  • ive seen the twilight

thats just moving.. havent heard anything about this on the news…

    sits and poders why

oh no i feel a rant coming on!!

well it might have to do with the fact that the gov has been trying to do away with native americans for years…

my great grandfather was full blooded choctaw…..

    sad sad sad !!!

they get even less help that the victims of katrina but then again theres another issue…

    hmmm

sad to see we havent gotten past this in this country!!

Don't get me started! I'm fuming as it is.

    *points up to earlier rant*

I'm part Aztec and some other tribe. I wish I knew more about the other tribe but unfortunately that information was taken to my grandmothers grave. Not even my father knows much about it but if you look at my father and his side of the family, there's no doubt that we are natives.

  • 5/09 LWNV – CHASKE felt my A$$

LOL You state things so well!

This sucks. We can send MILLIONS to the the people in Haiti (who need it DO NOT get me wrong) BUT do we spend money on our own???? NO why??? Because it is not politically correct. It needs to be corrected! POWER to THE people!

I am going to find a way to support this cause! WHO IS WITH ME?????

  • http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2017470/Hollywood2Brooklyn H2B~Respect~Peace~Luv~Twilight

You know I'm right there with you B!

Who else will help our oldest residence of the Americas?

  • 5/09 LWNV – CHASKE felt my A$$

2 of my great grandmothers were full blooded… (I don't claim it though so I won't mention the tribes even though I know them).

It is such discrimination! I am ready to paint my signs and march on Washington I am so mad! (points to rant under H2B's)

  • SnowyHedwig since 05/09

AMEN. As I said in my comment, it's not just the US that fails epically in this… the Canadian government really fails the First Nations people. Hmmm… there is a reason we call them First Nations…

  • kristine8

    Couldn't agree with you more.
There is so much waste and corruption within government, yet we keep hearing there's no money for where it's truly needed. Our provincial gov. is picking up the pieces after yet another scandal has been revealed by an internal audit. Local reps blew taxpayer's $ on big screen tvs, electronics, custom furniture, decor and generators for their homes((one MLA said his $8000 generator was for community use; unfortunately no one in emergency services knew about it and it was wired directly into his home). One rep filled an expense claim for Dance Dance revolution game …$200. Others sent in duplicate and triplicate expense claims for the same item. What in earth is wrong with people?
I shudder to think of how many millions of dollars are wasted on frivilous items every day…or spent meerly to maintain “appearances”.
With as much money as we all pay in taxes, there is no need of ANYONE going without.

  • meditationisamazingtryit

As much as I feel bad for thoses in Haiti and Portugal. I still believe we tend to forget about our own. Like where my aunt and uncle live during the second blizzard 2010 two/three firehouses were destoryed and roofs were falling in. And now this. Honestly this is the first time I heard of this disaster. So sad. I want to help.

  • KStewfan – Team Bada$$ Stew!!

This is why I HATE being an “American” – we came here and stole the land from the people who had it first – spread disease – and now we want to regulate who can and cannot come into this country. We have wipped ENTIRE tribes of people out with disease that we brought with us – then we rounded up those that were left and stuck them on “reservations” and gave them trailers and said here be happy were “giving” you this land. This truely makes me sick to my stomach that we our government can't help our own people while we are helping other countries with millions possibly billions of dollars in government aide. I too have Native American blood in me, but then again alot of the Native/First Nation people didn't have a choose but to “breed” with the “pale faces” (to quote Jacob Black), it was the only way to keep there family alive. I have it on both sides but not enough to claim it – but that's not even my point!! My Uncle (by marriage) is full blooded Cherokkee and his family lives in poverty in NC – having to turn to selling drugs to make a living – its just wrong!! I have always been against the treatment of Native/First Nation people and is one of the main reason I hate to call myself an “American” even though I was not one of the Pilgrims to come over and steal the land I still have some of them in my genes. Americans have this higher then though attitude about them and anyone different from them doesn't deserve the time of time. We liars and thiefs!!

OK I'm done! Sorry I soo had to get that off my chest!!

I signed my letter and made a donation!

  • EverySingleDayOfForever

Note the link on their site that allows you to send emails/letters to your state representatives regarding this issue. It took less than 60 seconds to fill it out!
I have great respect for the native tribes in my state, and would hope that our representatives would speak out in a similar manner.

Imagine if more time in DC was spent discussing legitimate needs like this; no hidden attachments and agendas.

  • Rose

Unfortunately what the US government is doing is so surprise to me. I live on the Tuscarora Nation near Niagara Falls NY and I've heard this all my life. I'm glad it's being brought to light by some of my favorite people and hopefully it gets the attention it deserves. Its about time the US government gave something back!

  • ive seen the twilight

    slow news day!

  • EAD_TeamRobsTatteredTshirts

There are too many people suffering right here in America. I agree. While it is understandable and noble that we wish to help other nations, we need to focus on ourselves first. That is all I will say because I know that I will get too angry to stop and this is where I come to feel happy.

  • http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2017470/Hollywood2Brooklyn H2B~Respect~Peace~Luv~Twilight

Oh Miss Kitty! I've missed you so much! PLEASE come back to twitter. I miss hearing about you & the BF.

  • meditationisamazingtryit

I agree there is no “true” freedom in the world. We are all controlled. We need laws and regulations or there would be chaos. There is always a black, dark, dirty side and white, bright, clean side and yes sometimes there is gray. I am of Native American descent but I am from not from just one tribal nation but many and each is so water down with my Irish, Walsh, English, French, German, Russian, and Scottish Polish and so on. I am proud of my heritage. My paternal side has more Native American blood. There is a story that is pass on from generation to generation of my great-great-great-great great don’t know how many greats grandmother who was part of a tribe nation in PA was raped by a “white man” in front of her husband, her children and her tribe during raid by the French during the French Indian War. She became with child and that’s who my family and I descent from. There are so many tales of “white woman” being taken by Native Americans and never returning in our history books and being taught in our history course but stories like my great——–great grandmother are being omitted from these courses and books. Most of time we are only getting taught one sided history. And with history there are multiple sides. I am proud to be an American because even though there is no “true” freedom we still have more than most in the world. At the same time I regret the decisions of the past and present. The US government, our government should be helping those who live here legally first whether they are Native American, Black, Asian, Hispanic, White and etc. They need to hurry the f*** up and help Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. $h*t like this pisses me off.

Sorry for the rant. It seems to be a daily thing on here for me. :)
I too my letter and made a donation. ready for the mail tomorrow.

  • EnglishRock

Wow!! Some of you guys are really angry. I can't speak from what you all have experienced personally, but I can tell you from my personal experience that I feel my family has been treated pretty well. My husband is half Native American. Some of the perks for his tribe, if you would call them that, are: 100% free college tuition, quarterly checks, free acres of land and various loan program perks. That's what I know about. There is probably a lot more that I'm just not aware of. As I am as white as they come our son is only 1/4 Native American and retains all the same perks if he were to choose to participate.
These benefits are set up to filter all the way down to those that are 1/8 Native American. That means that my grandchildren can have free college tuition!! Not everyone can say that. Maybe I'm just a glass-half-full kind of person, but I just respectfully don't feel the same as everyone else.

  • Billie

I just sighed the petition it literally took less then a min. but you know what such I was the first on from my state to send a letter, step it up CT

  • TaniaJoLuvsEclipse(nmobsessed)

I'm with you, too, LWNV. –Haven't logged in for quite a while, but as soon as I read this I knew I had to comment to also help provide a voice to this cause and to this post, as well. :)

I hope we will all do what we can to help. I clicked on the link that Jaypat provided above, found the letter to send to Congress, signed it and sent it right off to the congressmen and woman representing my state.

  • meditationisamazingtryit

Native American are US citizen (US GOV. made this decision in 1924, much to many Native American surprise) and they are entitled to rights as citizen. This just start a major discussion in class.

  • Angie

There is nothing on that website that indicates the organization was set up just to assist Native Americans. With that said and with the assumption that the following statement from the website is a broad, generalized statement, I have to say – no thank you.

“We must join together to bring a GLOBAL SOCIETY founded on respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice and a culture of peace.” [emphasis mine]

On its face, I agree with the premise of shifting the power back to the people; after all, that was how this country was founded. But unfortunately, we are too far gone in many respects to ever truly get back the power that should be ours. That said, I believe that Native Americans should be allowed to exercise far more rights than they are currently. It's a travesty.

But since I come here to feed my Twilight fix and I don't want to get all political, I'll leave it at that.

  • Jacob_and_Bella

I just met Alex on Saturday. :D He's a sweetie!!!

  • ancha85

Yes, they are so awesome. I am so proud of them to step up and do this. Shows what great character they all have.

We all need to go to this site and to send an email to our congressmen, and if possible, pay $9.00 to have letters mailed in our names.

The Sioux are a beautiful people, who have been mistreated time and time again by our government. So wrong…

I have gone to the site and sent in my emails, and forwarded the info to 4 other friends, so that maybe they will sign, too. I challenge all of my fellow Twifans to do the same.

And just as a side… Chaske has an AWESOME voice. Very sexy…I wish he talked more in NM…

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

i know! their born in poverty, live in poverty, and die in poverty! how the **** are they supposed to pick up the pieces when the government won't help and isolates them from white america?!

pisses me off! sure they have their land back but it only accounts for less than 1 percent of what their ancestors had!

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

exactly. we don't even help ourselves and those who aren't native americans. you know how many homeless people there are in the great US of A?? 8 million i believe! and its only gotten worse since the recession started 2 years ago!

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

well they don't want money but if they need it i'll gladly send a dollar. its all i can afford sadly.

i already signed the letter to my congressmen. :)

sometimes it pisses me off there are more comments in other posts but way less in these kinds where we should help and focus most of our positive energy in worthy causes. i don't mean to offend anyone i just wonder how many people actually read this and do something about it?

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

its spent on giving bonuses to the heads of corporations and wall street bankers.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

“The government can be so slow sometimes.” nah they just dont care, not even for the white people.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

they didnt just spread disease but kicked them out of their own lad and put them somewhere else while raping and beating those on the way. its called the trail of tears.

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

without the attachments and agendas added on bills, things would be passed much more slowly. did you know they add in stuff that most congressmen dont agree with into bill at the last minute when no one has read it? cos most dont read the whole bill cos their like bibles! so when they pass a bill and realize something else was added and passed their like: wtf? i dont remember reading that. oops.

i hate the fact that the way we live everything has to be done yesterday!

  • meditationisamazingtryit

No they couldnt stop him the french had the upper hand. It was back in 1756 or 1757 i believe. the story says there were about 100 “whitemen” there and it was a gang rape with 10 to 20 men. I know it was crueliest of human nature. and to have your family watch. it was horrible. the story is passed down as a lesson of sorts. its one of the darkest part of my family history.

  • EverySingleDayOfForever

Yes, I was aware of this. I consider myself well educated and informed, but I hate politics! I have no respect for the dishonesty and disregard that occurs. God bless those who are advocates for reform! Makes you wonder if things will ever change?

  • cjbruce

Thank you all for your support of this cause. We shot this in our Video Army offices in Venice and it was amazing how quickly and smoothly everything came together.

The Twilight community has been a huge boost to the exposure on this video and the cause.

Look for more content from the shoot coming soon!

  • http://www.fanfiction.com/~youroasis MCNutters [Team Nessie!]

oh god, a gang rape? *shudders* your relative was a strong woman. bless her. i'll never understand those who commit such atrocities.
