According to Deadline.com, Taylor Lautner will play the title character Stretch Armstrong!
He’s already Hollywood’s highest paid teen. Pretty soon, he may also be Hollywood’s richest teen. He’s certainly Hollywood’s hardest working teen. Universal has just cast the 17-year-old Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner to play title character Stretch Armstrong based on the Hasbro toy. The studio is giving Stretch superhero powers in the new 3D franchise that is scheduled for release in 2012. Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Co-Chairman Donna Langley think Lautner is “the real deal” and are undaunted by all the other projects which Taylor also is launching, including the Max Steel franchise at Paramount and the 3rd and 4th installments of the Twilight Saga for Summit Entertainment, and other films.“In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power,” said Langley. “We couldn’t be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch.”
Agreed Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro: “The addition of Taylor Lautner and the 3-D twist to Stretch Armstrong is sure to pay dividends when the film is released in 2012.”
The studio said Stretch Armstrong is moving to March 2012 “to allot time to shape the project into a 3-D superhero adventure and to accommodate Lautner’s existing commitments”. Stretch Armstrong is based on the iconic action figure made popular around the world beginning in the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile, American Gangster) will team with Hasbro to produce Stretch Armstrong to life. Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty) has written the screenplay, and Hasbro’s Goldner and Schneir also produce.

In the Twilight films, every actor has the backing of the twi-fan base but in their own movie roles this is where they will prove they can carry a film.
Kristen has done this already with The Runaways and the other one (I forgot the name). Rob will do fine with Remember Me and Bel Ami am sure will seal that whole, he is already getting good reviews for this role in Remember Me.
Taylor hasn't been in his own movie yet, Valentines Day does not count as his own movie. He has a cameo role.
Looking at his roles, Max steel will come across as very G.I.Joe style and this film just screams crazy. Its not the type that would pull me in to the cinema. Most his roles seem to be taking his shirt off and i can tell you now majority of people will be sick of seeing it and will come down hard on him. His other roles do not interest me at all.

He's young, this is most likely something he enjoys, maybe when he becomes more mature, he'll start picking movies that will heighten his career, not just show off his muscles.

thank you for letting me rant. rob still has to prove himself as an appeal drawer in something other than twilight. and rm is his chance but if they overdo the pr/marketing it could back fire on rmand future rob projects. they could be doing that making us excited but that will backfire with fan fatigue and the fact they want to draw more fans with the 'guy friendly' thing. fact is ppl have already decided with they love or hate it. thats why switching actors in the middle of a series is bad. you grow a bigger fanbase off a book with a movie franchise most of thoses fans have favorites when you change a fav its usually a negative feedback. i am giving bryce a chance and i hope others do to. but bring her into this isnt going to change numbers. her fanbase is smaller than rachelle's. trust me it is. rachelle has a major big wolf fanbase in canada. bryce doesnt have a draw appeal. all of her replacement project have been flops and the last two film are being hailed as her worst. I pray and hope eclipse does well but there is alot stalk against like the switch, the comps. and timing. no i dont want to wait til nov. but history is a repeater. i dont think they will moved it back to nov. because there is alot comps. esp. for IMAX. you have tron, hp, narnia, and so many others.
My Plea to my fellow fans….Let's break the neverending cycle of history and show what we fans can do as a fanbase… as a support system… as a family. Lets break the cycle. Break Records. And show those critics what we can do. Give Eclipse a chance.

november? comps? eclipse is due for june. and i rather wait and get a good quality film than to rush it. so i hope they don't rush breaking dawn. we have broken records with new moon and so far its accumulated 700 million worldwide. and thats mostly cos people watched it more than once. the backlash of twilight is what didn't allow it to get to a billion. and don't worry, i have a feeling eclipse will rake in more money than new moon! :O we just gotta see who's film is up against. summertime = blockbusters. cos of the action and slade's experience with horror/action films. so i dont think rachelle's replacement will affect the fans going to see eclipse or its numbers. some have gotten over it. im giving bryce a chance to.

I know June I was saying if it got moved back to nov like some spec. is saying. We are currently on the same pattern as hp before they moved that to nov. Coming this summer. We will know the full schedule till next month or April. I know I will not see it till July 6 at the earliest because of work. It was off last year. I could quit and then see if they would hire me back after. Jk lol. I have a lot of trust and faith in David. He did well with 30 days and hard candy. But I make me nervous that he made comments against twilight even if it was joking (could be a PR excuse) and now he is directing one. Again the comps could hurt. It may be a little or a lot. It was an honest opinion list. Meaning no one could lie. 693 times 10 are 6930 and that the min. there is repeats. 78% saw twilight more than once. 52% saw nm more than once. Most believe Bryce can’t delivery a performance 75%. Yes we are a twilight school and we all have fun with it. Girls 96% and guys 4% alike. I personally think Bryce is a mediocre actress and I am part of that 75% but still I am willing to give her a chance. I am hoping to be impressed for the first time by her. Most critics have made up their minds about the saga. Most hate it mostly for writing (MR) and the acting. I don’t think we can win them over after New Moon. I could be wrong about it. I could overreact like Edward. I really hope so. I read too much. I need some Eclipse News to chew on. Soon.

There are many others. But I am not listing them all. Summer line up for July/August isn’t locked and completely known until like March/ April. We pretty much know the before comps. Unlikely to change. The switch is regarding the “Replacement Act of July” with Bryce and Rachelle. I saw that once and I kinda like it. The survey is a honestly promise survey which mean you shouldn’t lie. Everyone asked questions about Twilight. We are currently in the process of adding a Twilight course to our HP, Star Wars, LOTR and Star Trek course line up. Its liberal arts here and its an easy A. It was like 10 initial questions with follow up every month on some. I have a love/hate relationship with it all. I hated it when twilight became commercial. I want the movies but not the commercialism. It is business but still. I have not gone to a convention since Summit joined up. I want to one shortly afterwards and then throw the rag in. When it goes commercial it takes all the fun out of it. I am a Star Wars fan as well and don’t attend SW conventions for that reason.
