Eclipse eclipse6 280x421 Next Movie: Director David Slade Says Twilight Wedding Almost Came Early eclipse david slade breaking dawn Next Movie.com has an exclusive interview with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade.   David Slade discussed that THE wedding almost made it into Eclipse

Any Twi-Hard knows that Bella Swan’s extravagant wedding to her handsome vampire suitor occurs in the beginning of series closer “Breaking Dawn” — chapter three, to be exact.

But according to David Slade, the director of the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” adaptation, it might have come a little earlier on the big screen.

“We discussed a lot of the things at the script-writing stage — at one point, we were even going to shoot the wedding at the end of ["Eclipse"] but we knew there was another film coming,” Slade tells NextMovie exclusively.

“We knew that a lot of that could go into the next film.  And we just made the most concise version of this story that we could.”

Stayed tuned for more of our interview with Slade, in which he predicts the next “Twilight” — and explains the magic behind Meyer’s creation.

OMG!  I can see how Eclipse could have ended with the wedding.  I’m so impatient that I would love to have seen the wedding in Eclipse now!  LOL!  BUT, I am happy the wedding didn’t make it even though I have to wait almost a year!

What do you all think?

If they would have filmed that then they would have taken so much more out of eclipse!

    That’s true.

Oh Thank the Lord it wasnt put in Eclipse because it would’ve been a rushed wedding. Like things werent rushed enough in Eclipse..
If they added a wedding, it would’ve been a cut to the chase type thing.
There would be no wedding preparations by Alice, or fittings, and the ceremony will be short. So I’m happy they waited until Breaking Dawn to film it (where it belongs) because now we will have more than enough space for the wedding. Things won’t be rushed, and now there is room for beauty and perfection.

    Whew..

i am glad its w/ breaking dawn stay true to the books

  • OMFG_Leg_f’n_HITCH

I know rite! If we gotten rite to the part ofthe wedding it would actually mess up sort of the story plot and mostly the entire series in my head. YAY so more of Edward not getting to see Bella in her wedding dress while her and Alice are trying on the dress!!! YESSS!!

  • Monique/booksaddicted

Oh thank God… the wedding didn’t happen in Eclipse which it didn’t in the books… and IMHO David Slade do not have the sensitivity to film Bella/Edward romantic wedding… I could be wrong and I am reading Bill Condon wrong… but he seems to have that kind of sensitivity to do romance well.

  • KStewGirlCrush

I agree it would have been awesome to see the wedding already but only if it was not rushed. Since it’s such a memorable part of breaking dawn, and since they are cutting the book into 2 parts, we will most likely get the wedding we want. Also, this is one of the biggies of the last book so would really steal bd’s thunder if it came early. The first half of bd was all about the big payoff for me…finally seeing Bella and Edward have some peace and happiness after 3 books of torment!

  • I<3waterfalls

ok im soo happy they kept the wedding in BD – it would have been rushed and they would have left alot out – soo im happy about that

So glad they didn’t do the Wedding in Eclipse because it would have been all wrong if trying to stay true to the books, but then again, movies are known to be different than the books, but still not right though!

  • Anonymous

i’m sooo glad they waited! i want the wedding to be detailed, and i was it to take up some time. i do not want anything rushed! if they did the wedding in eclipse i feel like it would have been too quick! patience people! haha… although i’m dying to see edward in a tux, and bella walk down the aisle, i want it to be perfect.

just got my dvd and i love to extra’s so much is put on there David you were amazing

  • erin

i for one am happy that they did not shoot the wedding and put it in the eclipse movie. because that wedding is part of the breaking dawn story. Not the eclipse story, i think it might have messed up the story

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/LHouse1991 tpec1991 SaveaHORSE/RideaVAMP!

this could have been SO WRONG!!

1.- Because if they cut the WINDOW scene because of time imagine ALL the other scenes they would have cut off too??

2.- Because the wedding is SO IMPORTANT in the series that it has to be shown completely and not in a rush!!

3.- there wouldn’t have been enough stuff for BD part1 and they would have made JUST 1 BD movie

    and

4.- IT’S JUST NOT HOW THE STORY WAS WRITTEN!!! you can’t pass from the love triangle and realizing you love jacob too (but not as much as edward) to a wedding in the same movie!! it would be too fast!! and for people who didn’t read the book won’t make sense!!

  • RileysGirl_C’monAussies!!

i actually think i could have seen the series finish with eclipse (thats the book) only it would have needed to be a bit longer. but i guess then we wouldnt see jacob happy or vamp!bella or this volturi issue solved. but still, even though forever dawn was her original sequel, i really think i could have seen it finish with the third book *shrugs* at least this way we got MORE twilight and MORE rob/kristen and MORE vamp sex ;)

  • “MY LOVE”-Rob/Edward~TeamV/W

I don’t think DS was serious about the wedding part. How could they shoot wedding part in Eclipse if all the movies are based on the books?! Thanks God, they didn’t do this. Imagine what would happen. Everything in the movie would be either in rush or they would cut a lot of IMPORTANT scenes. No, i think that he was just kidding.

    I think so too ;)

you got it? how? that’s unfair!! ;( I thought that it releases on Friday ;(

  • EAD_TwistAArmpitHair

I think if MR had her way, Bree would have survived and served as the friggin flower girl. Okay, maybe that’s a bit exaggerated… NOT!

  • EAD_TwistAArmpitHair

Isn’t it bad enough we didn’t see a single tear from Bella after her last scene with Jake? NOT ONE TEAR! lol That still makes me crazy that she didn’t break down like she did in the book. What was the whole point of the “triangle” that the movies were promoting? Anyway…. I must let it go. Let it go. *deep breath*

Don’t scream me but SM mentioned that in one of her interview (not about MR) but about Bree.

  • Anonymous

    Now don’t scream at me!

I think that Eclipse ended the way it should and Breaking Dawn will open the way it should hopefully with Bella in her before car. I really think Bill Condon will do his best to bring this movie to its full potential.

However, we do have to keep in mind that there are other people over MR, SM, and BC who control the power to be and know matter what there will always be someone, somewhere who will not like Breaking Dawn 1&2 no matter what way it comes out. They will find fault and critize it.

In my book after seeing and reading and listening to DS interview he did what he could and really tried to give us fans what he wanted, he knew exactly because of the fans like us and all the wonderful web sites.

Also, he never mentioned in the interview above anything about a wedding so I think and agree that it was speculation or a rumor to say the least. :) )

  • EAD_TwistAArmpitHair

Remain calm. Remain calm. lol Bree had to go… it can’t be all sparkling vamps and happy endings. lol She had to show everyone that there are vampire laws and that there are consequences from the rulemakers. I felt bad for Bree for a moment…. just a moment! Reading her story didn’t make me feel anything more for her. As JK Rowling says, “This is wear. People die in war” SM likes happy endings, but I’m glad there was a few sacrifices here and there, at least.

  • 30yearoldtwifan

There would have been a Twi breakdown if they EVER did that to us. Can you imagine??? GOD, why cant they just stick to the books. I would have been DONE, stick me with a fork done, if a wedding was in Eclipse..ugh The ending was bad enough with Bella’s little speech, and for SM to approve that and act that all was so GREAT with that scene. IMO she has lost her passion for this series.

  • Thewolfgirl2010

Hmmm. Really. Thats interesting. i never knew it like that. Originally before New Moon was confirmed and way before
Breaking Dawn was suggested as a two part film they originally wanted to film eclipse and have the wedding at the end. But they were smart enough to stick to the book, and i dont think there would have been any time to add the wedding because of time constraints and it would also have been financially dificult to do so. And besides Eclipse was about keeping Edward and Bellas relationship stable and strong and all the battle that has been going on, Breaking Dawn is when they finally get married. Its that simple.

  • Thewolfgirl2010

It is true that Screenwriter, Director and Producers are not the only ones who make the decisions they are just the top leaders, That is why they have a production team because everyone is partcipating and giving their input on how they want the film to go. Its all in their imagination sometimes they improvise and do not always go by the book i mean isnt that why David had his own ideas and made his decision to stay true to the book by not just abiding by the script. That what directors do they make imprvise and direct their actors. Thats it, and for that i am eagerly anxious to see the behind the scenes.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/LHouse1991 tpec1991 SaveaHORSE/RideaVAMP!

actually I don’t remember her crying for eddie either on new moon (Movie)… just acting like a zombie and all depressed…. I guess movie Bella is not a crier???

  • EAD_TwistAArmpitHair

lol Movie Bella is definitely not.

  • kerbear585

i would have loved to have seen the wedding early BUT i am glad they waited and SM would NEVER have let it come out in eclipse, unless they knew there was DEFINITELY not going to be another one. and see, even when eclipse was shooting they knew BD was going to be filmed!! they held out on us.

  • kerbear585

    i am jealous.

are there more deleted and extended scenes than we got the on the clip on here?

  • newborneyes

I am happy they didn´t eclipse has enough for an entire movie they didn´t need to add some of the best part of BD on eclipse

  • newborneyes

I think that too SM has lost her passion for the series I can´t understand how can she be so agree with so many things that were never in the book
