Vampire Weekend Received Negativity From Some So-Called Fans For Being On The Eclipse Soundtrack

Video Hits recently interviewed the band Vampire Weekend. They contribute the song Jonathan Low to the Eclipse soundtrack.

Vampire Weekend admitted that after the announcement came out that they were on the soundtrack, they received some negativity via Twitter -

“I checked Twitter in a couple days, and I looked on and there was a lot of negativity,” they revealed. “I mean, you know, Soul to Squeeze is on the Conan soundtrack. I’m not trying to say that this is as good a song as Soul to Squeeze . . . all I’m saying is that the Twitterverse needs to chill out.”

About the series, the band members revealed that they’d seen the first film and found Kristen Stewart to be “beautiful.”

I don’t see what the issue is! If you are TRULY a fan of Vampire Weekend, wouldn’t you want them being on a HUGE soundtrack like Eclipse? I think that some people seriously have nothing better to do then to whine, about anything really.

I personally love the son Jonathan Low and am very glad that they are on the soundtrack!!

Remember — Only for a few more hours can you have a sneak peek of the Eclipse soundtrack .. Go here to listen to it!!

I have read the books and seen the movies so far but I'm not what you can call a twihard. I think the Twilight saga is indeed very interesting and has its enchanting parts, but I don't wanna cross the line to “the other side”- hardcore fandom..
I just think that this work deserves respect and acknowledgement because it is the result of countless efforts of those involved in it. Thus we should not be too pricky, harsh about it. Think in reverse…If we were to come up with this whole concept and see it as very important and valuable, wouldn't we be kind of hurt when confronted with negative responses from the others?
To cut a long story short, I think that there shouldn't be actual hate signals from others concerning this series, because it is just a product of a person's imagination and hard work, which deserves respect and appreciation. If you don't like it it's your problem, but you should not “propagandise” this. (no offense, just stating an opinion)

Now , regarding the current issue with the soundtrack. I think that VW's single being on the ost of Eclipse is not bad and I agree with the others, because this does not change anything of the band's style and approach automatically.
Even if Twilight is commercial, the songs used on the ost are a trigger of the story one could say…Each song brings to light certain emotions in the plot.
I think that the concept behind Twilight is quite fascinating especially for those who are young and still can dream about the ideal, immortal love.
I will continue to watch and listen to the products of this series, not out of fan pride, but because I enjoy the ideas, their portrayals…To like it simply because it reflects some of your dreams and wishes is very different from liking it because of the fan influx.
As I said I'm not a twihard, but I am curious, and I don't dislike the songs in the ost just because they have been used for Twilight. I listen to them because they convey intense feeling and because they make me feel good.
Hope my message was understood. I didn't mean any offense.
