‘Twilight’ Takes Over the Oscars?

What’s an awards show these days without some teen vampires and werewolves? Nothing! So that’s why at this year’s Academy Awards, they snuck some in. The Twilight Saga: New Moon had, let’s see, zero Oscar nominations, but somehow here’s Anna Kendrick, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner attending the ritziest party of the year.

So Kendrick didn’t technically sneak in. She totally earned it, being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Up In The Air and also presenting an award (lucky!) with Zac Efron.

But Taylor and Kristen dodged bodyguards and hid behind props to get into this thing. OK, not exactly—but did the Academy cook up a tribute to horror films just to have an excuse to put these two on stage together?

Also, Robert Pattinson couldn’t make it, but still got mentioned in Neil Patrick Harris‘ opening ballad.

So now that the stars have gained access to the planet’s most exclusive party, all that’s left is to make a Twilight movie worthy of Oscar night…

Huh. Not sure what I think of that. The Academy cooking up the Horror films tribute just so they could have an excuse to have Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner present? If that was the case — then why didn’t they just have them as presenters?

Why is it that people need to make a conspiracy out of all things Twilight! Sheesh!

True on some counts but one thing about the Oscars that I like is that the epitome of acting is honored. Now you say they did not honor the youth except for throwing scraps their way well How do you explain Anna Kendrick? Bottom line is that the Oscars honor those who deserve to be honored that have earned it. Of course Anna didn't win which disappointed me because I loved the movie and she was wonderful in it but Monique has payed her dues and even though I didn't particularly like Precious earned it. Also Carey Mulligan was nominated as Best Actress and she is in her early 20's. They are not going to nominate movies like Twilight, Transformers or any other blockbuster that lacks the acting or technical chops. I love Twilight don't get me wrong but I am not so much of a fan that I neglect to consider other movies that are out there. Plus its junkfood for the brain. Avatar was nominated just like The Lord of the Rings was nominated for the photography, costumes, and storyline. Plus James Cameron invented technology that had never even been contemplated before so he deserved the nod. The Academy Awards has and will give nods to the younger generation if and only if they give a wonderful uncliched performance.
