the movie, they put a real fight in there and for emotional-sake I hope someone dies. Like LEAH or even Charlie....(I love thier characters so it would be epic). Imagine if Charlie got wind of something happening and tried to help...having no idea what he was getting into. How epic would that be? That once Bella gets close to her dad, he is taken from her? That would finally be a sacrifice for all the good things that happened perfectly for Bella. Besides her heartache in New Moon...that girl got everything she wanted. She got Edward, she got to stay friends with Jacob. She didn't have normal "newborn" complications...so she got to keep her family. She got turned, and she was able to have a baby which she would have had to given up the idea of. So I think a little sacrifice on her part would have made the series more solid in BD.

hmmm... well yeah.. i guess u have a point there. we ALL know what will happen to the trio eventually and yeah. it is cool to have a new introduction to the movie. i just think that if they put so much about the newborns on the movie, that there will be less screen time for the trio, making it into a fast-phased one. u know what i mean? like in twilight. im not saying that i'd want more screen time for the actors, i just think that the love triangle is the much more important part in eclpise rather than the fight. but yeah.. i guess this will be an interesting addition to the movie. cant wait to see how from this introduction would lead them to the whole story. cant wait! ^_^

i was kinda the same way at first, like why are they putting all this extra random stuff in, but now i think i really like it! b/c if you think about it, as the book translates to movie, they can't just have the characters talk about what has happened. it makes sense for it to be that way in the book b/c words have to create the images (and it's BPOV; she doesn't know alot of the dangers), whereas on screen, visuals have to portray the words. so in that sense, i think they kind of have to do they riley, victoria scenes visually.

plus, being from bella's point of view, none of this stuff is known really until the very end of the book, but that doesn't mean that "it didn't happen." because really it technically did (victoria turning riley, etc), we just didn't get to experience it through bella b/c SHE didn't see any of it happen.

and i'm sure these movie makers have been around the block a few times, and they probably have a feel for how storylines need to be introduced/intertwined together to make the movie flow, and so you're not just hit with all this conflict at the end, where you have no idea where it came from (so obviously it has to be kind of explained/introduced throughout the film).

i have no doubt that the love triangle will get plenty of screentime- helloo, summit knows who their money-makers are ;-) plus that really is the main bulk of the book. but i definitely am liking the direction this movie is taking with showing the newborns and all the other stuff we didn't get to experience first-hand in eclipse. i think in the end, it will make it a much better movie and it will make more sense. plus, it will just be nice to see some fresh twilight-ness that we haven't already memorized and analyzed haha :-)

I'm glad we are getting more stuff too, and to me it's about Edward and Bella. Because the joke is there was never really a triangle. Sure Bella felt something for Jake, but her world was Edward, and the one thing about the trio I dislike, it's like Bella is a piece of meat, and that is why I refuse to see this saga of a love triangle, it's a love story period. The trials that both Bella and Edward have to go through for their happy ending, Jake just came along for the ride.
