Nikki Reed who plays the bitter vampire Rosalie Hale takes us into the life of being a Cullen sibling and an actress for a movie that has demanding roles and sometimes not so nice weather conditions.

“I had always been excited about making it to this film, obviously.” says Reed. “Just for the sake of finally being able to justify Rosalie’s behaviour. I’ve carried that responsibility with me, making sure that people get where she’s coming from.”

The scenes, filmed around old West End buildings and the Hotel Vancouver, required hours in the hair and makeup chair to recreate Rosalie’s elaborate period look.

“That’s the process of moviemaking,” she says. “I also trained for seven weeks and didn’t end up in the battle sequences — that’s a very silly mistake that we made.”

A glitch in the lighting of her action scenes meant her work couldn’t be used in the movie’s climactic conflict between werewolves and good and bad vampires.

Reed had quit smoking a month before filming started — she’s been off cigarettes for a year now — and says her friends in the cast helped.

“I was spending a lot of time going to the gym and being physcially active in order to get my mind off it,” she says. “I hung out much more with Elizabeth Reaser this time because she’s very active, she inspires me. Taylor and I went jet-skiing, Kellan Lutz and I went to the gym. I was kind of with the jocks this time around.”

At work, another challenge to filming was Vancouver’s frequently changing weather. The story called for overcast skies, but rain sometimes forced them indoors.

“We were always kept close to the set because we had weather issues. We had to be prepared and ready to go at any given moment. We were all brought in every single day, put through hair and makeup and then we would wait our turn to see if they would need us.”

That would explain why so many fans we met said she was rude… She was probably going through withdrawals.
She seemed like a nice person when I saw her… Granted, I never got out of the vehicle to speak to her…

But.. I am so proud of her!

Wow. I know all the cast members as well as crew members put A LOT of hard work and time into making a 2 hour movie. But this interview sure makes me appreciate even more just ALL they do!!

And with all that work, things they do don't even make it into the movie! Seven weeks of training and not even a face shot in the battle?! I'm totally floored!

I agree! I feel bad that she did all that training & wasn't shown. That sucks. I honestly don't think that I noticed to tell the truth, that fight scene moves very quickly, so much going on!

Oh, I loved her in Eclipse. This was her best performance yet out of all three of the movies! Loved her hair too!

Okey dokey….my hubby is a grip in the film industry (nope, never on a TS) and sorry girl, but 'aint no way a “glitch in the lighting” meant your stunt work couldn't be used. There are WAY to many eyes on the lighting in production and a million ways in post to fix that kind of thing. I love ya, but whether you know it or not, that wasn't the reason.

Totally didn't realize that they didn't show her in the battle sequence until this interview. She was killer in Eclipse though. I'm contemplating going to see if for a third time sometime very soon.

i was wondering why she wasnt in the battle sequences….
but yeah, good on her for quitting, and she really was epic as rosalie this time around.

she really managed to get across those 'layers' that rosalies character has.. she seems to be a bitch but really shes just bitter and upset – such a tragic character. thought she acted her backstory perfectly.

and the wig looked much better

And when she talked about being thrown around like a ragdoll in a wedding dress i figured that scene had been cut too,

that is great she quit smoking… wonder if the rest of the cast can do it too, especially rob and kstew. they keep saying they are going to quit, hopefully they can make it happen.

too bad about not getting her in the battle scenes, i totally missed that she wasn't in there.

She looked so beautiful in this movie. In the first one she didn't fit my vision of Rosalie from the book, but Wow! The had the hair and makeup way better in this one for Rosalie. She was strikingly beautiful.

It's a shame Rosalie wasn't in the battle. Or much of the fight training for that matter. I wanted to see her kick some ass!

She was brilliant in Eclipse, but that's a shame she wasn't in the battle sequence. Especially considering she did all that training, too. Poor Nikki But good on her for quitting smoking.

She looked great during her flashback….it was exactly how I pictured it. Except – wasnt Royce King supposed to be blonde haired/blue eyed? Oh well. I wish they showed her attacking Royce in the wedding dress a little longer…supposedly they shot a scene of her 'floating' down the hallway to the room where Royce was, they left that out too…

The thing I loved about the movie was that every Cullen got a part of it ..
I mean they got dialouges…
I was feeling bad when i was watching the movie that Esme didnt have a dialogue till now but my wish was fulfilled at the end … She had lines during the Bree thingy going on ..
The movie was great and everyone performed really well..
and that scene between Bella and Rosalie was Uh-Mazinggg…

Pissed she wasn't in the huge fighting scene but at least there was more of her this time around! Love Nikki and Rosalie.

Totally agree, her back story was very well done and it had this typical vampire story feel to it, the sadness, the tragedy, the “no choice”. She also managed to show very well the drawbacks of being a vampire, the fact that you are frozen, without moving forward, trapped into an everlasting existence. Nikki played Rosalie very well, and she looked better than ever, much closer to the Rosalie in my head than in Twilight or NM.
