Reelz Twilight Tidbit & Breaking Dawn Rating Petition

Reelz Channel presenters gives us an overview of what the some of the cast are upto while we await the go ahead for the filming of Breaking Dawn.

Also with the rating for Breaking Dawn has been a big discussion point for quite some time.  Some angry twilighters have now created a petition to get the rating up from PG13 to R rated.

The petition states:

It is understood that not only is Breaking Dawn rated R in the book, the director should produce a film that mirrors it’s book in original form that is greatly loved by females (and some males) all over the world. Losing major details of the movie will definitely hurt the release of Breaking Dawn and disappoint fans everywhere.

Would you sign the petition?  Do you think it will have any effect in Summit? Should it be R rated?

I get what you are saying, but you have to understand the movie biz, movies have to be, and are extremely visual, and they tend to push the limits. That is their job. Second of all, not everyone is Morman, some of us are Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Agnostic, Muslim, Buddhist… so whatever the case… I'm sure they will probably not give it an R rating, since Stephenie IS Morman, and she in fact is the author of the series, but the rest of us can still hope for it.

Does that mean it will happen? Nope sure doesn't.

That said, I do understand your viewpoint and concern. Regardless, I'm sure it will be good no matter the rating they give it.

“Stephenie Meyer is just going to have to get over her religious rules for not being able to watch it, she is a grown woman I'm sure she wont be sent to Hades because she saw a movie”.

That is what you wrote. Why not try reading it from a different perspective? You are implying that she should “get over” her beliefs because she is a grown woman, and you assume there will be no consequences for it. That is what it sounds like you are saying.

Take things too seriously? Perhaps to you it seems that way. I DO take my beliefs seriously, so I will be sensitive about it. Offended? Hardly. It will take more than a silly girl to offend me. But I will speak/stand up for my beliefs and those whose beliefs are similar to mine.

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

    I'm not a silly girl, I'm a grown woman, a mother, and a wife. I could care
less about what you believe. I DON'T CARE. In fact, 98% of the people on
here could care less. B/c of your “beliefs” you take things way too
seriously. Like that one better?? I think it's retarded that someone can't
think for themselves and see the movies they want or listen to the music
they want to just because some head honcho in their religion says “Don't do
it, it's wrong”. That's ridiculous. So take that pill and swallow it down.
If that offends you, then I don't know what to tell you. But I'm not going
to walk on egg shells just because you might get your feelings hurt.

BD in my opinion, should be rated R. If you don't like that, then I just
don't know what to tell you. Agree to disagree.

  • lady_arndt

    1. Causing drama? How so? Because I felt like speaking up against the stupidity coming out of your mouth? You must be one of those people who likes talking crap and then gets all whiny when someone disagrees. You poor little princess!

    2. You are not behaving like a grown woman, you are behaving like a child. Being a mother you should care, unless you want your offspring to be just as ignorant and closed-minded as yourself of course.

    3. I can and will comment on anything I please. Just as you have your opinions, I too have mine. If you can't stad the heat – too bad! Perhaps you should focus your time on learning more about cultures and religions. Maybe then you will understand rather than knocking something you know nothing of. Ignorance is not bliss. And honey – I am not focusing on you specifically. I comment where I please. The world does not revolve around you.

No one cares? Do you speak for everyone here? I highly doubt it. Either way, I could care less what the majority thinks – I will speak up, even if I have to do it alone.

Your opinion on the rating does not bother me, it is your attitude towards others who are different than yourself. So why don't you run along now, and go educate yourself.

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

Take a hint you idiot, and LEAVE ME ALONE. I'm the least close minded person
you'll ever meet lady. I love people of all different races, and I love the
gay and lesbian community, and I also don't care if your morman, buddhist,
christian, catholic, muslim, jewish, or whatever. YOU are the one with the
problem. So get off your high horse, and get off my back!

Shoo fly, don't bother me. Oh and did I mention f*ck off? Yeah, you can go
    and do that now.

  • lady_arndt

The name calling doesn't even phase me.
    Actions speak louder than words.
And P.S. You need anger management.

You are the weakest link – Goodbye! ;-)

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

You are a moron. Goodbye ;-)

P.S.- Go find a different hobby. And yeah, I get very angry when you “insult
my offspring” and my parenting skills. So take a hint, and you can go to
hell for all I care. Oooh no, that must be me being “close minded”.

  • jakesgirl22

… I have a comment. If Stephanie Meyers cant see a Rated R movie because of her religious beliefs… then how come she can write about it in explicit details?? That doesnt make any sense at all… which means if you are going to replicate a great series as Summit Entertainment is doing then they would make it Rated R to bring out what the book shows!!

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

*peaks from behind a corner and whispers “exactly, that's what i've been
    trying to say” lol.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

Hey hon—welcome aboard! I am total agreement with you. It's not vulgar-hot, but not vulgar. I don't understand the prob either. Unless the Mormon church has really put extra pressure on SM about it. But .yeah, when you read it, you get a mental image, which is quite nice actually. heheheheSo why is it a prob? ?????????? Nice havin' you in here.

That's fine. I only name called b/c I was being personally attacked as well
as my family. I do not name call on here, and have never personally attacked
anyone. So please keep that in mind as well. Thanks for your help.

  • http://twitter.com/Spectra_ Spectra

The book is not written in explicit details, actually there are barely any details, that is why it is sold in the Adolescent section of the bookstore. The books don't even come close to being R rated.

  • http://twitter.com/Spectra_ Spectra

I know, I understand completely. I read all the comments and saw what you are referring to. :)

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

lol, thank you :-) Just making sure *wink*

    Great mods think alike LOL.

  • lady_arndt

    Sorry Mods.
I appreciate you seeing both sides of the story – I'm no saint, I'm not apologizing for what I said, but I do apologize for it turning nasty and everyone else having to deal with it. My baaad!
    That is all. :-|

  • lady_arndt

It's because they want to see Rob's heineken. ;-)

  • lady_arndt

I wanted to watch that movie (Remember Me), but some jerk forwarded me a spoiler about it and I have no desire to go watch it now. :-(

  • lady_arndt

Good movie, and def an example of a movie pushing the PG-13 rating. Also a good reason for responsible parents to watch movies before they take their young kids to watch it.

I personally would not take anyone under 13 to go watch any of the Twilight movies without having watched them first myself. Same with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. The movies are NOT bad, but we should realize some 13-year olds are not as mature as others. Hell, some 18-year olds are not as mature as some 13-year olds!

    Common sense people…

  • lady_arndt

They also have “doctor/medical” dramas on tv that show blood splurting everywhere too. ER, CSI… Now those are graphic!

  • lady_arndt

True, but you should also realize that the Twilight books continue to gain younger fans. I did not read, ever hear of, or become a fan of the series until I heard my SIL's talking about them making a movie. LOL!!!

  • lady_arndt

but that's the point… it's fanfic. It's what “we” want. Not what Stephenie Meyer wants. Besides, I am in total agreement with another commenter – that I woudl rather them leave Isle Esme alone, because they will not do it justice. They'll just screw it up. My imagination is a much happier place anywa. ;-)

  • lady_arndt

“If Summit can portray the scenes as described in the book (the actual scenes, not the stuff SM left to our imaginations) and integrate the themes SM addresses in the series without sacrificing them for the milder rating, there is no problem.”

Thankyou for your comment. It is much more eloquent then I could have ever said. This is exactly the point I am trying to get across.

Too many people are wanting detailed sex scenes, which were not in the book. The only problem I see in staying “true to the book” is the birth scene. That WAS described in detail, and I personally hope they don't show it that way because I'd hate for the husband to toss his cookies all over my lap.

  • lady_arndt

But see… you said so yourself in your comment; “I read throught the entire 3 books of the saga in hopes to *read a great love scene in breaking dawn! -It didn't happen!”

You are looking for something in the movies that was not in the books.

  • lady_arndt

Dude, seriously? I thought the HP movies blew chunks! They left out so many things in the last two HP movies, I was so dissapointed. I don't think i'll go watch the next one. And in defense of New Moon… Chris Weitz did a freaking awesome job! Waaay better, 100x better than Twilight.

  • http://twitter.com/Spectra_ Spectra

Thank you for cooperating! For real. I appreciate it. :)

  • http://twitter.com/Spectra_ Spectra

    :D :D

  • immortalbeloved01

It's a great movie! You should still see it anyway :D

  • HugAVampire_PunchAWerewolf

my opinion in regards to the rating isn't about the sex scene, but more sticking to the book.
How are they going to show the birth of Nessie? When Bella is falling out all over the place, blood pooling everywhere?
I'm not saying I love extremely grotesque movies, because I don't. But what I am saying is Stephanie wrote that for a reason. Nessie was a monster as a fetus, and she came out with a bang. It's the reason Bella became a vampire, and it's an important part of the book.
I don't want to see a full out butt-boob viewing sex scene, because that's not what the book is about. But, I also don't want to see a fluffy movie prancing around things such as the birth scene.

Also, with the fight. Not much happens, I know, but they do burn one of the vampires alive. How would they show that in a pg-13 movie?

This movie is darker and therefore needs a darker rating.
Yes, there are teen fans, but there have also been speculations that Breaking Dawn is not a teen book, but the last book in the series that the person reads once an adult.

My reasoning for BD to be R is not sex.
It is the other content that has been talked about as too dark for teens.

    Lets get this movie right!

  • ancha85

And then there's all the autopsies on “Bones”, ewww!

  • ancha85

There's a way to make it sexy hot and still PG-13.

It happened in “Remember Me” (just think how hot it would have been if Kristen would have played Emilie's part! OMG! SMOKIN'!)
And it happened in “The Notebook and others…
So many possibilities…(face gets red just thinking about it…)lol…

  • mandyausmus

My goodness! That's all just a bunch of bull crap excuses. If you want to see naked bodies and gore then go rent a porn film or a horror movie. You are truely messed up in the head to think that that's what SM was shooting for in BD. She wrote a beautiful, classy, and sexy story that most people could read without seeing in their minds what an obvious perv would see. SM should stand by her beliefs and if any of you don't like it…go write your own story to have made into a rated R movie, but leave Steph alone. If you didn't love her books for what she meant for them to be (clean) then there are plenty of writer out there who write differently (raunch). Go be one of their fans.

  • mir25

I think this movie should be made into a pg-13 because all the sex aren't even described it just says that they had it.the only nasty parts could be the next day when she wakes up and stands up and stretches while she's naked and the other part when she is giving birth to her little NUDGER Renesme

  • nancyjay

I totally agree on you with that New Moon was way better than Twilight but he over did things he made it to be more hilarious than serious. It might be the actors and their acting, which is actually getting better throughout the process if you've noticed. But honestly in New Moon I didn't find emotional appeal. I just found most of it like a joke. But Hopefully David Slade does a extraordinary job with Ecplise because it looks awesome.=D

  • Maz

The REAL actors that are in the Twilight series, Ashley Greene and Kelan Lutz HAVE to be in the Breaking Dawn films they are a MUST to play the original Cullen family, the films wouldn't be the same without them, this is a Billion dollar franchise and as such should NOT be mean with money for the stars that helped it get to be so popular.
It is NOT right for them to de devalued! Who else agrees?
