I was kinda upset about the first quote. It's my favorite from the series, I'm using it in my vows to my husband for our vow renewal in May, and I'm getting it tattooed on my foot shortly thereafter. That makes me sad that they didn't get it right… :-

I think the “Edward, she found us,” line coincides with Bella's internal dialogue when she is in the forest and realizes that the danger is here with her, Edward, and Seth. Loved the trailer!

Like, that was a part to show Bella's insecurity, she was seriously upset. Where's, in the trailer, it just sounds like mild curiosity.

I REALLY hope that's not what they did…you might be on to something though. I'm pretty impressed too…I can't get over how much I love the cinematography already…I'm lame and should be focusing on the content more, but I can't help it…it's just so beautiful.

In all fairness, I'm sure that for at least some of them, only PART of the quotes are in the trailer. We haven't seen them in context, in the full movie scenes

In the book Bella is really pleading and beggining and showing how much he means to her. In the trailer it's like: “you may be hurt I kinda dont care if you go”

i know how you feel! it's really SO beautiful! the coloring is amazing…it seems like the quality just keeps getting better with each film…i really love the shot of bella standing on the beach, looking out at the ocean…awesome! and i just remembered that this is going to be shown in IMAX too…epic!!

You mean the graduation party? The conversation you are referring to took place after Bella's graduation, but before the party and she was just explaining her theory about Victoria to Edward. The line “Edward, she found us,” I think more appropriately refers to Victoria finding them in the forest where Edward was deliberately trying to keep Bella hidden.
But you are right about trailers….half the shots in the NM trailer didn't even make it in the movie. (Can't wait for deleted/extended scenes.) So who knows how much of this we'll actually see. I'm so glad for something though!

Well obviously it is not going to be just like the book. Anyone who thinks so is just setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. If Eclipse is not up to par then hopefully they will replace Melissa R. I don't know if summit will take a chance with 2 possible Breaking Dawn movies in the works.
Very dedicated fans here, that's for sure! I also think it's an intellectual process. You read and reread a book you love (and maybe obsess over a little) and then yay! it's made into a movie. It's only natural to analyze that process and make comparisons, keeping in mind though that the adaptation will never be the same as the book.

The one where Bella says 'you don't know what you're getting yourself into' is during the graduation party scene where Jacob and the wolf pack decide to help the Cullens fight the Newborns. So that one was wrong.
I saw New Moon in IMAX the second time I went and it made it SO MUCH BETTER than when I saw it on the regular screen on opening night. Giant screen + amazing sound = twilight win
The problem is that MR takes the exact quote or a derivative of it (which is good) but then she puts it somewhere else.
I have a feeling she thinks that she is staying true to the book when in fact she is just jacking up the screenplay. That's how we get conversations that take place in a completely different context. All the while, MR gets to say that she used the actual lines from the quote.
Do Not get me started on the script. *Zipping mouth shut from here out on the matter*
With Dexter she is part of a team of writers. MR sucks.
I, for one, am not really interested in the over-analyzation of the lines. I accept that it will never be an exact representation of our beloved series. I'm just so happy that the movies are being made and that the cast is so amazing that I can't worry about anything else.
Is MR the best screenwriter? Not even close! Could it be worse? By far! So instead of picking apart every little bit of info that comes out (cause that kinda ruined my NM experience a bit as well), I just want to sit back and enjoy seeing these adored character come to life before my eyes.
I love the passion of the fans on this site, and have so much respect for each of you and your opinions. I see all sides on this. I just hope that everyone doesn't build it up so high in their mind that no movie could ever live up to it. After all, we've only been given 90 seconds out of about 13,200. And those precious 90 seconds didn't even come close to scratching the surface of the content. So lets just relax, breathe and enjoy the ride!

I hate that I am doing that, but Summit really does just tick me off to no end because I really feel in my heart that all they care about is money and not the fans of this franchise that adore the books.
I do like this trailer. The Holy Trinity are amazing and there are other things that I really do like. I am trying to stay positive, but I also don't want to be so shockingly let down like I was for NM. I had such high expectations for that one that I was so p*ssed off after the midnight showing. I just hope that Eclipse is better and that they stay true to the books and the emotions of the characters.

Amanda did a great job with the comparison and the reason should couldn't find one for “Edward she found us” is because it doesn't exist at all in the book. The only places that dialogue could take place are at the graduation when Bella tells Edward she's figured it out or in the clearing when Victoria shows up. Please let me demonstrate:

The definitely need to use the Eclipse line- it's the title and the underlying theme of the whole book! But the Twilight and New Moon references were missing from their respective movies as well. It's a good thing we've read the books- otherwise we might be very confused about where these movie titles are coming from!

I feel the same way since “Script-gate”. I wish I'd never read it. Trying to stay positive about this is taking some serious heavy lifting! I am fighting myself internally because it really want it to be good – alas my expectations are higher than just a beautiful movie. It look very pretty – no doubt about it – and I expect modifications to the novel to make it more theatrical. But the liberty taken in this case was a shocking betrayal. I know revisions are made and I pray to God that they all but scrapped this travesty.
I think I need an intervention or a tent revival meeting to save me. LOL

I didn't read the script but I did read everyones comments so I was feeling the same way. I have been so worried about Eclipse with comments like adding more Edward and the whole editor fiasco that I had really low expectations for the trailer.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised so I am going to keep my expectations low so I can hopefully have the same reaction to the film (if not an even better one).
I did the same thing with New Moon, after seeing the trailer I was so excited for what it was going to be, but ended up bitterly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I learned to see the positives, with each viewing I loved it a little more, but still feel it could've have been so much more.

This is what I posted earlier on a different post, it's pretty similar to how you feel and that's really nice to see.
I for one am blown away and genuinely impressed on the execution of the scenes that have been chosen to tease us into wanting more and more, it definitely achieves this.
I had faith in DS from the start, after seeing his breath-taking photography and overall artistic vision, so I'm not surprised that this trailer looks as good as it does.
The man is a GENIUS.
I don't understand why little details are being put down.
It's perfectly fine to have our own opinions on how we all think the aesthetic and feel of the story should play out, but let us all remember that this is a teaser and its sole purpose is to tease the audience into to wanting more, without giving away too many key elements.
Not only this, but also the fact that it is the director’s interpretation of how he believes the movie should feel and look, and he has the final decision at the end of the day.
Also, there's just over 3 months to go, in which time there will be another 2 trailers released with more Eclipse AWESOMENESS and there's bound to be a lot of changes between now and the end of post-production, which we may or may not agree on but let’s just be happy that they're even bringing this story to life to begin with.
I personally feel extremely fortunate for this, and I cannot wait to see the journey unfold right before my eyes in all its fantastical glory.

I think that's fine (: Its very close to the lines in the book so I don't really mind. All good in the hood here. You can't take out exact lines from the book that are like one paragraph long, too me I would feel that it would make the movie drag on too much. So…yeah

I know the quotes in the books are far superior but I accept that they are not going to be word for word in the film. A lot of them have to be condensed.
What does p!ss me off is when she misses out important speeches – meteor speech in New Moon for example. Or when puts conversations in completely different scenes, when she had Edward explain why he left in Italy instead of waiting until they got back to Forks. Bella was supposed to be worrying he was going to leave again!

I'm really not interested in over-analyzing everything either, like the first poster said. I am very much looking forward to June 30!! That said, my only complaint would be the line in the trailer when Bella says, 'Edward, she found us.' That makes it sound as though they were in hiding when really they've been in the same town where Victoria first met them. So it seems an odd thing to say. But who knows? Maybe it ended up on the cutting room floor, as sometimes happens with clips from movie trailers.

MR writes the twilight scripts with notes like posties notes from Steph, Scummit and the director/producers. She pretty much alone in it.
I just feel like sometimes the paraphrasing cheapens the story. As much as I love these movies, I honestly think that they could be written better. And the fact that they aren't, only seems to give people more reason to harass us as fans. It's obviously something I expect, but some of the lines just don't sound as sweet or romantic as they do in the books. Some things should just be left the same. Especially really important lines like the proposal. Most women swoon over the way it's written in the book, but in the trailer, it just sounds…incomplete.

well i think they could've given more time for new moon. others think the editing was choppy and over all it was SO rushed. i didnt feel anything long enough. which is sad and the point of any movie.
i dont have a problem with the quotes or lines as long as it was taken from the book and done a bit better and it sounds good im fine. my beef is the acting, the emotion and where they said it. but someone told me its voice overs to random scenes. maybe thats it.
overall though, i wasnt jizzing my pants over this. wasnt much of a tease for me. i did jizz when i saw my BB shirtless though lol that never gets old, and his line: “i'll fight for you till your heart stops beating.” /le sigh/ *melts into a puddle of goo*

The dialogue being compared above just shows that MR is a simpleton when it comes to adapting romantic novels. (SM's lines, albeit corny sometimes, have a magical resonance, and flow so well in those above lines)

Didn't Bella say in the trailer: “Edward, has she found us?” In the book there was a moment where they're realizing that someone was near the tent where they were hiding: Something was coming for us. “Who?” I whispered…. “Victoria,” he said.
Now we're talking! It's the acting, not necessarily the quotes (although MR's lines would be hard to act out, I guess). I hate to admit it, but it's true. I was kind of okay with it in Twilight, as in, I forgave them coz it was low-budget, etc… but I had really hoped they would get it down by Eclipse.
I'm a bit bored by Rob's rendition of Edward… he's always moody and depressed, and honestly, no fun to be with at all. Taylor doesn't really do Jacob justice, either…

C'mon, from the Volturis to the end EVERYTHING is different to the book. And that's the most important part of the movie, it's supposed to be the climax. I saw positive things about it, but that's far from saying that it was a good adaptation. It was maybe a good movie, but definitely not a good adaptation.

I understand where you're coming from and I appreciate your opinion; it's manly in regards to the action elements (newborns battle) and other revelations like the histories of the cullens and wolves etc.
Of course, they have to have some sort of balance, to ensure they don’t reveal too much, but they do have to show something at the end of the day.
As far as I'm aware most of the fans who post on this site have read the material, so it's not really a surprise to them. I understand that some people haven't read the books, but they do have to cater to both audiences.
I've read the whole saga 8 times, nothing in comparison to some people, but the story has inspired me no end, in life and my career aspirations too.
I hope the next trailer is more to your liking, but for me I think they did a pretty good job on its execution.

well now…after reading as many comments as I could stand–boy! I wish some folks could give these movies a chance. I mean, if we want every frickin' line from the books, why bother with the movie at all–pick up the book and read those precious lines! Movies operate on a whole different level and appeal to a whole different set of senses. What might take three pages of description and dialogue to explain in the book, can be done with fewer lines and more visual shots or close-ups.
I was happy overall with the trailer, but it seemed very monotone and slow-motion for me. I think it was to give us that whole “very heavy stuff happening in this film” feeling. It makes me think “suspense” and some seriousness is coming. So, I am happy about some of that monotone quality, and I'll accept it. (I like Kristen's comment about the trailer)
Anyway…someone above commented about LoTR book & movie, and I had to chuckle…I saw the movies and tried to read the books from cover to cover–I was so determined! But no way…I love Tolkien, but he had Aragorn singing, Legolas singing, Bilbo singing, and even Eomer singing until I just said enough with all the frickin' singing! Can you imagine what laughs that stuff would've gotten in the movie? So my point is…the book's the book, and the movie's the movie. Enjoy them BOTH. Or you may ruin it for yourself. These trailers are supposed to be a choreographed sample of the entire movie. It's a tough job.

I just really hope that they stick to the book, Eclipse is my fave book out of the whole saga and by them changing it up it will only bring me back to Twilight.. SO I'm hoping its great…as for NM i think it did stick to the book a lot, we must understand that not every detail is going to be put in the movie especially with the length of the book….its not impossible to do I just think its not needed…So like everyone else is saying to all please relax and just breath when the movie is released then we can kick,shout,cry or whatever you all feel like doing…;)

I'm just now replying to your comment about how we don't have a real official poster for Eclipse…and It's funny cause I took so long to reply now we DO have an Official poster. lol Of course, I think the Official poster is rather boring though.

Ugh. I just feel like they are not even trying. It is so bland and simple and disappointing.
The worst let down for me was the first movie! I hated all the humor-too much-the book had some funny lines in it and funny moments, but not to the extent the first director did! And the add-ins were the worst-why the hell did she do that when there were so many other things she left out that were so much better?!
New Moon didn't upset me as much-I controlled my hopes and actually was pleasantly surprised. It's my least favorite of the books because Edward's gone so long, but the 2nd movie was far better than the 1st in my opinion.
Now Eclipse…I'm seeing it tomorrow and am a little scared, lol! It's my favorite of the books-all the action, drama, Edwards back to stay, poor Jacob's heart is broken over and over again even though he brings it on himself (though we find out why in 4), and everything comes together so nicely! Edward cares for Jacob, Bella's in love with them both, Jacob's still a child, but the characters made me cry a few times in this one. I pray they stick to the book as much as possible-not by dissecting lines, but the story line and truly important moments to us, like when Jacob finds out they're engaged and when she really breaks his heart in the end.
The fourth is the biggest movie for me, though! What will Nessie be like?! I'm so excited for that-then I'll have all the movies, suck it up and watch the first so I can get to the final three (hopefully all of which I'll approve of)! I just wish Stephanie had kept writing, lol, so the story would never end, because honestly, why does it have to?! They're immortal and who wouldn't LOVE to see the battle where the Volturi finally fall?!
