Eclipse 125 280x119 Twilight Examiner: Eclipse Trailer Quotes Vs the Books eclipse trailer eclipse Amanda Bell (Twilight Examiner) took the time to compare the quotes from the Eclipse trailer vs the book.  Here they are for your reference -

Trailer: “Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment of forever,” Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: “Isabella Swan? I promise to love you forever — every single day of forever. Will you marry me?” Edward Cullen, page 460.

Trailer: “She’s still human,” and “the Volturi don’t give second chances,” Dakota Fanning as Jane.
Book: “We don’t make exceptions,” she said. “And we don’t give second chances. It’s bad for our reputation. Which reminds me [. . .] Caius will be so interested to hear that you’re still human, Bella,” Jane, page 578.

Trailer: “Why are you so against me becoming like you?” Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.
Book: “You don’t want me to be a vampire.” “No, I don’t,” he said softly, and then he waited for more. “That’s not a question,” he prompted after a moment. “Well . . . I was worrying about . . . why you feel that way,” Bella and Edward, pages 272-73.

Trailer: “I know the consequences of the decision you’re making. After a few decades, everyone you know will be dead,” Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: “You could do so much better, Bella. I know that you believe I have a soul, but I’m not entirely convinced on that point, and to risk yours [. . .] For me to allow this – to let you become what I am just so that I’ll never have to lose you – is the most selfish act I can imagine,” Edward Cullen, page 273.

Trailer: “You wouldn’t have to change for me, Bella. I’m in love with you, and I want you to pick me instead of him,” Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: “I’m in love with you, Bella. Bella, I love you. And I want you to pick me instead of him. I know you don’t feel that way, but I need the truth out there so that you know your options. I wouldn’t want a miscommunication to stand in our way,” Jacob Black, page 327. “Just think about how it could be, Bella,” he urged in a soft, eager voice. “You wouldn’t have to change anything for me. You know Charlie would be happy if you picked me. I could protect you just as well as your vampire can – maybe better. And I could make you happy, Bella,” Jacob Black, page 333.

Check out the rest after the break!

Trailer: “You have to consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are,” Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: “You love her enough that you have to see the advantages of that plan. She thinks you’re very unselfish . . . are you really? Can you consider the idea that I might be better for her than you are?” Jacob Black, page 502.

Trailer: “I’ll protect you no matter what,” Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
Book: “I won’t let anything happen to you,” Edward Cullen, page 366.

Trailer: “You don’t know what you’re getting yourself into,” Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.
Book: “Jacob, I’m begging you. Stay with me,” Bella Swan, page 523.

Trailer: “I’m going to fight for you until your heart stops beating,” Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Book: “Until your heart stops beating, Bella. I’ll be here — fighting. Don’t forget that you have options,” Jacob Black, page 330.

The only one I couldn’t find a direct counterpart for was “Edward, she found us,” by Kristen Stewart as Bella. For the most part, though, so far so good right?

Thank you Amanda for taking the time to share this with your readers!! It is very helpful Eclipse icon smile Twilight Examiner: Eclipse Trailer Quotes Vs the Books eclipse trailer eclipse

  • MrsCullen121

so so true, but i think that version of heaven is only for like friggin saints..but then again considering all the abominable things i wanna do to that man would it really be heaven?? XP

  • MrsCullen121

  • Kez_MLIT

LMAO! COCK BLOCK! haha. my friend was so annoyed at stephanie meyer for that because she wanted graphic details lol! she even started a facebook group! but I loved it, perfect :) what weapon should we use to destory her? ;)

  • Kez_MLIT

yayy I live in London so I reeeally want her to spend more time here! its defo quieter. and yeah I get what you mean, its not any of our business but if they come out as a couple I'll want to know :)

well now…after reading as many comments as I could stand–boy! I wish some folks could give these movies a chance. I mean, if we want every frickin' line from the books, why bother with the movie at all–pick up the book and read those precious lines! Movies operate on a whole different level and appeal to a whole different set of senses. What might take three pages of description and dialogue to explain in the book, can be done with fewer lines and more visual shots or close-ups.
I was happy overall with the trailer, but it seemed very monotone and slow-motion for me. I think it was to give us that whole “very heavy stuff happening in this film” feeling. It makes me think “suspense” and some seriousness is coming. So, I am happy about some of that monotone quality, and I'll accept it. (I like Kristen's comment about the trailer)
Anyway…someone above commented about LoTR book & movie, and I had to chuckle…I saw the movies and tried to read the books from cover to cover–I was so determined! But no way…I love Tolkien, but he had Aragorn singing, Legolas singing, Bilbo singing, and even Eomer singing until I just said enough with all the frickin' singing! Can you imagine what laughs that stuff would've gotten in the movie? So my point is…the book's the book, and the movie's the movie. Enjoy them BOTH. Or you may ruin it for yourself. These trailers are supposed to be a choreographed sample of the entire movie. It's a tough job.

    Exactly!
New moon:O my edward. That was EPIC,
Twilight: O my edward, What have they done to you? WHY do you look like a psycho with spit in his hair?!?

  • Kez_MLIT

I know, I wasnt a fan of the bouffant personally.
It looked like Edward was doing it himself every morning with gel.
and Edward doesnt need to try amd be beautiful!

actually, i love their acting. rob is perfect as edward and taylor is my perfect jacob. but i meant when jacob speaks to edward i wanted more emotion there. but the rest tugged at my heart strings and made me melt. i love his voice. /le sigh/

and isnt edward supposed to be like that? lol. like when he tells bella he'll protect her he looked like a goofball to me lol. sounded bland. this is only the first time i ever criticized it. but they reshoot scenes many times and the ones in trailers usually never make it into the movie so there's still time.

  • TeamVampiresWearModestyPatches

Well, I'm glad you think that way!!! I really go back and forth on the acting… there is something there that bothers me immensely, but I don't know what it is.

On the other hand, I did get emotional during NM at a) the reunion kiss, and b) at the end when Bella tells Jacob that she'll choose Edward. Sigh…

I'm with you @TheLionFellIn<3W/Ceci-ROBECI…I too haven't read the script nor am I planning to. I just really hope that they stick to the book, Eclipse is my fave book out of the whole saga and by them changing it up it will only bring me back to Twilight.. SO I'm hoping its great…as for NM i think it did stick to the book a lot, we must understand that not every detail is going to be put in the movie especially with the length of the book….its not impossible to do I just think its not needed…So like everyone else is saying to all please relax and just breath when the movie is released then we can kick, shout, cry or whatever you all feel like doing…;)

I'm just now replying to your comment about how we don't have a real official poster for Eclipse…and It's funny cause I took so long to reply now we DO have an Official poster.  lol  Of course, I think the Official poster is rather boring though.   :)

  • CF Go Duke!!!!

    That's ok. It is isn't it? :(

Ugh. I just feel like they are not even trying. It is so bland and simple and disappointing.

The worst let down for me was the first movie! I hated all the humor-too much-the book had some funny lines in it and funny moments, but not to the extent the first director did! And the add-ins were the worst-why the hell did she do that when there were so many other things she left out that were so much better?!

New Moon didn't upset me as much-I controlled my hopes and actually was pleasantly surprised. It's my least favorite of the books because Edward's gone so long, but the 2nd movie was far better than the 1st in my opinion.

Now Eclipse…I'm seeing it tomorrow and am a little scared, lol! It's my favorite of the books-all the action, drama, Edwards back to stay, poor Jacob's heart is broken over and over again even though he brings it on himself (though we find out why in 4), and everything comes together so nicely! Edward cares for Jacob, Bella's in love with them both, Jacob's still a child, but the characters made me cry a few times in this one. I pray they stick to the book as much as possible-not by dissecting lines, but the story line and truly important moments to us, like when Jacob finds out they're engaged and when she really breaks his heart in the end.

The fourth is the biggest movie for me, though! What will Nessie be like?! I'm so excited for that-then I'll have all the movies, suck it up and watch the first so I can get to the final three (hopefully all of which I'll approve of)! I just wish Stephanie had kept writing, lol, so the story would never end, because honestly, why does it have to?! They're immortal and who wouldn't LOVE to see the battle where the Volturi finally fall?!
