Here at last is the official title treatment / logo for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
As you can see, the logo uses cold distressed metallic textures with subtle hints of red, primarily around the “P” in Eclipse.
Overall, the logo gives a feeling of foreboding austerity compared to the warm earth tones of New Moon and cool blues of Twilight.

Fits right in with the titles for Twilight and New Moon! Gives me an idea of what's in store for the movie–some similarities but with stark, chilling undertones and a little danger (the red around some of the letters).
I really like this. Especially the red lining around the P and the glint of the sun, like a real Eclipse. Whoever made this, well done. The sharp point of the P reminds me of an ice pick. Sharp like vampire teeth.
I think Kristen did amazing in the break-up scene.
As soon as Edward left… I started crying because her face was so HEARTBREAKING.
Tbh I think those people who think she did a bad job are just idiots who need to get over themselves.
Kristen is the most amazing actress I've ever seen.
The coloring of the letters reminds of Fire & Ice. Silver for Edward, Red for Jacob. Anyone agree?

I noticed right off the bat with the Eclipse shoot that they were wearing a lot of black especially Victoria and the newborns.

As more and more is posted about Eclipse it makes me realize how close it is to coming to an end…with the cast not reuniting until….from what was said in previously released reports…September 2010.
How sad is that? At least they have promotions and all of that to go to together, and I think many of them have formed such a tight bond with one another that they won't go long without seeing each other or having some sort of contact.

Yep, I think David Slade like stark. Red black and yellow seem to be his color scheme. I think It will work nicely for the overall look of Eclipse–in contast with the romantic aspects of the story which we've seen from the picture of edward and Bella in the meadow are beautiful light pastels.
The stark contrasting with the soft pastels=interesting contrast. Eclipse will be an interesting film.
I always thought that when Jacob said he couldn't fight with an eclipse it was a little odd…like there goes the sun (him) forever. But eclipses don't last…they're temporary, they end. So wouldn't that mean….? Oh Stephanie.

it is a sad time! eclipse is my fav and they're almost done..i mean its like a tv show you work on for so long and those ppl are family and than poof! its all over. i mean four years of their lives! and they're so young so they experienced “young adult/teenage” years with each other its a big time in someone's life and to experience something like this. insane.

I do agree I made that distinction myself when I first saw it..there is a small hint of red there but overall silver…possibly like Edward is a major part of Bella but Jacab has a small but significant part of her life as well. And the P being an eclipse in itself is pretty cool…I feel just from seeing this pic its darker..almost like u get a cool chill looking at it…sharp contrast from warmth of New Moon's logo…

I think David Slade will make Eclipse beautiful. He's got a real eye for photography from all the pictures he posted through Twitter. I don't think he will let the fans down. We are a vocal bunch. He might be “dark” or whatnot but I'm sure the romantic scenes will be just as good as the fight scenes. I have faith Eclipse will be awesome.
I know. The saddest part though, is that many of them are probably ready to move on..new projects…less scheduled appearances. It's US that will have the hardest time dealing with it.
We are all going to completely have to form a support group once all is said and done. ;o)

true- they're emotional and physically invested in this saga and as much as they loved it and we love them im pretty sure they're ready to experience so other roles (and you cant blame them) it will be four years or longer once this all done. but yeah a support group i agree definitely. and a way to pull up the grades as well..bc they are sinking when it comes to this saga.

I'm liking the logo. I was a little upset at first, but thinking about the darker connotations of the story, it's perfect.

I'm so excited for Eclipse. We haven't seen anything from the set. We just know the Edward's Volvo is black. And that Bella/Renee scene in Florida is going to exist in the film. That is all really cool. The teaser trailer is going to be the hugest surprise ever. That's the way things are supposed to be.

I have a few RL friends that are into Twilight like me. But I think I take it a step further into the crazy-dome. My husband thinks I belong in a padded cell but what does he know.
I don't even try explaining any of it to him, because he would tune me out anyway.

Without wanting to be called a hater, may I say that I don't feel it. To me, it looks like a logo from a gory horror movie, which Eclipse isn't.
The silver is fine, but the red just looks cheesy and out of place.
Having said this, this logo is effective and stunning, standing alone, if taken out of the context from the story.
I think that the red works. If the had used splotches of red everywhere I agree, it would have looked cheesy, but I think it looks subtle and is very effective.
I think this is trying to put across the idea that Eclipse is more dangerous and slightly more sinister, I mean you've got Victoria and the newborns in Eclipse, plus Rosalie and Jasper's dark pasts. Of course Eclipse has alot of the love story in it, you can't expect them to make to logo pink with love hearts around it. Twilight to me is a love story, through and through, but when you look at the Twilight logo, its cold and blue.

I love how cold it looks, and the hunk of SNOW on the p. To me, that means that they are figuring the tent scene in as a very important part of the movie, which means that hopefully, they did it justice! And the cold look to it just says, “Edward”. The NM logo was warm, like Jacob, and this one is all about Bella and Edward. Yay!! NM looks AMAZING, but I love that Kristen seems from the clips to have warmed up and done a better job, and hopefully everyone is comfortable in Eclipse. Didn't look that way in Twilight.

Twilight's was cold and blue, but it had a romantic element to it, New Moon's was warm and earthy, and it, too, had that element of romantic fantasy in it.
This one, on the other hand, might as well be a logo for Blade VI.

The sun is present, but only indirectly, through sunshine hitting some of the letters and making them indistinctly glitter.

Here's my thing. I like the logo. I think that it signifies the coldness and darkness that I believe DS is going to focus on in this film. I like the hint of red, I don't think that it is too much.
With that said, I agree with some that I don't like what it signifies for the future of the promotions of this film. You can put a gory, bloody costume on a small lovely child and it is still a lovely child. Twilight is NOT a horror movie or even that much of a vampire/wolf movie. It is a love story at it's core that happens to have vampires and wolves in it. It is a fantasy/love story with some battles scenes sprinkled in for conflict and added storyline purposes.
I do not like how Summit promotes films. I do not like how they are trying to get men to watch these films by telling them that it is something that it is not.
They did it with Twilight: putting the entire five minute action sequence in the trailer, making it look like that was the majority of the movie. Which backfired big time, because Twilight was somber and romantic and focused entirely on Edward and Bella's newfound love.
They are currently doing it with New Moon, releasing of these action packed clips, trying to make the movie seem to be more guy friendly and action packed. The majority of New Moon is like Kristen said, it's low and depressing and focuses on the building relationship between Jacob and Bella, while also focusing on Bella's depression and loss over Edward's absence. IT IS NOT GUY FRIENDLY, unless a guy just happens to like fantasy love stories.
And they are starting to do it with Eclipse. And I ask, WHY?

My husband was asking me about all the action that he's seen in the trailers. He was like I thought this movie was suppose to be depressing. I told that it was and then he heard the soundtrack and he was like wow that's depressing.
I'm with you. They are going to be some every unhappy action goers if they think NM or Eclipse is going action packed. Yes there be some action but NM is about loss, Eclipse is about the triangle of Jake, Edward and Bella.

i'm not so sure if they're already doing it with eclipse just looking at the logo. i mean, the first still in the meadow was pretty much spot on…
but i agree on how they've been promoting the first two films. i said this yesterday when i saw the TV promo. i really pay attention to ads (thought of going into advertising at one point) and the way they piece this stuff together just isn't jiving with me. like i said yesterday, they're promising something you're not really going to get. the people who have read the books know what it's really about. everyone else is left disappointed because they never really knew what it was about and initially had all the action scenes thrown at them. i'm not going to call it “false advertising” but rather, “misleading advertising”
i didn't want haters saying “OMG how could you say that? theses ads are the BEST!” i mean, really? the best? when everyone outside of the fanbase says it's an awful vampire movie? i mean, they don't even realize it's not a vampire movie! it's a love story–and if they had the patience to read it they would see that 1/3 of the first book is a verbal praise of edward's physical features, not his vampiric tendencies. that never comes to the front, never a worry to her.
Thank you. Finally someone is on the same page with me. Promoting Twilight, it was ridiculous. Vampire this and vampire that and look at the action sequence where Edward and James duke it out. Then the day after the movie came out, I read all these reviews and comments about how let down people were because they thought they were going to see a vampire action packed special effects driven blockbuster horror movie. Because that is what Summit sold them. You can sell whatever you want, but non Twilight fans and those that have not read the books need to go in knowing what to expect.

You know what else is wrong, it's that it's clichéd. Why are they feeding into the common vampiric lore of stakes, the way the p makes a v on the bottom?
When I look at the texture of the letters, though, it looks grainy, a lot more like snow than granite. It seems like the snow, though, because I think it's foreshadowing that final battle scene with Victoria.

I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but I figured I would! I do see the hints of red, but I think the “p” in Eclipse is different. It looks like the arch of the “p” is covering a sun – like what an actual eclipse would look like. Does anyone else see it? I don't think it's a sliver of red, I think the silver of the “p” is eclipsing a sun behind it, and we all know what that means!

Eclipse is not about Edward, Bella and Jacob’s love triangle. bella already knows what she wants and that is to be with Edward forever. However there is a price that she has to pay and that price is giving up her human life to become a vampire.

The “g” in Twilight annoys the crap out of me too. It's like how Jessica Stanley would doodle in her notebook, not Bella.
I do notice how the red bleeds out onto the other letters in eclipse and a bit in Twilight but the film is called eclipse not blood and granite LOL. It's the final stages of a solar eclipse. The texture of eclipse might be a subtle representation of the surface of the moon, in fact.
It definitely reeks of Blade et al. So it looks like the way this is marketed, this film will share a lot of the qualities of a slasher flick. But you guys fret over this possibility and forget who's starring in it. Robsten will keep it Twilight. They know their characters and what the saga is about. They are the foundation of the saga. Even if Kenny Ortega (H.S. Musical director) was called to be the BD director and BD became a musical, Robsten would still make it to most poignant musical ever to feature a CGI Baby and her p***** daddy.

wow it seems kind of hard and cold and ice-perfectly describes edward..can't wait to see the first teaser for eclipse.
I'm not as eloquent as some of you with explaining the symbolism. But I do like how the overall look of the logo looks more like snow in the way that it is soft and beautiful instead of granite, implying hard rock surfaces.
This coupled with the stark contrast of the “p” that shaped like the point of a stake, with what appears to me as a hint of red encircling it, I think signifies the dichotomy of the love story and the impending battle between good and evil in the Eclipse storyline.
The snowy look of the the letters could represent the ongoing love story between Edward and Bella and their struggle to be together against all odds. So, hopefully this means that there will be just as much focus on the romance of the storyline that we all know and love as there will be on the action.

I just noticed the “p” on the book is exactly the same. It has the same point on the bottom like a friggin stake.
Summit probably picked this font so that it would be reminiscent of the font from the book. Now, it's not the same exact font– that font much more romantic than this hard-cold one here– but I think that might have been their intention. They know that Twihards quake at any aspect of the adaptation that differs from the book so they could've thought this absolutely had to be the same as well.
The Texture- Snow
As far as the texture, I see snow still (or the moon, which I'll get to later). From the title page of the book, there's a snow bank with trees. So there goes Summit referencing the book again for the fans. The snow is a major player in Eclipse if you think about it. It provides the environment to which Victoria's vengeful quest ends and thus ending the first 3/4 of the saga. It's also a catalyst to the fire and ice chapter, where Jacob had to be present to keep Bella warm. Without the snow, Jacob and Edward wouldn't have begun to understand and respect one another. Developing Jacob and Edward's tightening bond in Eclipse was crucial before BD. There's no way Edward would've begged Jacob in BD like a p***** if this exchange hadn't occurred.
The Texture- The Moon- Eclipsing the Sun
Now, another possibility is that the texture is the surface of the moon. First, the red is not blood: it's the edges of the sun being eclipsed by the moon. The name of the movie is Eclipse. This is a solar eclipse. I think that the other letters have remnants of the sun's reddish hues because this is the final stages of a solar eclipse, not a complete one.
With Edward's return to Forks, he slowly eclipses Jacob in Bella's life throughout the book; however, Edward never replaces him completely. Jacob will always be in Bella's life. Going back to the book, after Bella tells Jacob he's her sun at the end, he tells Bella, “The clouds I can handle. But I can't fight with an eclipse.” Essentially, this is what Eclipse is about: the balancing act Bella must make with Edward's return and her burgeoning relationship with Jacob. These letters represent Jacob losing that battle to Edward, but not entirely because we all know how Jacob plays an important role in Bella's life; hence, the reddish reflection of the sun's rays on the letters.

It's so…unique. Twilight's logo was an icy blue, and New Moon's logo is a warm orange, symbolizing Jacob's new role in the films. Now for Eclipse, Jacob is suddenly being “eclipsed” by Edward. I totally understand the symbolism in these logos. But, I was kinda hoping for an icy red, or a purplish color. But I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this.

Yes, I agree with you. The “dripping” letters really did it for me… kind of pushed me over that “no, No, NO!” edge… it reminds me of dripping blood…. ugh. I know about the newborns, but they were a BACKSTORY. The entire saga is this great love story about Edward and Bella with these neat, quirky and wierd backstories. I realize that the newborns were central to the attack on Bella and Victoria's revenge, but the majority of the book was not about them. Nor should the movie be… this logo makes me worry. Sorry if you disagree guys…. I'm just…. really on the fence with this one.
