You described my feeling about Eclipse perfectly in one word…heartbroken.

I'm glad you feel the same way as me about the whole thing, reading all the comments about how 'amazing' the film was I was starting to wonder if I'd seen the wrong film. I am a die hard fan, read all the books before seeing the movies and am totally devoted to the characters and the story. Like you I went to see the movie with low expectations so as not to be too disappointed. Eclipse was my favourite book and I just can't understand how people who love the books can say that the movie was 'amazing' or 'epic'. Amazing…Epic….really?

I'm fed up with people saying the movie will never be the same as the book so just accept it. I'm not a moron, I know that books can't be adapted word for word onto the screen but for god's sake how can people not be pissed off at how the main characters are being misrepresented? Not even slightly but completely and utterly altered! Are we so apathetic about the whole thing now that we are expected to hand over our money and be happy with whatever crap they present us with? So we're just supposed to smile and accept the story we love being butchered beyond recognition or risk being hammered for being negative about it?

In the book Bella is strong, selfless and loving, she doesn't have to stand up and give a speech about herself for us to see that. But in the film she comes across as a cold, selfish bitch with no consideration for Edward, Jacob or anyone else for that matter. She wants to be a vampire because she feels 'out of step' with the real world and not because she wants to spend the rest of her life with her soul mate Edward. WTF???!! That part of the film was like taking a bullet!

I could rant and rant about it all day but what's done is done. They have totally destroyed the story at this stage in my opinion and with HER version of Eclipse, MR and whoever else is responsible has finally cut the heart and soul out of the Saga.

I really really want to give David Slade a really really big hug!! I really liked twilight
altough i was dissapointed they didnt stick to the book.. I kind of like new moon because they did just that! stick to the book but i thought the special effects gave the movie a fake feeling whereas twilight felt real, new moon was i dont know .. a little bit childish. Eclipse fixed everything that was wrong with the first too, they stuck more to the original story but kept it real. The vampires looked like vampires, not underdone or overdone and i like how they paid attention to their eyes this time, they weren't always gold. The cullens looked so beautifull this time. No fancy over the top effects or camera work. It took me back to twilight where i first fell inlove with the saga. The acting was perfect this time i truly felt like they worked hard, they gave an AMAZING performance. I really wish David Slade had atleast something to do with Breaking Dawn because honestly i dont trust this musical director. Even though it wasnt exactly the same as the book (like new moon almost was) the changes they made didnt change the basis of the story and they werent bad changes like keeping major scenes out that i would have loved to see (like in twilight). I could go on forever but i cant because im heading off to the cinema to see eclipse for the 4th time ;) lol!

just come back from the cinema and i am so disappointed, i think they got it all so wrong…..director included, it was so bad, the movie was disjointed, no flow, that even as a real twilight fan, i was cringing……bella's bad wig drove me mad as well, rosalie has lost her identity, jasper over acted and well it goes on and on…….i just dont think that i will be rushing to see breaking dawn…and believe me to be saying this is breaking my heart…bring back catherine hardwicke…..she has a real understanding of the books and how the fans feel, i think the male directors dont get the books at all, it needs a female director…..

okqy you’re right it was a great movie. but the ONE part that they didnt show that i felt was essential to the movie, was the part at the end when bella cries all night on edward because she is so heartbroken that she left jacob. i feel that that scene truly contributes so much to the whole “love triangle” thing. because at the end of the movie it just looks like leaving jacob didn’t phase bella at all, and makes bella look sort of bad also when she’s not. that part proves how torn between the both of them bella really is! so i was really disappointed that they didnt put that scene in because in my opinion it’s crucial to the story.

When I went on Tues night and right when Bella says “Kiss me Jacob” the film started shaking and burst into flames! We had to wait 15 min for them to fix it, and they didn't get it back on the right part. It was nuts!! lol… Loved the movie though for sure! Best out of the three, can't wait for breaking dawn

I know, I didn’t say that I didn’t notice anything missing that I thought should have been there, because I did. I just didn’t care because the movie was so entertaining the way that it was. I was also seeing the movie late at night after getting up early that day, driving to LA, standing around waiting for a long time in shoes that were very uncomfortable, laughing my butt off at a filming of Lopez Tonight, driving all the way back from LA, getting directly in line (the end of the line) for Eclipse, waiting there (mostly standing) for several hours, running around frantically searching for good seats (still in uncomfortable shoes), and then nearly breaking my neck trying to see the movie from the seats I did get. I had a long day that day, and the only reason I came home and started writing this at 3:00am was because I had to find some way to express my reaction to the movie, or I would end up depressed (I have issues). I didn’t expect anyone to read it, but I do understand exactly what you mean. If I reviewed it again, since I’ve seen the movie again, and the reactions of others, I would have more to say, but this was just my initial reaction to the movie, not my entire opinion on everything. :)
Also, when I wrote this, nobody had seen the movie, and I didn’t want to spoil anything for anyone by putting what they did or didn’t include in the movie. That would be rude of me. But I do agree that I wanted to see that part as well, and I understand exactly what you mean.

I went a second time to see it. I have to say I loved it the second time. I think I was to critical the first time I watched it. The second time I just watched and really enjoyed it. I take it back Mellissa and David Slade did a fantastic job. It was my favorite book and I was being way to picky.
