No Muse On The Eclipse Soundtrack???

According to Doce.ca, Muse will no longer be on the Eclipse soundtrack.

“Nah, it’s gone,” Howard tells us — just a few months after he quipped to MTV: “We might even do something for the third one. How about that for a scoop?”

The news is surprising given the band is pals-y with Eclipse‘s director, David Slade (he helmed loads of Muse’s early videos), and possibly pals-ier with Stephenie Meyer (there’s even a photo of lead singer Matthew Bellamy cozying up to Twilight’s dark-ish mistress on Muse’s official site).

“Oh, it’s nothing to do with Stephenie, she’s totally cool,” says Howard, beginning to explain how Muse have potentially broken their Twilight hat-trick. “It’s the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types, the non-creative types I suppose are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn’t work out.”

As for the original tune in question, which remains untitled, Howard says it would have fit Eclipse like Edward on Bella — even though it wasn’t directly inspired by the books or movies.

“It was a love song, so it’s a personal song, and it wasn’t really to do with the films. But it was sounding good,” he says.

Muse still plans to release it, says Howard, even if you won’t hear it on the Eclipse soundtrack. (Maybe you can just play it over the make-out scenes once the flick hits DVD.)

“Yeah, yeah, we sure will [release it]. I mean, it was great. We worked on it in Australia, we were ready to record, we were going to do some recording with Butch Vig, so we might still do it,” he says. “I’m sure the song will definitely come to life for real at some point, but I think for this film it’s not going to happen.”

Little by little Scummit is tearing apart everything we hold dear when it comes to the saga. Ive honestly given up on having expectations from them. Other book series have had mistakes made once they hit the screen but this studio is just pushing it.

I thought people would think I was crazy for driving 3 hrs but there was a van from MS at the hotel we were staying at that had all kinds of Muse stuff written all over it and there was a lady behind me in line while I was getting a Tshirt from Tallahassee, FL. It was soooo great! We weren't close at all but you didn't have to be close to the stage to rock out at that concert! I can't see your pix or vids on FB. Do I have to add you as a friend to do so?

This is crazy!!! I can't believe it!!! A fellow Twilighter in the same city & hotel!!!! Cool!!! Yep that was us! It is my friends van. We decorated it at a rest stop somewhere in AL!!! Yea & I spelled Invincible wrong LOL!!! We were sooo excited!!! Was it ur 1st time seeing them? It was my 2nd! I saw them in Houston in October!!!! GOD THEY R AWESOME!!! We were on the side of the stage like 20 ft away from the stage!!! Chris was on our side! & Matt came up on the lil extended part right in front of us & sang my fav song TIRO!!!! U will it in my pix ? vids!!! I was freaking out!!!! I luv the arena! It was nice!!

Lol, no we didn't draw in the dust. Even though you were ok with it, I still can't believe someone did that! It is a little crazy that we were in the same hotel, huh? I discovered their music on the Twilight soundtrack and downloaded the songs Stephenie Meyer had on her playlist and feel in love. And what I would've given to have been that close to Chris! Ahh! I have a slight crush on him. Wasn't that bass/drum jam awesome?! I took my 17 year old sister in law and she got such a kick out of the van. This was my first time to see them live but I will definitely go back if they come anywhere around me again. And no, I don't live there. I live in Alabama, about an hr NE of Birmingham. I feel like I'm the only Muse fan here, lol.

Yea we were getting ready 2 leave the next day & that is when we saw the extra heart Yea was the same, but it wasn't till I saw their SMBH performance from Wembely on the Twi dvd that I really fell in luv!!! SM was inspired by Muse from the beginning right to the end. SM, Twilight Saga and Muse are just sointertwined that you can't have one without the other two!!!!

SM thanx them in every book, in BD she writes “And thanks also to my favourite band, the very aptly named Muse, for providing a saga's worth of inspiration”.

I am really surprised that DS hasn't fought for them, he directed three of their early vids for them!!!!!

When I read Twilight the first time I was so over the moon that SM said that Muse was her fav band and that they inspired her that I nearly cried because I felt so connected to her as they were my fav band too.

Have an awesome time at Madison Square this show will be amazing, I saw them at the O2 in London and I still get shivers thinking about it. Going again in September for their Wembley Staudium tour.
Some of our gals saw them in Atlanta on Saturday and you should see their vid clips on FB. I put mine up on Google as I didn't have FB then. If you google Muse O2 november you should see my vids!!!!

First off, I have a LOT more to do than sweat Muse (or any other band) as hard as you do. And I don't sweat Twilight that hard either. I enjoy reading updates about the movies, just like I enjoy listening to Muse. My brother, a lead singer in a Goth band, turned me on to Muse. Their involvement in Twilight is happy coincidence.

Hate to break it to you… Stephenie Meyer actually DID choose Muse as the “Twilight Mascot Band.” She dedicated a book to them, she has said millions of times that Muse drove her through the process of creating Twilight. While you're so busy judging Twilight, maybe you should go do some research about how much Muse LIKES being involved with Twilight. As the article above says, Muse has a picture with Stephenie on their own official site and was writing a song for the next movie. Doesn't sound like THEY care what you think of Twilight.

You are quite right Muse have been around a long time now, since the early 90's and SM was an early fan (unusual for the States as they were big on the Continent) and she wrote the saga while listening to them, and other bands as well.
I don't think she has ever said that they were Twilight songs, it was just that she was helped to write by listening to them because that's how she writes (she wrote The Host while listening to them as well), some of the lyrics are quite apt but then they are written by Matt about life, how we live it and other things as well. And we both know that Matt doesn't write conventional love songs anyway, except on Resistance perhaps, the ones he has written are usually a bit twisted!

It's a shame that one silly kid has made such a bad impression on you, I wish it had been me but then again I wouldn't have been that rude to ask to share your earbud!

Sure some of the girls on here have only found Muse through the soundtrack of the saga and only like SMBH, but some have become true fans, have bought Muse's older albums and go to the concerts well I recon that's great, at the end of the day if you love something enough you want to share that love.

Yep they know that Muse hadn't heard of the saga for a while and were a bit bemused by it all but hey the boys have a brilliant sense of humour and seem ok with it! And they sell more records, get known in more countries etc. In fact it has pushed their standing up in the world and especially here in the UK, shamefully we in Britain didn't support them enough we left it up to the French, Germans etc.

No, I can't begin to imagine Eclipse without Muse but I know that even if they don't perform on the soundtrack that I will still see the film!!!! But Dom says they will put out the single they made anyway so will buy that!!!!!
