Reelz Twilight Tidbit & Breaking Dawn Rating Petition

Reelz Channel presenters gives us an overview of what the some of the cast are upto while we await the go ahead for the filming of Breaking Dawn.

Also with the rating for Breaking Dawn has been a big discussion point for quite some time.  Some angry twilighters have now created a petition to get the rating up from PG13 to R rated.

The petition states:

It is understood that not only is Breaking Dawn rated R in the book, the director should produce a film that mirrors it’s book in original form that is greatly loved by females (and some males) all over the world. Losing major details of the movie will definitely hurt the release of Breaking Dawn and disappoint fans everywhere.

Would you sign the petition?  Do you think it will have any effect in Summit? Should it be R rated?

Where did you hear about it? If I knew how to generate one, I'd have done it long ago. H388, they won't listen to anyone, antway. It's set in stone and no one will make them budge now, but you know what.it's not going to keep me from trying, LOL I can be as stubborn about it as they are, LOL

  • littlepixiegirl

Ok, Im 21 years old, and i dont want an R rated movie for this reasons:
First, The book is not really R rated. There were no sex scenes, you knew that it happened but there was nothing at all that deserves rating R, at least in the sex. The only kind that really deserves it is the birth, it was really graphic and i can see this one needing it. But at least, above all, the book is rated pg 13, so they ARE staying true to the book by this rating. Also, i really dont want a bloody gore scene, i know how the scene goes, and it really is graphic and im sure that its going to be so difficult to sit throug in live action and a big screen, and you dont need to see so much gore to get the feeling specially if you are watching and not reading. In the book it was graphic because you need the description, you need to get sucked in, but in a movie, that is not necesary and its going to feel like a horror movie and the saga has nothing of horror in it except for the use of vampires and werewolves.

Second, what kind of PG 13 movies have you guys seen? Is not going to be a kids movie because of that, PG 13 is really the limit, its where you can see a little more, but not over the edge. I admit that maybe the birth scene will be tricky with this rating, but im sure they can manage, and the love scenes will be perfect with PG 13. Like I said, im 21, and i can appreciate a steamy scene =) but no, not in this movie! I dont want a hot sex scene, i wan a beautiful, tasteful love scene, because that is what I imagined when I read BD, and with a PG 13 is posible. The birth is possible with PG 13, but obviously is going to be tone down.

Third, think about all those fans that wont be able to see this movie if it is R rated, I know that the book really became famous among adults, but not anymore, there is a lot of teens and even kids in the mix thanks to the movies. Think how much is going to suck for them, I think about my little cousins that have gone with me to every movie. They love them, and by the time BD arrives they will be probably around 15 and 14. It sucks for me because i know they like it that i need to be a little more cautios now with Eclipse, now imagine BD. They are also fans, dont leave them out.

That is my opinion, you dont need R to get it right

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

Right on! Yea I don't quite know how to start one either… hmmm maybe I can
figure this out… or having a link to that dang petition would be nice!

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

It sure would. I ain't done with Scummit. I'll have the last word. LOL

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

oohhh, don't you know they are shaking in their boots. hahahaha But I am going to write them again. I did it once and I'll keep doing it. If we all wrote them and buried the desks with letters, think it'd send a message?

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

Haha, I admire your determination. Yeah I wouldn't mind writing them a crap
load of letters… I doubt they'll listen, even if their were bags upon bags
of mail from all of us. They could care less as long as they make a dollar
or two. I really wish they would take into consideration what we tell them.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

You'd think they would want to make this saga the best it could be for the fans, wouldn't you? If I had a company, the audience would be my first consideration, cause that's where your money and word of mouth is comin' from. I don't understand the way they run that place.

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

Ugh I know! I don't understand it either. I'm trying my best to just be
grateful that they are even making movies about these amazing books, but if
your going to do something, don't just half a$$ it… do it ALL the way and
be the best at it and make some darn good movies.

  • DreamlessNights

Yeah, I guess I consider that R, but I don't really think that's the R content that people want when they talk about it. People just want sex scenes. That aren't explicit in the book. That's what I'm talking about.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

You would think. I was very impressed with RM and it was Scummit. See, you have to have a good writer–RM did, but to let this saga lose it's punch would be a sin. All the time and effort the stars put in it, plus SM dream—–I'd hate to see the last movie leave a bad taste for the saga in general. If she screws it up it will affect a lot of people, and I want Rob and our stars to have the best reviews ever. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I'm anxious to see what she's done with Eclipse
Hopefully we will see some of the book, then I may hold out a little hope for BD, bu if not Grrrrr It won't be pretty. hahaha

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

True, Remember Me was very very good, but it wasn't a book, lol, And I agree
with you that you HAVE to have a good writer as well, and you also have to
have a great directer to help bring the story to life. It all goes hand in
hand. The writing though is a huge thing! I think as far as the critics go,
they are so biased now anyway when it comes to the saga, that no matter
what, they are going to hate it. It doesn't matter if it's an absolutley
brilliant and amazing movie, they will still say negative things about it
because they don't care and have already written it off. Screw the critics,
I just care whether us fans are pleased with it or not. Am I pleased with
the cast, hell yes! Am I pleased with MR and how she leaves half the books
out, hell to the no. Hope they listen for Breaking Dawn, and I sincerely
hope it's R…. which I know won't happen, but I still have my fingers
    crossed damnit.

  • ilust4edward

I do understand everyone's concern. It is essential they show the intense passion they have as a couple. The movies have completely been missing the intensity level of their love. That has been watered down and I do not want to see it watered down for BD. (I am crossing my fingers that Eclipse will start to show that) But that being said it doesn't necessitate an R rating. I am also frustrated that everyone refers to the audience as kids. Everyone I know loves this series and is in my age range. I would be willing to bet good money that the huge majority of the fan base is in their 20's and up. I will just be thrilled if it ends up being like the book!

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

Yes,you sure do have to have a good director and I so proud to hear that Rob was associate producer of it.You're so right——critics have a field day with anything I love, but I don't pay any attention to them. It's pitiful when it took the rest of the world to make RM money and in America where you'd think it would be so loved and revered-it was crushed by critics. grrrrrrr And you're probably right about how they critique the saga, BD will suffer at their hands, yet again. So frustrating . Yep cross fingers is all we can do

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

*gets down on knees* Please PLEASE Twigods, make this last movie good.
Because if you don't, I will go pull a Bella and find a nice tall cliff in
    La Push, lol.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

hahahaha Make sure it's big enough for the bunch of us. LOL

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

lol, oh I will. I will make sure it's got plenty of room and is nice and
high. haha. *starts to imagine getting chewed out by people who just don't
    understand*……

“Just because you saw a bunch of Twihards jump off of a cliff, doesn't mean
you have to follow them and do it too!”… hmmmm let me think about that
one… YEP! it sure does! But only if Eclipse and BD suck, lol.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

Yeah-got it figured from the git- go. Have to have answers beforehand. I sincerely hope they don't tank. Please twi-gods

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

Haha, maybe we should just become writers and write for BD? I wouldn't mind
the millions of dollars we would get for making a kick “A” movie. lol. Would
    you? haha.

  • VAMPLOVER ccc <3 my Twisters

Hale no! I'm game!@ When do we start? LOL Just want a great movie like the book .

  • Edwardslamb4eva

I believe it shouldnt be rated 'R' but definately npthing like PG ossible m?? or M15+ so the sex scenes are still intimate but not overboard

  • http://fanfiction.net/u/1676148 Alice Whitlock 111

NO NO NO NO!!!!! IT CAN NOT BE RATED R! CAUSE THEN I CAN'T SEE IT T_____T If it's rated R in the States the equivalent over here is “Level III”, which means that only 18 and over can see it. I NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • kerbear585

i would sign it but i don't think that it will do any good. they are not going to make it rated R because that will lose millions of their fan base and they know it. but they could do like with the dvd a theatrical version and a director's cut…cuz the director's cut is always unrated.

  • miaolivia

Right, Summit won't make a rating decision based on a petition. That shouldn't preclude us from discussing the merits of different ratings and voicing our (respectful) opinions.

It sounds like the primary source of confusion (and, probably, dissention) is rating criteria. Perhaps those of us in the “over 21″ half of the fan base have forgotten the *current* distinction between the ratings (i.e. exactly what forces a film to be rated R), since we haven't had to focus on that for ourselves for a while. Maybe a lot more previously R material is now permissible in PG-13 films. If Summit can portray the scenes as described in the book (the actual scenes, not the stuff SM left to our imaginations) and integrate the themes SM addresses in the series without sacrificing them for the milder rating, there is no problem.

  • Tamara

I absolutely do not have an issue with an unrated version being released. ;-)

  • Tamara

You assume that only minors will be excluded from watching the movie if it is rated-R. There are a lot of adults that will not go watch it if it has an R-rating. That is my point. Again, a PG-13 rating excludes no one.

I say you sit on your high horse, because you commented “sorry, but i guess you can stay home with the teenagers” to an adult who said they did not wish to see an R-rated movie. You obviously don't care what anyone else thinks, so long as you get what you want.

  • Tamara

Stephenie Meyera is LDS (aka Mormon), and people of the same faith as her are asked to not watch R-rated movies. We are also told to be careful what music we listen to, etc…

Hope that clears things up a little.

  • Tamara

“a contradiction to her faith”… How so?

    We're Mormons, NOT nuns/monks.
There is nothing in those books that contradicts anything in our faith, Unless you mean vampires and werewolves existing.

  • Tamara

    So boycott it then.

When are people going to realize that movies are nowhere near as good, or accurate as their books? I think the one exception may have been Lord of the Rings. Other than that though..? Look at Harry Potter, they have totally botched those movies! You simply cannot expect a movie to be the same as it's book.

Stephenie Meyers wrote the Twilight series. And now we've had different directors making each of the movies. An author writes to provoke thought and imagination. A director takes what is written and creates their own visual interpretation of that. People (authors and movie directors) think differently – their brains are on different frequencies. ;-)

  • The Popper

If an adult does not go see an R rated movie, it is by CHOICE, therefore not an exclusion. The only thing I can obviously say is that may be another word you need to look up.

My turn to say WOW! … this is sad, where did all the intellegent people go?!

  • Sophia

Agree with you on that 1000000% MR sucks srsly.

  • melksweet

Where can I sign the petition?

First of all, I read throught the entire 3 books of the saga in hopes to *read a great love scene in breaking dawn! -It didn't happen!

Now they're stating the movie will be pg13? -Please, this is just such a letdown. They just want to make as much money as possible, and let 13 year olds in it.

Where can I sign the petition?

  • nancyjay

Honestly I would sign it. even if

  • lady_arndt

I agree. Where DID all the “intelligent” people go? ;-)

And FYI, for me, not going to see an R-rated movie is not so much a choice, as it is my faith/beliefs. I will not put my morals aside to go view an R-rated film, nor will many other adults of the same belief.

    As I said… A PG-13 film excludes no one.

  • http://twitter.com/Spectra_ Spectra

Totally agree with you. I'm 30 years old and I don't like watching R rated movies because all the ridiculous gore and over the top cursing really doesn't portray the story better. It just annoys me.

  • The Popper

I never disagreed w/ you, I asked if you knew the difference between the ratings. I don't think an R rating that only EXCLUDES “young children” has anything to do w/ an adult wanting to watch a movie, but you have your opinion, and your choice. And if you believe that you want to include “young children” in your PG-13 rating thats also your choice. But your right because all I ever hear from “young children” is that they love Twilight.

  • lady_arndt

You obviously have a difficult time listening to what others say. You continue to blabber on about “young children” being excluded, and that is not my point at all. My point is that some ADULT fans will be excluded if it were rated-R. But this arguing back and forth with you in particular is in vain, because you have a one-way mentality. you need to learn to think outside of your bubble.

And that is all I have to say to you. Good day!

  • lady_arndt

    Ditto!

  • The Popper

I'm not arguing w/ you, I wouldn't waste my time. I actually was giving you a chance to redeem yourself intellectually, but alas you disappoint.

The definition of exclude: 1 a : to prevent or restrict the entrance of b : to bar from participation, consideration, or inclusion
2 : to expel or bar especially from a place or position previously occupied

A R rating does not EXCLUDE anyone, regardles of religion, beliefs, or morals. Your excluded b/c you choose to be for whatever reason.

So don't get your panies in a bunch, b/c I like it here in my bubble. AND Please don't insult my babbling, b/c I haven't insluted yours. You have a great day too.

  • lady_arndt

I too would have loved a violent end to the Volturi, BUT, imagine the possibilities for other books? IF you take out the Volturi all at once – not much left to tell other than Jacob and Reneesmee's (sp?) story.

I think some of the Volturi should come back and battle it out with the Cullens. Maybe Caius, Jane, Demetri, Felix, etc… turn on Aro and kill him, then go after the Cullens? Then, the Cullens wipe them out, and Marcus is left to lead the Volturi. Something awesome like that? ;-)

  • lady_arndt

“that crappy screenwriter will kill it,just watch”

    ROFLMAO!!! XD
    funny but true!

  • lady_arndt

“get over her religious rules”!? Wow! That is the most ridiculous, closed-minded, and ignorant thing I have seen posted on this board. Religion or not, Stephenie created the series, and she has every right to have a say in how her novel is portrayed on film.

She IS a grown woman, she is also a mother and wife, and she does not need to sacrifice her morals to suit your selfish needs. You obviously know nothing of her faith/beliefs… perhaps you should crawl out from under your rock and do a little research. You should be more respectful of others and their beliefs.

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

I didn't say I have a problem with her religion you moron. I said that she
should get over the issue of it IF it were going to rated R. People (hence
YOU being one of them) take things WAY too seriously now days. So don't be
so sensitive and get so offended. Did I mention you can kiss it?

  • cosmogirl21 <3 my Twisters

OOoooo yes, yes you do. lol. I want to see it all. haha.
