In 2005, rookie author Stephenie Meyer wrote a book about vampires in just a few months. Faster than she’d written it, Twilight leapt from bookshelves and the world met Bella, Edward and the rest of the Cullen clan. Told from Bella’s point of view, Twilight is the story of a star-crossed couple who cannot consummate their romance because Bella’s love, Edward, is a vampire. Meyer followed her breakthrough with three sequels in the next three years, all of which became gigantic bestsellers.

In 2008, she tried something different (sort of) by retelling the events of the first books, only from Edward’s point of view. Sooner than you can say “glittering vampire,” 12 unfinished chapters from the new manuscript, Midnight Sun, appeared on the Internet. “I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being,” Meyer said in a message to fans. Rather than punish her loyal following, Meyer posted her entire unfinished Midnight Sun draft on her website. The only catch is that it’s unprintable — better bring an e-reader.

Sad. So sad. Had this person, whomever they are, kept this to themselves (like they should have) we would have had Midnight Sun by now. I have full faith that it will be finished, someday.

Heck I'm paitent… But have u read it???
If u have I can't imagine you'd be saying this…
It is an amazing book and ends right when you want to see what he feels and thinks the most!
That is why it's such a shame she hasn't finished it… and why most fans want her to…
It takes you to a whole other level… After reading it you finally understand Edward… Until I read it I always saw him in SUCH a different light… And it just makes you want to know more about him…
I think she owes us something to complete him as a character…
If you haven't read it… U need to read it!
You will see him so differently and you will want to re-read and re-watch all the ones that ARE done.
Frankly I think she would be smart to re-do all 4 in his POV and possibly some of the others mixed in… We would just get to see more into this amazing world she created… And frankly… If she's smart she will do something like that b/c it will bring in the money for her and her FAMILY… Now is the time for her to do it… It's just dumb of her NOT TO…

She needs to give us more CULLENS!!!!

I have a feeling that maybe she decided not to finish it not only b/c it was leaked but maybe she knew that if she did E's POV of Twilight (MS) she would have to do it for the rest of the books…
Which IS what we all would want, right?!?!

Maybe she used it as an excuse not to continue…
If she did MS… She would most likely have to do the rest and she wasn't 'in the mood for it anymore'…

I frankly hope she does do them all over in E's POV and/or with some of the other characters (like maybe Alice, to get an idea of her visions better)…
I think they would sell like crazy…
And I think she knows that. Maybe she just doesn't have that imaginary world in her anymore… who knows?

I just really pray she'll finish AT LEAST MS…
I guess I could wait till after the movies are done… but she'd be smart to do all 4 in other POV now and release in 6 month increments after movies are done.
Even tho we all know she is writing a new book and still gonna produce 'The Host' movie…

Frankly I will not read any of her other work until I KNOW there is NO more Twilight stuff coming out. Until I KNOW she is DONE with anything and everything Twilight…

And I have a feeling many are doing that as well…
If she's smart she should just do them…

You know what you wrote is EXACTLY how I feel about it too!

But as I read my own thoughts in your post. It got me thinking…
What if the whole point of is was simply that???
It was leaked what? around the time the 1st movie was being made… like Bree tanner and Eclipse.
What if the whole purpose was simply to get a glimpse at E and make us see why he is the way he is???
Maybe she never intended to finish it!
I only read it when Eclipse was in production… So I always hated the way E was portrayed in the movies…. UNTIL I read MS!

Maybe it was simply a back story for Rob and his role as E!!!

I will be so pissed if that is really why…
But seriously! think about it…!!

Maybe it was NEVER suppose to be finished… and maybe not even leaked, but sold as an extra to the movie!
And when it was she just said it was suppose to be the next book…
Why would she release it if the saga had ended???
It would make more sense if it was a movie promo type thing and that is the reason it might never be finished… And that is where the movie companions came into play! B/c her first attempt at a book to accompany the movies failed… then she tried it out with the bree tanner thing… but that's not what most fans really want… anyways…

I hope not… But that's a pretty big possibility?

Midnight Sun was leaked before 1st film- Twilight came out. Rob got to read it when he was preparing for Edward charactor.

I dont know how many people have read this. If they have read it they woud have understood his charactor and respect his decisions.

If somebody says that they dont Edie I tell they to read MNS

I am constantly surprised by the negativity shown by some 'fans' towards Stephanie Meyer… I want Midnight Sun to be completed too – but Stephanie is a person – not a machine, she can't just jump in to writing something which now has really negative connotations for her. We are lucky she decided to post the rough draft on her site, so we would read it. And she gave us the opportunity to read the Bree Tanner book on-line for free! Given that anything she writes is bound to sell like hotcakes, she really didn't have to do that.
I personally enjoyed 'The Host', though it took me a while to get into and also the different perspective of the Bree Novella and look forward to reading anything else she writes – as I become totally absorbed in whatever world she creates.
Stephanie clearly appreciates her fans and I think it's sad some people are so obsessed with Twilight that they feel the need to diss anything which isn't solely about Bella and Edward.

Yeah, that would she would write about Twilight her whole life (which wouldn't bother me AT ALL) BUT I liked Bree Tanner…I would read anything Twilight related…it's been so long since I read BD

I just finished reading the chapters that are posted on her website…… i absolutlely LOVED IT!!!!! It was so nice seeing Edwards perspective, but not only that, hearing the everyones thoughts, and just giving a whole view of his side of the love story…. In Twilight u feel like Edward is completely confident, this book lets us in on his insecurities, and his lack of experience, (as if i cudn't love the character of Edward anymore)….and an added bonus u get more interaction with the Cullens, and their thoughts…… as if waiting for Breaking Dawn the movie to come out isn't enough torture, now i have to wait (without any guarantee) for this book to be completed.

'we would have had Midnight Sun by now'. I've been saying that once i found out about midnight sun. I got so mad that i was almost done with Breaking Dawn and the next book was still not published or finished being written yet

As much as I LOVE MS… I kinda get mad that she let us in on it and left us dangling in a way…
I have said many times that I hope she finishes it. I don't care how long it takes but I do think she should do it soon…
I completely agree that there are ppl that are too pushy about it. But I get it at the same time.
I personally don't want to get into 'The Host' until Twilight is officially OVER… That's just how I feel about it.
I agree also about how it was really nice of her to put Bree Tanner online for free. I even bookmarked it to read but let the time go by and didn't read it b/c it just didn't spark that much interest for me…
I would rather ANYTHING Cullen then other character's back stories… as most fans do… the wolves too…
I think SM is a great writer. But as for MS… I frankly think she just needs to try and find a way to finish it… Doesn't have to be tomorrow… But it would be really great if she would at least do THAT for the fans… I think that is what gets a lot of the fans upset over this… Letting us get a glimpse sometimes is worse then none at all… Especially prolonging the completion of it…
IDK… It's just frustrating. To have something you love so much and all the power of it is in one person's hands….

If she's smart instead of doing MS just like Twilight but in E's POV…
She could easily jump around through all the books in his POV and just make one very large book. or 2 or 3.. LOL
But not necessarily have it ALL sync up with the others…
I'm sure there is some way to do something to this effect…
Not necessarily sync up each book but do somewhat of a compacted version of all 4…
I'm so not explaining this right or how I envision it at all…
But if you get my drift…. it's a thought of what she COULD do…

I do get it – I would loooooooooove her to finish Midnight Sun, as the bit that's there is even better than Twilight in my opinion… but at the same time I totally get why she dropped it when someone close to her leaked it. That kind of betrayal is hard to forget. I really hope she does finish it eventually – but I think from her perspective it's hard to see why she would. If she was ever going to, I think she would have done it during the Twilight filming to help Rob get into Edward's head (like she did with Bree/Jodelle). As far as she's concerned, the saga is probably finished (though I can't face up to it yet!).
I don't think she'll write 'cos we all want it more than air – she seems to need to be caught up in a story and have it all pour out of her – hope I'm wrong though!

But why are u so against “Bree Tanner”? I mean, Stephenie wrote it in the same manner that she wrote Twilight Saga and it's a great book…I sure wish it was longer (especially after she meets the Cullens).

It's just Bree was such an insignificant character to me, surprisingly one of the very few I didn't feel a connection too… Maybe that's why…

I dunno… I guess it's kinda b/c it's like an addiction to me… Even tho you want it so badly, when it ends you crave more… And I have finally gotten to the point that even tho I still crave it, it's died down a bit. And when I get my dose of Cullens, I just want more and more… And then I get sad that I can't get more… U know?

Kinda like when you have a scab and you really wanna pick at it, but you know you shouldn't cause then it'll be vulnerable again… LOL

It's that contradiction of feelings when u feel the need to read more and more even though u know it's gonna end badly, but u still read it 'cause u can t help yourself.
Even now, after I ve read Twilight Saga many more times than I can remember I still have this hole in my stomach when I get to my fav parts and I can't stop myself from reading them, even though it doesn't do me good. I stay to contemplate for hours after…
After I first finished reading all the books I started reading fanfics because I got so freaked out (there was nothing left). Anything, just Twilight related…
But anyways…when I first heard of “The second…B Tanner” the first thing that came through my mind was: “Edward reading Bree's mind, Bree thinking about Bella, Bella protected by Edward” and I barely managed to get through all that big introduction (that's how I consider it:))))))))) ) until she meets the Cullens.
So yeah…I know what u mean…
but my advice? u should give it a try (u don't have to buy it, go read it in a bookstore, u're gonna finish it super fast)

I can't believe people actually complained about this book…it's amazing…the whole action is at superlative…and a lot more mature…and more personal and at a different a level of maturity
not to mention u get everything u wished for in the first three: Bella FINALLY becomes a vampire, they FINALLY have sex, they get married and we even have a bonus, a gore birth scene and a child…should I go on?:))
